I writing a comic book script called "Spin Evil Genius" about and evil super villian who retires to become a baker because he wanted to go into a more rewarding field and of course deep down is still evil. I just need to finish up the script and find someone to draw it and crap... you know the usual drill for us crappy drawers. here are a few lines of dialouge from it:


FAT CUSTOMER: I'll have a blueberry pie please!

SPIN (reaches under table and pulls out pie):Here ya go bud.
                                             SPIN (Winks):I had it ready already for ya just like always!

FAT CUSTOMER:I don't know what it is Mr. Spin, But I can't stop eating the pies you make!

SPIN:Well you might say we add an extra ingredent that none else does!

FAT CUSTOMER:What's that, Care?

SPIN (Very Happy): No Crack!

Fat Customer Just looks shocked

SPIN (Laughing):I'm just kidding!

FAT CUSTOMER: Oh, ha ha ha ha!

SPIN (Still Happy): Every bakery adds crack.

Fat Customer looks shocked once again

Skimmed Chapter 13 Ken, but what I read was exceptional I must say - it really had me going. Perhaps the uber-goryness was not always required. To die in combat is never a nice experience, not everything needn't be blown into small body parts. However, controversial the rest will be, it is very good and very moving.
I haven't read the entire story through yet in any great detail. But I sure as hell will soon, once I've finished mine

I have just, just begun the first draft of part of the first chapter of my next fc.  It's subject to change a lot, so I don't think this will be out in a hell of a while.  But I won't desert it.  I have big plans for it.  I'm currently debating if I should give out spoliers.

I've finished the first part of a new story. It's kind of experimental for me because it's in script format but I hope it's enjoyable. I'm aiming for scary but I'm also trying to put in as much humor as I can.

I just got a pretty good Futurama fanfic idea... a Halloween one... mwahaha...

A Halloween That Really Bites:While Leela is on a one-weekend vacation, missing Halloween at Planet Express, the professor decides to do some very twisted experiments that she is not there to object to.

She returns to find things a bit more upside-down than she'd expected. Hope she likes Fry's new, nocturnal personality: Nosfryatu.


The idea came from a mixed-up bit of fanart I drew the other day, which portrayed Fry as a vampire. I liked it so much I decided to think up a plot for it. There will be a bit of romance in it... maybe... I'm not a huge shipper unless the ship is ME + FRY, hehe.

Well, next week will be my last week of class before a two week vacation... which means lots of writing time, so you expect to see Chapter 15 of "Universe of Malice" out mid this month. Here's a brief scene spoiler, partly inspired by Venus' comments about the final scene of the last chapter. I was going to do something similar, but thanks to Venus for reminding me that Leela's life has been "no bed of roses either"

Alesia was then alerted by a source of light coming from her left. She glanced over to see the object of her affection standing there in the doorway.
"So this is where you are..." Fry said, walking towards her. She gave him a weak smile as he sat beside her.
"Hi," she responded. "I was just in here thinking about some things... needed to get away from the noise."
"Ah," Fry nodded. "I've been thinking too lately... well, as much as I can!"
He chuckled to himself, then his face saddened as his mirth evolved into a sigh.
"I just hope Leela's alright?"
"I'm sure she'll be fine," Alesia replied, rather forcibly on her part. Fry managed a smile, though his eyes were still ridden with concern.
"You're right," he said. "Leela's a tough girl... I mean, she had to be to get through life."
Alesia's stomach suddenly felt a nasty jab from the inside, which was followed by a dull, constant pain afterwards.
"Wha... what do you mean?" she asked reluctantly.
"Oh, of course, you don't know, do you?!" Fry stammered. "Leela was an orphan left by herself as a baby at an orphanarium, when she was just a baby. She grew up without any parents for years. Because she was a cyclops, everybody shunned her as a freak, so she was picked on and didn't have any friends. She also believed she was an alien, the only member of her race on Earth. She searched for years to find another member of her species. I don't think she was ever truly happy until she joined Planet Express. She eventually found out she was really a mutant and met her parents just a few years ago."
Fry smiled warmly, gazing out into nothingness.
"I'm was so happy when she did. It was like she'd finally found her place in life. But she was always so strong, even when things were down. She was a fighter and she never gave up. I've always admired and loved that about her."
Alesia's stomach was now in knots of guilt. With every word Fry had spoken since the word 'orphan' she had been feeling more and more shameful and malign. It was too much for her now.
"Stop it!" she said. "I've heard enough!"
"Hey... I know it's a sad story," Fry said, shocked at her reactions. "But there's no need to get angry at me!"
Alesia frowned submissively.
"No! I'm not angry with you... I'm angry with me! I... I've done something horrible!"
"Horrible?!" Fry stammered in disbelief. "What have you done that could be considered horrible?"
She sighed heavily.
"It's more what almost didn't do! Back then, when I told you about the Delphinians and where they probably took Leela... I-I was battling with my conscience to do it."
"What?!" Fry exclaimed. "Wha... what do you mean by that?"
She sighed again.
"What I mean is... I didn't want to tell you... An-and I almost didn't."
Fry leapt up from the edge of the bed, pointing accusingly at Alesia with a look of anger on his face. She flinched with fear as he did, suddenly feeling like he had created a huge chasm between them. Nibbler suddenly decided this was a good moment to scurry away.
"WHAT?!!" he yelled down at her. "How... I mean, how could you be so cruel?!! Why didn't you want to help us help Leela?!!"
"Because!" she whimpered. "She doesn't like me... And... on top of that... I don't want her to take you away from me!"
Alesia's puppy-dog eyes of sadness didn't even penetrate Fry. It was as if he had put up a force field or wall between them to prevent any sympathies getting to him. He growled loudly.
"How could you be so selfish?!!" he hollered. "Especially after your previous crusades for helping and against violence! You helped that freakin' Seilarch back there, but you want Leela to be taken into slavery just because of some petty jealousy?!! Who KNOWS what those Delphiniums are doing to her?!!"
"I know!" Alesia wept loudly, her head drooped down in remorse. "I'm sorry!" she added, gazing up at him with pained eyes.
"Sorry isn't going to help Leela!" Fry barked back. "You'd just better hope to God that she's alright when we get there, because if she isn't...!!!
Alesia feared the worst to come. Her heart was preparing to be shattered, or prepared as much as it could be. Fry didn't finish his sentence, he just turned towards the doorway, and as he was about to step through, he narrowed his eyes and glared at her.
"If you want me to choose you over Leela regarding my decision... you've certainly unhelped your case!"
He slammed the door behind him, leaving Alesia sitting in the darkness by herself. She sniffed.
"I just wanted you to myself..." she whispered to where she last saw him. She squeezed her eyes tightly, realising how right Fry was. She had been selfish and had sacrificed her own principles and dignity in the process. She just hoped that Fry could forgive her. But first, she would have to forgive herself.

My first (and as yet untitled) fanfic plods along at a pretty slow pace, and it's probably the dumbest thing I could do right now to post a release date.  But I'm gonna put an incredibly vauge one up anyway to try and force me to hurry up.  I hope to have it out late September, but it would be more realistic to guess mid to late October, or even early November if all does not go well (or if I suddenly get a life - unlikely, but still...).

Aha, I have an idea! A good one! I just need a bit of help from you experienced writers.... I've got this cool idea for a fanfic trilogy, but I need to know:

1) How long is the average Futurama fanfic (# of words?)
2) Any tips on making it seem okay (besides sticking to proper punctuation and spelling)?

it doesn't matter how long fics are. Some like "Measure" are a few paragraphs long and some like "Universe of Malice" never end. Just write until the story is done. Don't even look at the number of pages you have. If you think it's getting to be too long for a reader to finish all in one go just release it in sections. If it's good we will read it regardless of length.

It's great but i feel it's just too short. Great stories like that should go on for awhile, but that's just my opinion because it's not that short anyway.

i am working on a fic right now called I didn't know. It's about fry finding a long lost family member who, surprisingly, was cryogenically frozen too. Fry started to have these weird dreams whith a shadowy figure saying, Don't forget me and then disappearing without Fry getting a good look at the person. It is through  fry's eyes and I think you might enjoy it. everybody else that has read it has. But i am not finished with it yet but u are welcome to read the first 5 parts.

Don't rush it. Remember that it takes an entire team of talented professionals several weeks to come up with a typical Futurama script. As for writing tips, here is what David X Cohen had to say (fairly long read, but worth it):

 

"We've found that Futurama episodes seem to work best when there is a compelling dramatic story underlying the comedy. For that reason, we try to take seriously both the epic nature of science fiction and the human emotions of the characters (even if they're not technically human). Interestingly, perhaps, these are things that need to be worked out very carefully at the beginning of the process, yet are the most important to the finished product. If you de-rail early on with the story and emotions, it's very hard to patch things up later. So: for us to be fully satisfied with an episode, it needs to be funny and dramatic at the same time. A tall order!"

(On the Roswell episode): "A lot of Futurama is the function of stealing our favorite ideas from science fiction through the ages. And this is such a rich mine of science-fiction ideas. The more people are familiar with our starting point, the more crazy we can go with it without losing them."

(And from another interview):

"The biggest consideration is that we actually do still have to have an emotion story. And I don't necessarily mean it's a tearjerker, but I mean the characters must have understandable human motivations for doing the things they do in the episode and that there's a real conflict of some kind either between two characters or between one character and their circumstances, the same as you'd expect in any sort of drama. We really work on that. We work on the futuristic details of the show.

One of the basic operating premises, which is a credo of Matt Groening, is that you can put the characters in any sort of crazy, bizarre [situation] you can dream up, but they have to react in a way which people can sympathize with, even if we're talking about robots and lobsters. They still count as people. If something really crazy is going on they have to react like it's crazy. And if it's scary, they have to be scared. And if they're in love, they have to be in love. That's one of the things we're most careful with, is to try to get people wrapped up in a story which they actually care about. And once we have that, we start to [add] on the futuristic sci-fi stuff.

I think what we found as we went along is that the comedy in a show like this plays much better if there really is a good dramatic science-fiction story underlying. Science fiction is such that the visuals and all are so amazing that you actually have to play the drum kind of seriously underneath the comedy, or it starts to just seem goofy and stupid if you don't take yourself a little bit seriously. Trying to get a story that would work, even without the jokes."

i have a few tips for you,Slashco. I am an experienced writer so, where to begin? ok, firts off, when you have your characters say something you have to make people feel what they're saying, like if it's a dramatic sentence you have to make the people who read it feel like it's dramatic. If it's a funny sentence you have to make the people who read it feel like it's funny. Catch my drift? ok, i've learned something over the years i've spent of writing, use details. If the person like in my story walks into like a dark black room use details to describe the room, like could the character see anything in the room? that's basically all u need to know to write a good fanfic. hope i helped u.

I am still working on my 'the sting' fic. I'm behind and i'm lazy and i have 4-8 hours of class a day at different times every day. So it's real slow going, but i havn't ditched out on the thing yet.

"Uh... Fry," said Amy. "Could I talk to you for a second?"
"Sure," shrugged Fry. "Why?"
"Well... it's about Alesia. Are you totally sure we can trust her? I mean... she said herself that she didn't want us to find Leela initially. How do we know she didn't lead us on a wild goose chase?"
"I believe her," Fry stated. "She was just jealous, that's all. But she understands now and is trying to be helpful, even though she probably doesn't want to. Like that time I took my ex-girlfriend Michelle to see a movie about giant spiders. She was scared of insects, but still pretended to like the film, even though she really didn't. Although she screamed a lot, and spilled her soda on my lap, and my pants got all sticky. But she didn't leave! She stayed there with me. Of course, that may have also been because she had sat on some chewing gum, and was too embarrassed to leave. We had to wait an extra ten minutes after the movie had finished so that nobody could see the gum stuck to her butt. But this is exactly like that."
"What, so you're saying Alesia is helpful because she's got gum stuck to her butt?" Amy said, scratching her head.
"Yeah," Fry smiled. "Wait... no... What I mean is, Alesia's afraid of spiders, so she'll..."
Fry trailed off and scratched his head too.
"Uh... what were we talking about again?"
Unknown to them both, Alesia was about to enter the room to see what was going on. However, she hesitated when she heard what Amy said next, staying out of sight just to the side of the entranceway.
"I was wondering if you think Alesia is trustworthy?" Amy explained.
"Oh! Yeah... yeah, I trust her. I don't think she'd do anything that'd risk her losing me again."
Alesia smiled to herself. Then, she continued to listen, leaning against the wall.
"Do you mind if I ask you what it is you see in her?" Amy queried honestly.
"Huh?" Fry said.
"Oh, don't get me wrong!" Amy said quickly. "She seems really nice and all, and I suppose she's... fairly cute, but... what is it that drew her to you? I mean, you've almost avoided interest in anybody who wasn't Leela for the past three years, as if it was Leela or nobody for you, and now suddenly this! I'm just curious."
Fry sighed with a huge smile.
"I don't really know. I mean, a lot of the time I'm only interested in girls purely because of their looks, but... there's something more here. She's not just pretty, she seems so... I dunno... kind, sweet and gentle. She's like this mystical princess from another dimension or something. And she's so fragile too. It's like she really depends on me to be there for her and care, which is really cute. And she accepts me for who I am, and looks past my stupidity, dumbness and sub par intelligence"
Alesia blushed outside.
"Awwwwwww..." Amy said with a cute grin. "That's soooo sweet!"
She chuckled.
"She's not like Leela at all, is she?" she noted.
"Yeah," Fry chuckled. Then his face suddenly looked shocked.
"Oh my God!" he exclaimed. "That's it!"
"Huh?" asked Amy.
"Don't you see?" he said. "That's why I like Alesia so much.... because she's not like Leela! Or rather, she has the things I want Leela to be more of! I want Leela to be gentler. I want Leela to be more fragile and depend on me. And I want Leela to accept me for what I am."
Fry buried his face in his hands.
"It's like she's the missing link to my perfect Leela or something?!" he said.
"But if Leela was all those things... she wouldn't be Leela," Amy said.
"But she can be," said Fry. "Leela can be gentle, fragile, dependent and accepting with regards to me. There's just one thing getting in the way..."
"What?" Amy asked.
"Leela doesn't love me," Fry sighed. "Or at least not in the way or to the extent that I love her."
Fry groaned, pulling on his hair a bit.
"It's so hard! I love Leela. I mean I really, really love Leela! But she's been pushing me away all this time, and now I'm actually in a position where I can be with somebody who has all the missing attributes I want to see in her... but it's not her, it's somebody else!"
He looked up at Amy. She looked concerned for him. Outside the room, Alesia's heartbeat had quickened.
"Oh, Amy!" he sighed. "What can I do?! I don't want to leave Leela... but... how much longer can I put up with being pushed aside by her? And... can I really let this opportunity pass me by?"
There was an awkward silence for a while. Amy broke it.
"I can't make that decision for you, Fry. That's up to you."
She stood up.
"I'm going to get some sleep," she said, changing to a more cheery tone. "Wake me up if the scanner finds anything, okay?"
Alesia jumped a little. She decided that it was probably good to leave now, and made her way quickly into the nearest doorway, which happened to be the bathroom, closing the door behind her.
"Yeah," Fry responded to Amy's question in a heavy sigh. "I will."
Amy left the room, closing the door and leaving Fry alone. It suited him fine, as he wanted some time to think by himself for a while.
Meanwhile, in the bathroom, Alesia looked at her reflection in the mirror. She couldn't believe what she had heard. She didn't know that Leela hadn't totally reciprocated feelings back to Fry. Fry loved Leela, but Leela didn't totally love him back. In fact, she had turned away Fry's advances. Something in her told her that this was something she could use to her advantage. But something else told her that she couldn't risk losing Fry again in the process. As long as she took the advice Fry gave her, she should be fine.
"Taking Leela away from me isn't the answer. You have to prove your love of me... not your hate of her," she whispered to her mirrored image, repeating Fry's words exactly.
And that's what she needed to do. She needed to prove that she could give him the love that Leela hadn't shown him. Her key wasn't getting rid of the competition... it was simply beating it.

Oh ho ho!  This sounds very interesting.  I'm really looking forward to chapter 16 now.
