So what if it's incomplete; I'd buy one anyways, just because it looks so great!
On another note, who's missing from it at this point in time? It looks up to date to me.

Fry, Bender, Crushinator, Donbot, Kif, Mom and Poopenmeyer to name a few. There's about 150 characters left on my spreadsheet (which probably sounds like a lot, but it isn't).

It varies greatly, but I'd estimate 10 characters taking about 2 hours.

I feel your pain, man. Over the course of making games, animations, etc. in the past 13 years, I've lost many a project to stupid errors like that. I've learned the hard way to back up on a very frequent basis out of sheer paranoia. Always sucks when it happens, though. Even if you only lose a small fraction of the work, it's difficult to find the will to get back to it afterwards.

Yeah, I've experimented with different coloured backgrounds and when the picture's done I'll probably post a few different variants of it. An actual detailed background (NNY for example) would probably be too distracting.

And like I said, I'm definitely not ceasing work on the picture. In fact I'll probably update it more often like tnuk suggested.

I'd recommend keeping the background as plain as possible. There's already far too much going on in the picture to warrant any more detail.

For now, I reckon I'll have a break from this whole "art" thing. My sanity is on the verge of collapsing.

I don't think any version of this would be desktop-friendly; not unless you like spending ages trying to find the desktop icons.

I know my desktop well enough to navigate it regardless of the picture behind it.

Not that I'm going to demand a widescreen-sized version with a non-transparent background anytime soon, but still, it would certainly be nice someday... I tried to put one together myself but Photoshop keeps crashing every time I try to import your picture.
