I've grown jealous of all those other scan artists out there, what with their own fancy threads and all, and have decided that I want my own art thread too!

And here it is! To start off, I'm afraid I haven't a finished scan; only a work-in-progress; arguably the biggest scan project I've ever undertaken. Feast your greedy eyes on this tantalising screenshot of the artist at work:



Behold! The Planet Express crew reimagined into a bold new world; one where they don't wear the same clothes! It's crazy, I know, but I believe it must be done; if only for the betterment of mankind. (And to see how sexy Leela looks in a TOS uniform)

I'll be making this into a full scan, wallpaper (in various sizes for non-1024 x 768 pagans), and a couple avatars. Details are sketchy about when this will be finished; school starts tomorrow (actually, later today   ) and I may become busy beyond even my own wildest imaginings. So don't hold your breath. You could damage your brain, and it doesn't need any more of that sort of thing; it has troubles enough on its own.

I would, except I'm using TOS uniforms as re-created by Melllvar in "Where No Fan Has Gone Before." None of them had the rank bands (which I know, by the way) or the Starfleet insignias. I might add them if I feel like it.

You also might notice the absence of Leela's Wrist Thingy; I tried putting it in but it just looked funky.

I haven't got some sizing issues worked out in photoshop yet, but here's what you can expect the wallpapers to look like when I get them done and hosted:

I love that scan  It looks so good, apart from Leela's lips seem to be a little bit funny around the edges at the moment, I'm not sure whether they're supposed to. Keep it up, can't wait for it to be fully completed

That's really good. Minor point, you might want to change the colour of that grey spot (I think its a button) near leela's face. Maybe it's jut me but it realy seems to stand out more than it should.

Again with the excelent stuff though!

And the avys so far (much thanks to Mercapto, who helped me solve a screwy photoshop problem that was making the outlines all jagged):



I may do one of Bender later on, but school is kicking into high gear so it could be a while. Fry might not get one since his pose/uniform ins't all that remarkable, but I may yet.

PS - SixByNine, thanks for pointing out that little button. I switched the color to a dark blue, and it stands out much less now.

LAN.Gnome, that's the 133t'est thing I've ver seen. That's so going on my desktop. Do you by any chance have a 1280*1024 version laying around?

I'm tempted by the TOSCaptain Leela avatar, but I'll stay with Trill Leela for now.

EDIT: Teral, here's the wallpaper in 1280 x 1204. I made it just for you. 

PS - The aspect ratio must be slightly different as that resoultion, since I had to crop the edges a little more than on the others.

Two things:
A. I got busy making avatars from scans of the show
B. In order to do a good job I need pics with the face at a slight angle, and not the head-on webcam stuff that's usually posted. Otherwise noses come out looking funny.

Remember, I am possessed of precious little actual artistic ability. I can trace with the best of 'em in Photoshop, though.
