I never had that feeling. I just wrote, and kept on going only stopping later on when i run out of ideas to proofread and alter some trouble spots.

I also never really had much of an issue with the whole taking over of characters you didn't create. i never was very good at making up characters, or a real theme for that matter, that is why i write fan fiction. you have the characters, theme, general conflicts, and everything like that already there to use, all you have to do is make up a kick ass plot, add a dash of action, a pinch of comedy, and mix with two cups of shippyness. leave it to fester and bake in our mind for about three days and BAM! you start to write a fan fic. i write almost all of mine in one night on a spur of creativity going back the next day to fix plot holes and add last minute ideas. it only takes about three hours for me to write the initial draft, then that't it.

the rest is just either waiting for Grahm to post the tale on the net, or going on and making more.

it is not as hard as it looks......

I wouldn't say "it's not as hard as it looks". Some people have a hand for it, and some don't. For example, I see all these people here creating awesome fanart, meanwhile I can barely draw a stickfigure. Some people's artistic talent is more visual, some people's is more written. (And some people's is non-existant.)

Good point, i have one fan art on TLZ, and it is not very good, it is mostly a screen shot that i made more nasty than it was meant to be using some strategically placed text.

look it up, it is an image from paracites lost of leela sleeping and that book on her face, in my picture, well, it is not true tales of couragious animals to say the least.

also, some people do simply have the knack. i am not sure where i fall though, i do come up wit truly original ideas in my stories, but i also recycle and make better ideas from other tales, i even add in jokes and parts from other scifi shows, EX anything Ra. my stories are lacking the original ambiance of others, they are more like a large assortment of different ambiant types all somehow trown togater into a good story. perhaps this is because i started with part two, went backi and spawned part one, and then moved on to part three, like somehow my stories are their own grandfathers or something...........

Part seven AWAY!

part seven is now in the in box of GRAHM from the TLZ. soon to be up, never fails....

TITLE: Going insane: Esodus

CAPTION: When fry decides to be noble as to who can have the knowlege he posesses, his six month aniversary day after celebration is cut short, and he along with the rest of hte PE crew have to escape doop territory, and find a way to get back home as well as show the universe what the DOOP really are. (no not sugar, spice and everything nice).

I would rank it as a good beginner to the next and final half the the Going insane series. it has action, romance, sex, drugs, what else could you want! and after the stinker that part six was, (i havent seen the rating yet, but it can't be good), this is a step in the right direction.

Hope you enjoy it when it comes out....

Paul: Just sent it your way. Thanks!

As for a synopsis, well, I don't want to give away the key points/"surprises", but here's what I can tell you:
Fry finally snaps at Leela at the beginning of the story after she scolds him very hurtfully (for doing something idiotic), and then he treats her like crap for most of the story. While this is going on, a delivery mission goes horribly wrong, and one of the character is turned evil by horrible aliens. (I originally made the aliens *REALLY* evil, but later found it best to tone them down, and the end result is something in between Lrrr and Morbo.) Two of the characters chase the "evil" one through several planets, trying to avert the destruction of half the Universe. In an ironic twist of fate, the chase comes to a sudden end. Fry is forced to take charge and reveals an aspect of himself that he usually keeps well hidden, from himself as well as from others. A nice, touching ending ties up all the loose ends. The characters involved realize something they've known all along, and "grow" a little without actually changing at all.
The story is quite shippy, but in a different way than most of the stuff I've read. (I hope.)

It's at TLZ. Look around. The haven't made the announcement yet. Also why don't you try posting direct links? I'll click on the link to see the story and wind up having to search for it. Also what's part 7 of your story called again?

Part seven is called:

Going Insane: Exodus

I could have sworn i said that before, oh well, i am too lazy to look back and tell you to look for youself.

Great story! I loved it! Love, Hate, revenge, all good things!
i only have one thing i think could have been better, Fry could have snapped more and gone really crazy, but the way you did it, well, made him seem more human about it rather than the insanity i shall bestow upon a fry in part nine.

REALLY GOOD STORY!!!

keep them coming...

i really liked a second chance. You should stick around as an auther. The only thing that seemed off to me was the hand squeezing scene. Fry would never lay a hand on Leela, or any woman like that. I always saw him as the kind of guy that would try to step in if he saw anyone treating their woman like that. He'd get his ass kicked, of course, but an honest attempt to help would be made. But i can't see him acting like that no matter how mad he was.

Thanks for the comments, I'm glad you guys liked it. I'm currently thinking about what else I could write (since I've already said pretty much all I had to say on the Fry/Leela subject and refuse to have them get together), and if I come up with a good enough idea, I'll turn it into my next fanfic.
As to the scene you mentioned, Venus, you make a good point - I hadn't really thought of that. It was hardly a violent scene, though; Fry was trying to make a point and was out to hurt her emotionally, not physically.

his goal was to hurt her emotionally BY hurting her physically. She was in pain. And i understood the point that was being made but it made me real nervous reading it. The way he was carrying on i was fully expecting him to break her hand.

Ehh, it was a little off, but the rest of the fan fic seemed so....human. it really did, the emotions seemed right on the money when it comes to people just getting fed up with that love hate relationship lets just be friends, and yet closer, but not quite there. it is this type of relationship we all know about, and is shown so much in futurama that infuriates shippers, but also has the effect of making us come back for more, that is why they torture us so...well not really torture, but close enough.

and since you refuse to have Fry and leela get togather, how about fry and amy again? maybe fry gets fed up with the results of his pain in a second chance and begins to date amy again, this in turn makes leela jelous, and well you know where i am going from there. sky is the limit.

Keep them coming, you are really good.

Venus: Glad to hear it. Making the reader sweat a little is something I enjoy doing from time to time.  ;)

getak2003: I'm trying to be original here  :p
The reasons I will not do a Fry/Leela love story are that it is WAY overdone, and the characters are more interesting the way they are. More tension, more dynamic, more possibilities; call it what you want. (Besides, I'd sooner shoot myself than start writing sappy romantic/pornographic stories). Also, I hate being repititious, so if I do decide to use the Fry/Leela relationship again (which I probably will), it will be new material. I'm not doing another "I'm tired of putting up with your crap" story. Although... I just might do a Fry/Amy thing. I was never a fan of the Fry/Amy relationship, but I just might be able to do something interesting with it.
I'll play around with various ideas and see what works.

btw, If anybody has read any of my "Universe of Malice" saga, please post any feedback. Good or bad, it doesn't matter. I'd just like to know what the fans like and/or want in a story and what they think of the style. Bad feedback is better than no feedback, and helps me correct any mistakes and become a better writer. So feedback of ANY kind would be much appreciated. Thank you  :)

I've recently started reading Universe of Malice, and I think you have some great stuff there. I really like the narrative, it's very original and very skillfully done. Very nice overall plot, too - good scifi. You should consider writing stuff like this outside of the Futurama universe.

Yeah, universe of malace is going to be freaken HUGE! It is superb thus far, i LOVE it. I have read all the versions that have come out thus far, and just by the fact that hardy anything has happened, you know there will be a whole hell of alot more to go. Also, it is very well written thsu far. Keep it up. Good work.

I would also like to say that my series, although coming out faster, will only go to maybe 13 parts, while yours, well, can go really high. maybe the most of any fan fic out there. when done that is. i will hold that title until you top my last installment.

One more thing, where did you come up with the idea for that character Fry is riding with, when he escaped from that atroid slave planet thing? also, i think you have no left any opprotunity to complicate the story undone. an example is how that woman seems sad or something, also, what will happen with that guy who is on the planet that eats plantets thing? is he a vatetta rip off or something? seems that way to me anyway....

maybe i just watch too much dragon ball Z.....

Hehehe. First of all, thanks for the kind words (you too Anarchist  :)). Secondly, the story is looking massive so far. 8 Chapters so far, a 9th one that may end up being the longest one of all, and notes and basic plot worked out all the way up to Chapter 14. It's going to be at least 20 Chapters, maybe even 30.

Oh, Alesia. Yeah, she's very loosely based on a character from a point-n-click adventure game called Universe. But most of her is basically a character that I wanted to have Fry meet that is like a gentle version of Leela, if you get what I mean. Almost opposites in some ways, but similar in others. She shares a lonely past like Leela, but while this made Leela strong, dependent and a little angry, a similar situation made Alesia timid, lonely and sad. And perhaps that's what Fry feels Leela is lacking: gentleness. Will he fall for Alesia instead? You'll just have to read and find out.

Yeah, good spotting. Baldur is based quite heavily on Vegeta from DBZ. I changed him a little, and tried to give him a little more humour by adding the fact that he has this normal happy life and is forced to live normally despite his strength and anger problems. He'll become more deeply involved in the plot later.  :)

Yeah, sounds good to me, maybe i should make a promo picture, too bad i can't you know, DRAW!

otherwise i would have. i would most likely put in various characters, even some not shown yet, along with some other sceces from various episodes, you know, like Ra's ships, techno bugs, the new Planet Express Ship, all that stuff.

I love the idea of a gentler leela character. good thinking, keeps the reader thinking, the only one who does not have to wonder about the love is you, so i hate you, yet, i love the story. Also, in DBZ vagetta already has a peaceful life, married to bulma, child named Trunks, last i checked it was 10 years after that whole buu thing and there was another tournament.....

keep up the good work....

Futurama:

Repair/Re-release - "Curse of the One-Eyed Jacks" (an enhanced fanfic)
  • [Note: This fic was released prior to "Leela's Homeworld"]  Leela's quest to find her planet of origin leads to her crossing paths with space pirates, a soldier who seems to know a great deal about her, and the Earth Army's mysterious Special Assignment Forces.  When Leela learns about her people will she stay true to her adopted home or live as a queen among enemies of her friends?

Finish - "Xenophobia" (working title)
  • [Note: A sequel to "Curse...", still ignoring "Leela's Homeworld" revelations, although I could probably change it easily] A secret society of human powerbrokers determines that Earth must be purged of 'freaks' like mutants and aliens.  The consensus in the organization is that the freaks be relocated to a colony on the Moon (which will 'unexpectedly' depressurize).  Anti-relocation protests turn deadly as SAF Division 8 is attacked by a riotous mob.  Can the Planet Express crew expose the upper-level conspiracy surrounding the plan and save non-human life on Earth?

Others:
Law and Order - "Eye of the Sniper"
Harry Potter and the Chaos Orb
The Six Million Dollar Man

I'm currently in the early stages of writing my next fanfic. This one will involve Fry becoming irresistable to women with the help of one of the Professor's inventions, but, as you can imagine, it comes with a catch. I'm still working out the details, but I have a couple of nice twists planned for it.
I have a lot of free time this week, so if I don't catch a nasty case of writer's block, it should be finished in the later part of next week.

I'm over half-way done with the first part of my What If fanfic "Wouldn't It Be Nice If...".  In a shameless self-plug and out of sheer boredom, I present the first scene...

Quote
Scene: Professor’s lab.

(Once again, the Professor has called everyone in to take a gander at the What If machine.  He stands by his work table where the machine sits.  Hooked up to the machine is what looks like a treadmill, except it is glowing bright blue.  Beside the What If machine is a helmet and a pair of goggles.  The crew stands around the Professor in a semi-circle; their emotions ranging from bored to uneasy.)

Professor:  Now, I’m sure you’re wondering why I’ve called you here.

Bender: No.

Professor: (ignoring him) I’ve created a new way to experience the What If machine and I want one of you to try it.

Leela:  Why didn’t you try it yourself?

Professor:  And expose myself to harmful radiation?  Oh, my, no.  Now, Fry, would you mind going first?

Fry: (hesitating) Is it safe?

Professor:  Of course! (He picks up the helmet and goggles and hands them to Fry) Now, put these-

Bender:  Whoa, whoa!  I’m supposed to go first!  Me, loveable old Bender!

Professor:  I’m sorry, Bender, but I need someone who isn’t an essential part of the crew.

Fry:  You mean important, right?

Professor:  Sure, whatever.  (He motions to the “treadmill”.) This is my newest invention, the Realitasy-a-lator.  But hooking this up to the What If machine and axing a question, it’s possible to experience the What If as though you were actually taking part in the fantasy.

Fry:  I wasn’t listening.  What’d you say?

Leela:  He means if you swim in the What If, you can actually *feel* like you’re swimming.

Hermes:  Like if you stapled your finger accidentally while filin’ and collatin’ papers, you’d feel pain.

Zoidberg:  Or actually know what eating a full meal twice a day is like!

Fry:  Oh…okay.

(He puts the helmet and goggles on.)

Fry:  Now, what do I do?

Professor:  Stand on the Realitasy-a-lator and axe a question in the direction of the microphone, while I try to find the button to turn it on.

(Fry steps onto the Realitasy-a-lator and adjusts the helmet as the Professor fumbles around in his pockets.)

Fry:  Okay…make this count.  It’s gotta be something amazing, something no one’s ever felt or thought of before…I know! (To the machine)  What if Leela and I were married…again?
Should be out soon, along with several accompanying pieces of art.  I'm still debating whether a scene I've written featuring Amy is necessary.

Hey, guess what! I'm writing again, too! Here's an early scene from my newest, "...But What I really Want to Do is Direct" (pending title, until I can think of a better one):

Quote
(Exterior CGI of PE HQ. Interior: Fry and Bender are seated on the couch, vegging)

Rod Serling Sound-Alike: You are entering another dimension, one where things may not be as they appear. Or maybe it’s full of vampires. Whatever floats your boat. We’re flexible. But whatever it is, it’s behind… The Scary Door.

(Cut to the interior of a hospital. We see a woman with her head wrapped in bandages. The doctors and nurses are all in the shadows, so we can’t see their faces.)

RSSA: Our special tonight, available with your choice of soup or salad, is Maggie Jones, who is about to find that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Doctor: We’ve done all we could, Miss Jones. Now, all we have to do is remove the bandages.

(POV shot as Maggie’s bandages are slowly peeled off. When they’re finally off, the doctors and nurses gasp in horror)

Doctor 2 (horrified): No change.

(Close up Maggie’s face, revealing she is, in fact, a beautiful woman. Pull back to reveal everyone else is hideously ugly)

Maggie: NOOOOOOOO!!!

(Suddenly, the roof of the hospital is torn off, and a gigantic six-year-old girl reaches in and grabs all the people)

Fry: I don’t even know why I still watch this show. Every episode ends the same way.

(Enter Prof. Farnsworth. The other members of the crew gather)

Prof: Good news, everyone! I’m off to the Hellman-Mayo Clinic to have all my internal organs replaced. I’m especially looking forward to my new set of gonads, oh my yes.

(Collective shudder from everyone else)

Prof: Of course, this will be a very long operation, so, for the month that I’ll be away, I’m leaving my most trusted employee in charge…

(Hermes steps forward)

Prof: …Scruffy.

Bender: Who the hell is Scruffy?

Scruffy: Who the hell’re you?

Prof: Off I go! *shuffles away slowly*  Yes, here I go, I’m going now…

(Bender picks Prof. F up and hurls him out the door)

Bender: Well, that solves that problem. Now what?

Fry: Ditch work?

Leela: Yeah, I’ll go along with that.

Scruffy: Now hold on. Y’think that just ‘cause ol’ Scruffy’s in charge here, you’re gonna have it easy? Y’think Scruffy’s gonna let ya goof off and do whatever you want? Well, think again. Scruffy’s gonna work ya harder then ever. Zoidberg, get me a soda. Rest of you, take the month off.

Zoidberg: Hooray! Employee of the month, here I come!

(Pointless ext. shot of PE)

Fry: Wow, a whole month off! We can do all the things I ever wanted to do, but already did so many times they’re boring!

Bender: Or we could watch TV and drink. They got this new reality show where they strap people t’ live grenades… an’ then they make ‘em eat worms!

Fry (awed): Truly, TV executives are gods among men.

(Leela scoffs)

Fry: What?

Leela:  All you ever do is watch TV. Don’t you ever feel the urge to do something… cultural?

(Fry and Bender groan)

Leela: Look, I know you probably think that anything that doesn’t have beer commercials is boring, but the arts can really enrich your life! Besides, if you watch any more of those mindless shows, your brain will shrivel away to nothing.

Fry: No, it… uh… uh… Leela, help me out. What’s that word that means the opposite of “will”?

Bender: Besides, we did something cultural last week. I beat up a street mime and Fry held ‘im down for me.

Leela: That doesn’t count. It’s not culture, it’s public service.

Fry: Maybe there’s something cultural on TV… like, chicks making out or something. (flips it on)

Leela: That’s not…

(The news is on)

Morbo: …which will soon doom you all. MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Linda: Ha ha ha ha ha. In other news, today marks the opening of the annual New New York Film Festival. Celebrities from all over the galaxy will converge on the city to celebrate the spirit of the independent filmmaker, while shamelessly promoting their latest mindless blockbusters.

Morbo: Morbo took a film class when he attended NYU, you know. My student film was called “Truth Vs. Beauty”. *grave* Many died.

Fry: Hey, why don’t we go to that? Watching movies is kinda like watching TV, except with a bigger screen and a smellier bathroom.

Bender: And there’ll be plenty of celebrities for me to harass!

Leela: Well…  okay. See if anyone else wants to go.

Zoidberg: Ooh, pick me, Zoidberg! My middle name is culture! You might even say I have culture coming out of my armpits.

*a beat*

Zoidberg: We were talking about bacteria, right?

No compromises is a 2 Part fic, only Part 1 has been written to date, I know, I'm the author, add I'm figuring the second parts plot out, while planning another fic starring Fry.

Minds Apart Part 3 has finally been started on by Andy.

Anachrist, due to the way it's written, CGEF accidentally split Part 1 into 2 parts, so when I get Part 2 written, confusion will reign.
