I've not really cared for FF.net since they took away NC-17 stories. Sure, it was an abused rating, but there were some good stories amongst the crap. I'm not quite sure what the goal is here, except that they view chat script and script format to be one and the same. Who wants to read a chat dialogue? It IS unfair to group script and chat as one and the same, but banning NC-17 stories was more censorship than this. Script writers at least have the option of doing their stories in prose format. Some NC-17 stories just didn't work as well toned down.
I understand people might find script easier, but generally I find it lacks something. Descriptions may fall upon little breaks in the story's reality to have us visualize the Enterprise so we can "see" the ship approaching the heroes. That's just an example.
People praise script for reading just like an episode. How good would an episode of Futurama be if all we had was the script? So this praise is empty IMO and prose is capable of "reading like an episode" too.
*Shrugs* Well, I started ragging on script and that wasn't the intention. Some of my favorite writers use script and this is unfair to them. I suppose my only point is that no matter how easy it is, changing script to prose loses no quality and can even gain some IMO.
Like I said, I already disagree with some of FF.net's decisions, but for my reasons above I can't really view it as censorship. Also I notice some of Fryfan's fics are still up and I think all he ever did was script. My question why have all of them not been removed? FF.net is more like Big Brother in that it relies on fellow members to turn in non-comformists. Older stories might just be safe from the purge, but please don't quote me
