yes maybe thats a good idea, however it is your fan fic and therefore, by my simple yet twisted logic, it is your view that counts. this is why i believe that you should do a sequel if you can be bothered. so please visit this topic and see what others think http://www.peelified.com/cgi-bin/Futurama/4-000778/

Wow, this thread is a year old and finally on it's last page(s). Lots of good times were had here. I know I want to start the next one!

Anyway, the latest chapter of "The Other" was pure goodness. My sympathies to Rye Guy for all the stuff he went through. I'll give a more through review later if I find anything to comment on. Everyone needs criticism!

I just finished UoM.

Let me start off by saying congrats to Ken for the brilliant fic. It has to be one of the greatest fan fics out there, and it was much fun to read. All throughout you've hit the characters dead on, had me hanging to read the next part, and even had me laugh a few times as well. The story was unique and detailed incredibly.

Now, the ending... can't say it was my preference, but that is because I'm a shipper mostly Otherwise, it was a great ending to a great fic.

Haha, editedbecause I obviously was tired when i posted this... life, laugh, what a differnce :laff:

Whoa! HUGE bump up of this thread. It seems to have been forgotten. :hmpf:

Anyway, I'm here with an overall review of Missy's fanfic Delicious Surprise, which I recently finished reading. I was commenting to Missy at the Groening Fanworks Central for every chapter, and just reviewed it there overall, so I thought I'd post those final thoughts here too, since many of you were fans of her saga. I'll put it below in spoiler space for the benefit of those who haven't read it (all) yet. :)

I just read "Futurama Spin-offs part 1", by ELF at TLZ and it was good and I'm speaking on behalf as a follow fanfic writer who does spin-offs.

Zoidberg in "OR" (Operating Room) was quite good. Though it does use some jokes from the Simpsons, it manages to keep my eye open in waiting for the next spin-off.

I've also read "Futurama Outtakes" written by a Dwayne and it is good. It is just a collection of random scenes with clever bloopers. I also recommend looking at that story as well if you happen to be visiting the fanfic section of TLZ.

Eh, they mostly only review ones by Kryten and Kif White here(Well some others, but for the most part, they are the two most popular writers). Outside of a few comments, no one ever reviews any of mine either. It's nothing personal, there are just so many fan-fictions. But I promise that I will read and review yours once I have enough time to sit down and read it EL. :)

*Edit* And if Kif White or Kryten read this post I don't mean to sound bitter towards you. I'm not, you guys deserve all the praise you get,and then some...... you attention whores. :p

I get moderate reviews sometimes. I don't as many as Kryten, but I do get reviews now and them. Though so far I haven't received a comment for part one of my fanfic, "You Should Have Snoo-Snoo Only Once". I would like to know if I did well with it, and was is as good as any of my previous work?

Oh, also, everything by Kryten is awesome. I'd read UoM...but geez...it's long! Looks like I became a Futurama fan too late to get into that story. Looking forward to "The Chronotons of Fry-nia" though.

Now, to complete the cycle of reveiw whoring (because it's fun), everone go review my new fanfic:The Bearer of Bad News :D

*LOL* It's actually, technically finished. It's currently being previewed as a first draft at The Groening Fanworks Central (http://www.simpworks.com) where it will stay for a week. So it should be released on Friday. Anybody is free to go there and take a look, but the final product will have some changes. I've already made some edits based on one review, as well as fixing some mistakes.

I liked it. I rated it "very good" at TLZ. Question, though, to you and other fanfic authors. Why do there seem to be so many fics that have Leela physically assaulting Fry? Seems kind of out of character. Offhand, I can only recall one instance in the series when she struck him in anger (TKOS) and then you didn't even see it. You just saw the resulting black eye.

Thanks for the pointer J! I thought her piece was well done over-all. I like reading people's takes on what it might be if the 2 of them were together in a longer term relationhip.

That said, I wish she had spent a little more space examining the conflict between them. We start with them seemingly on the rocks without a solid idea of why. Before you know it everything is okay again with just a sketchy explanation.

All that said, I did enjoy it quite a bit and I hope she will do more!

"Bearer of Bad News" is perhaps the best of the 'episode fics' I have read. J's pacing is very tight and he adds plot elements at the pace of an episode (that's intended as a compliment BTW!)

His depictions of the characters is spot on with the show characters too, very good job! I would quibble with the degree of Leela's violence though. Sure she is violent but maybe her attack of Fry was a wee might over the top?? Still it was a great job overall!

I loved TCoF-n. Very shippy and yet nothing conclusive. While I did find the cloning Fry idea a bit strange, it's no less weird than her dream in "The Sting" A cop out to be sure, but in tune with the thinking of the show. I had problems with rather short visits after Fry finally understands what's going on. Interesting concept that you can only travel to those realities that you had a direct hand in changing, however slight.

Good work Kif, though I must say I was surprised at the format you chose.

There are a couple of new items over at fanfic.net that deserve a look. The author is Shattered Echoes - a new on to me.
The first is an unfinished fic Love is About Giving Up Everything. The main plot revolves around Leela head over heels for and dating someone other than Fry (sorry F/L shippers). It is set after Amy and Kif have started to have a realationship. The writer has done a wonderful job describing the emotional states of Fry and Leela as the story is unfolding. He/she has done a particularly nice depiction of Fry and what he's going through emotionally.
I can't tell where the plot is going yet but I am looking forward to more! (I say that alot don't I) :hmpf: There are 2 glitches with canon that aren't too distracting and shouldn't spoil the enjoyment of the story. (I would also quibble with Leela referring to Amy as a sl*t but that's just me) :nono:

The other piece by the same writer is Drowning the Past. It is based on / inspired by a song Whiskey Lullaby (unknown to me). It is a bleak 2 page fic about the end of Fry and Leela's love. It is very well crafted and VERY depressing  The devoted F/L shippers might want to avoid this one.

To explain click here> http://www.peelified.com/cgi-bin/Futurama/4-000373-19/#t728

Here's the first part of it. And CU= Close Up

{opening credits plays, A Chewy Source of Goodness! Cartoon old Snoop clip}

Scene shows a room with one light. It's not bright enough to see anyones faces but their bodies down.

Man #1 yelling: This is an outrage!
Man #2: How the heck could you have done this Bricon?!
Bricon: It was an honest mistake sir, I promise that Quiven 2.0 will be the soul perfection for our country.
Man #1: I know it will Bricon, but you will not have the faite of America in your hands anymore!

CU of his finger hitten a button, we see Bricon's chair drop as he begins to scream. And flames flare up where he use to be (Like in Austin Powers). The man is holding a disc,

Man #1: Take it to be destroyed! Make sure I never hear or see that disgrace again!

Two bulky men take the disc and walk out of the room. All seems quite then we here a scutle, the men turn every which way with their guns armed. They pause for a second and then they continue to walk on. We hear something drop and a loud clanky noise fade out. Soon we hear the men start shreiking in pain as they fall to the floor as the disc rolls off. A hand catches it and runs through the other door, behind the door we hear people running out to see what had happened. As the stranger in the stelth suit walks along he takes his mask off, we see the face of none other than Zap Branningin giving an evil smirk. He's staring at the disc tossing it up and down. CU of the disc, it has a lable on it that reads: Vengence Quiven X....

What do you think? I promise that the next part has the PE crew in it. This was the intro.

Finished TCoF-n just now, and it was a nice read, as everything Ken does is. One of the few fanfic writers I've seen to get all the characters down as well as the show. While it could still be shippier :p, it was a great story line and a relief from all the non-shipper fics (or just few fics in general).

Wonderbee31 has finished part 5 of Leela Squared his Doctor Who / Futurama cross-over. It is up on TLZ.

Wonderbee has done a first rate job with this chapter. His pacing is very crisp and holds the reader without rushing and his prose is as good as it always is.

I had not known of the character Toy Maker so I can't say if the portrayal is accurate but he is a very Whovian villian! The scenes where the 4 protagonist are tormented are very well done (especially the Doctor's scene) and add some wonder character development. Fry's torment made me cringe for him.

The fic is well worth a read even for the non - Whovian fans among us. (If there are such people!)

Thanks for the kind words Ol' coot, I wish it was as good as you said. For months I would work on a part of the story, and then get frustrated with myself, as I didn't feel that it was what I wanted it to be, as well as what other people may have expected. Still, I look at it now, staring at me from the pages, and see things I could have fixed or at least made sound better. That said, I am going to finish both of my currently active stories, and there will be a follow-up after I finish NMFAG 2.
