Yeah, I'd also like to apologize. I'm glad you weren't offended. :)

I don't get why you hated his "Bender Becomes a Cop" idea so much. He obviously came up with the idea for the purposes of entertainment, and he wouldn't want Bender as a cop in real life.

Stum, there are two things you need to stop doing on this forum; Spamming and Disrespecting other people's opinions.

Everyone doesn't have to have the exact same opinion as you. Just because Shiny doesn't like Kurt's "Cop" idea, doesn't mean you have to go out of your way to explain why she is wrong and you are right.
And don't act like this is the only time you've disrespected opinions; you've done it countless times in almost every single thread I post in. Every time, you basically say that X's opinion is incorrect and that yours is 100% right. You seriously need to stop doing that, as it makes you look like an extremely immature child.

As for your spamming, posts like
Thanks.
or
Okay.
Are entirely unacceptable. As Beamer mentioned to you in some other thread, this is a Forum, not a Chat Room. Don't take this spamming problem lightly; if you continue this activity, it will eventually get you into alot of trouble, and even potentially get you banned.

Please take this advice, and stop doing these things, for your own benefit.

Actually, I meant that Stum will read that, deny everything MRM said about him, and continue Stumming around.
Sad, but true. At least he'll get the general idea that he's been a nuisance lately. :hmpf:
This thread should just be renamed 'Point out what's wrong with Bad Users' :p

I never said I hate the "X Becomes a Cop" idea; I just said it doesn't sound like a good one.

^ And that kids is what we call spamming!

Before I get myself worked up, I think any episode with good Bender humor, a good sci-fi plot, and some good shipping is as close to a perfect episode as I would ever want.

(edit): Not you MRM, I mean Stum.

The reason "X becomes a cop" is a laughing stock is because it's ridiculously unimaginative. Characters conveniently getting new jobs is a really lazy premise for an episode. Additionally, Bender becoming a cop would be rehashing "Law and Oracle".

It has nothing to do with him being inept at the job.

Solid Gold Bender, you don't tell penis jokes because your penis is a joke. :laff:

No offense to SGB, of course. But you've gotta admit, that was pretty damn funny. :laff:

Sorry...but nope.

It was already laid out that the same (or at least similar) job will serve different plots when performed by different characters. E.g. "Let a character become a musician" was as well the premise for "Devil's Hands" and "40% Leadbelly". Both episodes turned out very different.

"Law and Oracle" was based on the premise "Outsmart someone who can see the Future". Taking Fry as normally rather dumb character provided a sharp contrast.

In Bender's case, "A lawbreaker suddenly has to uphold it" would probably turn out to be the episodes focus, completely different from Fry's plot  (no one doubted that Fry would try to be a good/honest cop).

Can we just ban him for spamming?

I do not see a legitimate reason for that.
Stum uses relatively few quotations, and most of his posts do not contain them at all.

You know what's more annoying that stum's one-word posts? Everyone bitching about them. Seriously, just give it a rest. I'm tired of seeing every thread get derailed over trivial crap.

I'm not saying the characters should never get new jobs, I'm saying that "X becomes a Y" is a really poor foundation for a plot. Obviously, there's exceptions. "Law and Oracle" isn't a great episode because of Fry becoming a cop; it's a great episode because of the awesome sci-fi and future-predicting themes.

In Bender's case, "A lawbreaker suddenly has to uphold it" would probably turn out to be the episodes focus, completely different from Fry's plot  (no one doubted that Fry would try to be a good/honest cop).

This... actually sounds kind of neat when you put it that way.

It pretty much depends on the way you describe the premise; If you simply say, "Bender becomes a Cop", then the episode automatically sounds bad. But when you describe it in depth, they way Hein did, it sounds pretty good. The less of a description you give, the worse the story sounds.

But in the original thread when KurtPikachu suggested that, someone said "Yeah... Bender would be a great cop" and someone else said "Sounds like a fine, law-abiding robot".

I believe The Inhuman Torch touched upon this a little bit. Someone who most likely is an arsonist, has to fight fire instead. The story would of course turn out a little different with a different occupation.

You know, I'm surprised nobody reported this thread to me and I had to discover it on my own.

Infractions:

multiple double posts
one word posts
derailing the thread complaining about each other
memes in lieu of original thoughts/posts

In the future, if you think someone is breaking the rules, report it. Posting to complain about other posters is not "an idea for a perfect episode" and is clearly off-topic.

Not to mention the perfect episode already exists and is called Roswell That Ends Well. ;)

It hits almost every mark: Consistently laugh-out-loud hilarious, clever sci-fi plot, lots of great character moments. The only downside is the lack of Hermes and Amy (though, I guess that was for a good reason, given racial equality at the time), and I suppose some might mark the lack of an emotional component (or shippiness) against it.

Still, these things would all be key ingredients for a perfect episode, in my opinion. A little bit of ALL Futurama's strengths at work, without predominantly falling into one category or the other.

Would you enjoy an episode based entirely around Zoidberg and Scruffy getting locked in a bank vault and the hilarity that would inevitably ensue, similar to the Family Guy episode "Brian and Stewie"?

Not really. The episode would go something like this:

Zoidberg: Help, we're locked in this vault, we are!

Scruffy: Ayup.

Fry: Okay, see you guys in the morning!

That was the subplot of Bender Becomes a Cop, though. I doubt Futurama would rip itself off. :nono:

That's right, this is a stum thread! I seriously forgot who started this thread and assumed it must have been KurtPikachu.

On-topic: No, I wouldn't really want to see a Family Guy episode with Zoidberg and Scruffy playing the parts of Brian and Stewie because I don't think that even makes sense.
