EDIT EDIT: Finally managed to neaten things up by pasting the posts together! It wouldn't let me post all at once, but editing step by step seems to have done the trick.

Well, I've done a few of these now, so thought I'd break out and create my own thread.. Heres the work so far:

The mad scientist from the end of Spanish Fry.. my second attempt at shading, and I think it came out pretty good..

My first attempt at shading.. didn't turn out too bad, but I don't think the colours are quite rich enough to do the original frame (Godfellas) justice

This was the very first scan I attempted, neatened up and smoothed after I'd experimented on Zoidberg. The grab comes from Fear of a Bot Planet. Man, I got that rabbit to look hacked off. Unintentionally you understand, but I thought it was kinda funny.

Fry looking vacant from Raging Bender.. I should have neatened up a few of those lines on the towel.

The first scan I used beziers to smooth the outline of.. and the first one I uploaded to PEEL too! It's from Why Must I Be A Crustacean In Love

More as & when...

Nice work.  I like the top one's shading (I missed the episode, damn it all)

[ASIDE]So he posted all the pics as seperate messages, so what?  Seriously, if there is a legitimate technological reason I want to know.  If there isn't lighten the @@*&#$ up for god's sake[/ASIDE]

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

@Marg: The topic script wouldn't let me post with everything all in one, hence the sextuple post.

@Yorokobi: Thanks for sticking up for me, but relax a little.. we're all friends here   ;)

Another grab from Spanish Fry:

I tried to put a little extra emotion in this grab, though I'm not entirely sure if it really works though.

Also, don't you just hate it when you've outlined half the image only to realise that you've still been on the background layer? D'oh!

there is a technical reason, yes. more posts mean more work for this server. the off topic board has already crashed several times. that's why people should be careful with double-posts and spam and stuff like that.
also, double (or more) posts aren't considered as something very "nice" to do.

btw, great scans. i like the mad scientist a lot.

Stuart B has succeeded in pretending to be an artist...  ;)
Nice scans, especially the first (the scientist) and the last (Fry).  :)

Point taken Spiff, and thank you for responding.

As to my reaction, it's due to the fact that I used to be a "MOD" years ago.  Back then it was called Co-Sysop and it was on a BBS (the old school kind, one person at a time, dialing it directly via there modem.  Pre-net stuff)

Anywho, IMHO you NEVER reprimand in public, it only causes me trouble.  E-mail or PM direct.

Cheers!

Experimentation. The following is an 8 frame animation of Fry doing the Hustle from Jurassic Bark:

That's just the little version.. full size (50k) version can be found at:  http://www.aqwh78.dsl.pipex.com/scans/fryhustle-anim.gif

The animation is made up of 8 scans of seperate frames from a Media Player window. I mostly listened to Bis: Silver Spoon and The Bluetones: Marblehead Johnson while scanning.

EDIT: Heres a proper scan from Why Must I Be a Crustacean in Love

Edit edit: Paul: mail sent!

Here's something special... I saw this frame in Spanish Fry and shippiness took me:

Being as it came out so surprisingly well, I've sized it to the three most popular wallpaper sizes:

800x600:   http://www.aqwh78.dsl.pipex.com/scans/frycage800.jpg

Thanks guys! Here's another wallpaper I made of everyone's favourite sociopath:

I think I got the shading down pretty well on this one, and I'm quite happy with the lighting effects too. Heres the link to the high-quality .jpg versions:

But wait! Theres more:

Perhaps I made the background a bit too plain in this one, but I'm happy with the way Farnsworth turned out.. From Kif Gets Knocked Up A Notch

Zapp looking a bit more.. er.. relaxed than in the wallpaper image. And I'm getting better at shading too! Also from Kif Gets Knocked Up A Notch
