That's cool. You should make sneak previews a regular thing. Just how long are you expecting to make this fic? Not that i'm complaining or anything, cause believe me i'm not. The longer the better, but i think this fic is officially the longest futurfic there is. Are you gonna do another after this is done?

a) I may make sneak previews a regular thing, they seem to be in demand now 
b) It's looking at about 25 or 26 Chapters now... a lot has been basically planned ahead. 30 at the most.
c) Yeah, I'll probably write something else afterwards.

I'm working on the third chapter of NMFAG part 2, and I hope to have that out by the end of the month.  Hopefully it'll be a little lighter in tone than the first two chapters.

While I'm doing that, I'm also going to start another story in my spare time as well, so if you want to get a little spoiled, then take a look below, if not, then just be patient for a while.

Leela turned back to the strange female standing in front of her.

Leela: Hey, wait a minute.  I’ve got a few questions for you, and you’re not going anywhere until you answer them.

Leela reached over and placed her hand on the older lady’s shoulder.  The next thing she knew, she was laying flat on her back, and the knife held to her throat let her know that to struggle could be potentially fatal.  The woman looked coolly down upon her for a moment, and then smiled gently.

Doctor's Leela: There are certain beings and things in this universe that are not be trifled with, and a warrior of the Sevateem is one of them.

Leela stared at him the entire time, trying to get eye contact. Once in a while, she saw his robotic eye briefly lock on her own, then look away again as though nothing happened. So desperate was she to try and get a reaction, she was holding her spoon in the air for a while just staring, until finally, the kidnapper couldn’t stand it any more.

 

“Why don’t you put your fork down while you’re eating? You don’t seem to know any proper table manners,” he chided, half-jokingly.

 

“Am I supposed to show respect to a man who’s just dragged me god-only-knows-how-many light years from my own home?”

 

“A good point... but you still need to show good etiquette. You should be glad I didn’t do any more damage to you than handle you a little too roughly when I brought you down to the ship. And I’m sorry for that.”

 

Leela mumbled something about disrespect at the offender, all the while keeping an eye on him.

 

“Look, Leela. You and I may be stuck on board this ship for a while, so let me tell you some things.” He leaned on his robotic arm, and gestured the human one at her. “Don’t stick that nose of yours anywhere you know it shouldn’t be, don’t mess with me when I’m not in a friendly mood, and drop the innocence act. You’re not fooling anyone.”

Amy poked her head out carefully from under the dashboard, only to quickly retract it back like a turtle into its shell. A shadow passed by the window accompanied by a high-pitched squawk, and it seems like whatever was out there was interested in the ship. With it out in the open like that, she couldn't exactly blame it.

The undercarriage was almost fixed now, but she had abandoned it after seeing the shapes in the sky approaching, recovering her tools and hiding where she now was. They were probably going to land and investigate, so she knew she would have to find Nibbler and get into the secret compartment in the floor of the ship.

"Okay, Amy..." she whispered to herself. "On the count of three, make a break for it... One... two... three!"

She poked her head out, but screamed and pulled herself back again as another shadow passed by. This one was even closer.

"Dame yaru n datta ne!" she cursed to herself. "They must be circling down to the ship! I have to go now, or they'll be here!"

Amy darted out, purposefully ignoring the windows above her in case she freaked out again, and quickly ran out the door and into the crew's quarters. Nibbler was sitting on the bed and just looked oblivious to her. He jabbered something unintelligible, which Amy assumed had something to do with food. Most of what Nibbler said did.

"No time for that now, Nibbler!" she said quickly, picking him up quickly. "We need to hide!"

She took him back into the cockpit and put him gently on one of the seats, then pressed some buttons quickly on one of the consoles. A panel in the floor, one that simply looked like part of the floor until then, slid across. She picked up Nibbler, quickly dove in, then pressed a button on the wall inside it. The panel slide back above her, and a tiny light switched on as soon as it closed. There wasn't much room for her, perhaps two metres in length and width, and only about half a metre high. She just lay there, Nibbler sitting down beside her. He made a slight noise, so she put her index finger to her lips and made a shushing signal to him.

"Splecch!"

When she put her hand back down, it touched something gooey and sticky. She turned her head and looked at it.

"Ewww! Puke-a-tronic!" she exclaimed in whispered disgust. "Why does Fry have to keep throwing Bender's food in here?!"

She secretly admitted that she couldn't blame him though. But she said no more, especially as she could hear heavy footsteps coming from nearby. It sounded like they were coming up the landing-gear steps.

A large, blocky head slowly rose up into the ship, two sinister yellow eyes scanning the area. With a sceptical noise in its throat, the Delphinian rose up into the apparently empty vessel with a few heavy steps, causing the still in disrepair landing gear to creak as his weight left it. He then listened carefully, an ebony pistol grasped between his broad, grey fingers.

"Stratos!" a loud, booming voice echoed around the empty cockpit.

There came no reply to the Delphinian's words. Amy certainly wasn't going to respond. She did jump a little when a heavy foot fell upon the panel above her, as the beast stepped forward and looked around the cockpit again.

"Stratos!" he said with a grunt, whirling around swiftly as he heard a sound. Below him, Amy restrained Nibbler, who was attempting to get to the discarded lump of food Amy had put her hand in earlier. She gritted her teeth and covered his mouth, and Nibbler eventually calmed down. After a few more seconds of listening, the Delphinian moved again, walking back down the steps. Amy sighed with relief as she heard the steps creak once more upon his departure, but decided to stay low for a while.

"That was a close one, Nibbler," she whispered to him, uncovering his mouth.

Outside, the bulky Delphine native was about to mount his dragon once more, but he caught an eye of something on the ground: track and footprints. He walked over and examined them, his eyes following their direction and landing upon the tall cliffs in the distance, around which five other black dragons flew, random red bolts hitting the side of the mountains from their riders.

As you may know, my next, hopefully very complex, long and anticipated, fan fiction has barely started, since it's quite hard to build a gigantic story's out line and connect the plots. I can tell you now, there will be lots of shippiness, a war, a "Mighty One" plot, Bender plot line, plus lots more. (Sheesh, i sound like an advertiser). Hopefully part one'll be out from between one month to many more months. This is because, besides being a natural slacker, I want to make sure the first part will "agree" with the rest of the story, which did not happen at times in my first fic- which is why it's kinda screwy.

So, more reviwers is requested. I have quite a few very helpful reviewers already, but more would be beneficial as it is quite complicated. Plus, you can read the story before anyone else, you lucky bastard!

Well... I originally said early November, but I got on quite a roll last weekend with the writing. So despite a heavy workload as of late, I'm hoping to get it finished this weekend, which means you'll probably see it up at TLZ around Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

Fry staggered back into Panucci's, gasping and sweating.  "Jeez, it's been busy tonight," he said.  "What's with everyone?"

"Ahh, they're just gettin' ready for the show," said Mr. Panucci, sitting at the counter.  "Don't worry, we never get any calls while it's on."

"What show?" asked Fry, who had just noticed the restaurant was otherwise empty.

"You know, Futurama."

"Future-what?"

Panucci gave Fry a strange look.  "Are you sure some of your brain still ain't frozen?"

"I'm sorry, I just don't know what you're talking about."

"I'm talkin' about Futurama, the TV show," said Panucci.

Fry shook his head.

"The most popular TV show in the country?"

Well, it probably won't be completely "non-shippy."  After all, how do you think Fry would feel when he learns the woman he's in love with is a fictional character?  But I won't take that too far, and it won't be the main focus of the story.

Leela knew that she and Fry were meant for each other, but she’d been too proud to admit it so many times before. She’d hurt him so many times, and still felt she could never be forgiven. Of course he would forgive her, but she could not forgive herself for it.

The worst yet had happened after the fiasco at the Metropolitan House of Opera. After Fry played the end of his opera to his very best, she thought that maybe they would have a happy ending together as well. After all, the holograms he had created seemed so happy together...

Safe under the canopy of strange trees, twisted and fanned over into a vaulted ceiling, the rain could not penetrate and drench her. The dark storm clouds above were drizzling their alien precipitation on everything else. Some rows of chapel seats had been hastily arranged in the swampy mud, and Leela had taken her seat already. The wedding was under way.

Leela turned her one eye sadly to the place that Fry should have been sitting. She felt tears well up as she imagined him beside her, cheerful and alive. Nothing could bring the dead back, though, no amount of wishful thinking or mourning would make the slightest difference. They never even recovered the body; it must have been cremated and scattered by the wind. The accident had happened too fast, Leela regretted.

There were no goodbyes.

even if pride was a part of it, i think it goes a lot deeper than that. She probably has a whole list of reasons why dating Fry could be a bad idea.

i know this post is like a day late, but i just thought of a point i hadn't considered before. Leela's disinterest in Fry can't be because of pride cause she dated Sean who obviously meant a lot to her cause she kept mentioning him and if she could have no pride issues with sean considering the discription she gave of him in Devil's hands, then why would she suddenly have pride issues with Fry? Sean has just as many negative attributes as Fry, plus he ended up cheating on her, but she still cares enough to mention him occasionally, and is still evidently miffed at him for cheating on her.

Difference being that Fry is too 'childish' whereas Sean was not... plus Sean had a musical soul or something... at any rate, my fic proves her too damn late, as Fry died a little after his final opera, says it right there in the spoiler...

i know she's too late, that's one of the reasons i so love the idea of this fic. And it's not that it really BOTHERS me, i guess i just feel the need to defend her since i have also had guys like me who i didn't feel the same way for and then felt really guilty about it.

Okay... here's your preview snippet for Chapter 18. I know what I said, but I was bad and ended up writing this recently when I probably should have been studying (I'm failing my course for you guys here!  ). The idea came to me and I had to get it down straight away. It's the opening scene of the chapter, btw, so it's not so much of a spoiler as it is a sneak peek at the opening scene. Hope you all like it.

Darkness was broken by vehement light, and the sound of a distant, but deep and wreathing, voice.

"YOU!" it echoed around him. Amazing considering there were no surrounding entities for sound to reverberate off. This Fry didn't see until his eyes adjusted to the glare, and he slowly rose to his feet from the hard surface he lay upon.

"Yeargh!"

Fry jumped with a scream, almost toppling over as he saw that what he stood upon was only just large enough to hold him. As he steadied himself, he looked around.

"Wow!"

The exclamation of awe was nothing more than a whispering breath. The bright, pearly-white horizon stretched endlessly around him, a vast blanket of apricot pink cloud encompassing everything both below and above it. A refreshingly cool breeze whispered across Fry's left cheek and rustled his hair slightly, accompanied by a soothing and tranquil whistle that seemed to sing from the peachy clouds themselves. For a brief moment, Fry forgot he was standing on such a small area and just took a moment to relax in the calming surrounding. Then, the lack of logic came to him.

"Wait?" he said to himself. "Where am I? Why am I here? What happened?"

He looked down, examining his support. It seemed to be a tall, thin rocky tor, not unalike some of the ones on Delphine, though coloured a reddish brown rather than dull grey. It appeared to disappear down into the flossy clouds beneath.

"YOU!"

The voice suddenly echoed around Fry again, causing him to almost topple off the edge. He steadied himself, sighing with relief, and looked around nervously. Turning to examine the area, he caught a glimpse of something familiar in the distance.

"Guys?!" he yelled.

Waving back at him in the distance stood Leela, Bender, Amy, Alesia and Zoidberg. They also appeared to be standing upon a tall rock platform, one that could just hold them. He couldn't help but notice though how Bender was back in his normal body, which seemed strange.

"Do you know how we got here?!" he yelled across at them. There came no response, just blank stares and continuous waving. Before he could ask anything further though, the structure they stood upon began to slowly lower into the clouds.

"No, wait! Come back!!"

Fry's plea didn't stop them from sinking away, and in less than a minute, they disappeared completely from his sight. He looked concerned.

"Okay," he said to himself in a defeated sigh. "This has to be a dream... It must be!"

Fry felt a sudden jerk underneath him, causing him to scream and attempt to steady himself. He gazed downwards in shock as the platform began to break away. Despite all efforts to regain balance, he eventually fell from the unstable structure, and began to plummet into the clouds. Just before his vision became a whirring fog though, he did hear the voice another time.

"YOU!!"

"YEEEEEEEEAAARRGH!!!"

Gravity pulled Fry through the misty haze as he screamed, the gelid wind burning his face and eyes as it tore across his body. Fry felt the speed and chill would kill him before he ever reached the ground... assuming there was a ground. But then, Fry began to slow. His rocketing descent became more of a float, but his vision was still hampered by the cloud.

"YOU!!"

The voice boomed around him again amongst the fog. If this wasn't scary enough for Fry, a distant and constant sound wafted up from below. A sound that froze Fry's blood. A sound he had heard before. A sound, that was getting closer.

"Oh, please God, NO!!" Fry shuddered.

The mist began to slowly clear, the sound became a roar, and Fry's plea blared into a scream. A searing tangerine radiance burned against his form, and hellish flames of fear shone in his eyes. A blistering wind of pure pain tore across his skin, as for the second time in the past few days, Fry found himself staring into the demonic mouth of the planet-devouring leviathan. It screeched at him from below, the metal surface around the mouth shining with the vile red reflection of its own pestilent flare.

Fry held his hands out as he began to be pulled down into the mouth, yelling at the top of his lungs and watching his own hands slowly burn away right in front of his eyes. Then, everything became a blinding white-hot before only darkness returned, and a final noise echoed into his mind.

"YOU!!!"

Expect the release late November, early December. A week and a half and I continue to start writing again

Just a short question..
I'm currently working on a fan fic (yes my very first! Wohoooo!) and just like to ask something from all u estb fan-fic'ter out there...
Would it be better to release it part by part or just put the whole chunk into the fray at once?

I mean would it really piss off the server mod if u like flood his/her inbox with a 20 word files?

Well it depends really. I released mine part by part but that was but that's because I never wrote more than one chapter at a time. That being said when TLZ restarted Graham did compress my first fic into one.
So if your fic is complete I guess it's better to send it in as one, since that means it's less effort for us lazy people to read through it.

I'm still plodding away with No Compromises Part II, a couple of lucky people have seen early sections of it, but be warned you may need to read Part I (in 2 parts on CGEF) before reading it.  Hope to have it finished in the near/far future.

I'm not into releasing spoilers as I don't want to spoil the storyline, plus I hate spoilers anyway which may account for that statement.

Well, ChAnCe, if it feels more like a series, or it's pretty long, then go with parts. If there are at least one big climax I'd say go with seprate parts, for suspense and sepereation for better organization. If it feels like the story flows better with no seperate parts, then don't break it up.

Suspense is gooooood....

Just put it out in different parts. Splitting it up usually works if it's shippy or just incredibly long (Delicious Surprises and UoM).

i prefer all in one go, cause if you release it in parts and then for whatever reason you never finish the story then you've gotten people interested and then just left them hanging. There are several fics like that on TLZ and fanfiction.net that started out really awesome and then never finished.

sure why not. i was mostly thinking of 'The Dark Side of Doop" and "The Revival of Project Albia" but only cause those where the only 2 i could think of off hand, but if you got unfinished work too, then i'm sure i could spare a little bit of indignation in your general direction as well, i mean...if you insist..

I can't speak for others, but I wouldn't mind big files. Some of the fanfics sent to TLZ exceeds 35 pages/file in MS Word. 20 pages would come slightly above average I think, so go ahead.

I agree 100 %. In the end it's completely up to the author, but it really sucks when great stories are left unfinished.
