And, Moderators, what about  Eyeball? It's not good for my name, when some man brings a very lousy translation of rather old story  and cover himself as "ex-Inf_guard".

If he hadn't have done this, would you have shared your story with us?

Don't get me wrong, stealing is pretty dirty business, especially since he was claiming credit.  However, I'm actually pretty happy that a futurama game I made once is residing on a russian futurama website without my permission.  It tells me that someone thought it was good enough to steal it and post it on their website, and it gives my creation life in places I may never have visited before.  In a way, the idea that someone might steal my art metaphorically conjures up the idea that I am touching the world and the people in it in ways I may or may not have imagined before.  Stealing has spread me out to reach through computer screens and touch people with my hands in inappropriate ways; for that I am thankful more so than irate.

I can't read Russian.  I'm surprised you've all been pretty good at following this individual around.  I did find the thread highly enjoyable.  Not sure who you are quasarbsd, but you seem pretty interesting.

The four people involved in this thread have pretty good english too.  I suppose you're all russian or something similar maybe?  It's nice to meet you, and I'm glad to welcome you with open arms to our peel if you'd like to stay for a little while.

By no means do I condone stealing, and Wild_Cat (who I presume is Inf_guard) said that he wouldn't have minded so much if someone had put effort into translating his work, but I just wanted to expound upon my own opinion of my art.  I create it because I am compelled to create it, and I share it because I am compelled to share it, and thusly it leads its own life to wherever it may be.  I am glad if this was able to be resolved, and that the author may at least receive their credit for the piece they created, in this particular case Inf_guard.

I apologize if my English is confusing.  I am starting to confuse myself these days.

You are welcome here as everyone else is, as we are a family of individuals from many countries.  I would welcome you in my own country and my own home as well if it were permissible.  I am enjoying your company, although I am ignorant and unable to speak in your mother tongue; I would enjoy your continued stay as guests, but there may be barriers for our communications and I apologize before hand for this, as I am not versed in Russian.

I am not Inf_guard, but I try to tell my point of view: if eyeball just translate this and post it here  by his nickname, Inf_guard didn't pay any attention. But eyeball say's that he is Inf_guard, it is wierdy. Also if this story was posted by real Inf_guard, it wiill be with correct translation, not machined (ABBYY Lingvo, PROMPT or Google Translator). This wierdy translation disgraces Inf_guard, P.E.E.L. and futurama.su.

I am aware that you are not Inf_guard.  I am of the believe that Wild_Cat actually is Inf_guard, the author of the story which was horribly translated, probably stolen by eyeball, and posted here on this peels. 

If this is the case, I am glad someone was able to point out that somebody else was posting Inf_guard's story without his/her permission and that Inf_guard was able to come here as Wild_Cat and point this out him or herself.

You have made a good point that it is disgraceful when someone does a poor job of copying off of someone else's work.  To be sure, I am upset when my own arts are duplicated poorly, not because they were stolen, but because I made specific choices for very precise reasons which were important to me when I created it.  However, as I suggested, we would never have known about Inf_guard here at peel, had not this thief eyeball tried to not very well steal his work and google translator it to us.

Lastly.  I am not accusing anyone here of stealing anything from me.  No one here has stolen anything from me that I know of.  I was saying that I have had my artworks "stolen" before, and that it did not upset me; instead it made me happy.  I also said that I would not mind even if I knew someone here who had stolen from me, for what is mine shall be theirs, and it should be good that they should have something of value to carry with them.

IMHO, word "stealing" incongruosly here, i think word "was used" is more relevant, because your was happy, not angry.

If two parties cannot agree on a specific point, then as civil human beings they may agree upon one thing, civilly that they both disagree on a specific point and that it is not an ill issue with which to draw upon bad blood.

Not stealing, it’s more like compliment for our stories, but with very-very bad translation with help of “my friend Google”. And only after that us irritates his impersonation and ascribing this “translation” to “me” (Inf_guard).
I mean – he don’t bother himself with another reading and basic correction of blatant mistakes. Eventually, it machine-translation and Google sometimes can erase any meaning from sentences of alters it in some crazy way. Two examples from first scene:

- The guy hardly raised forever… - Actually it should mean “The guy hardly raised his eyelids”   (Парень тяжело приподнял веки). Dumb Google understood word «веки» (eyelids) how old form for word «века» (centuries). You can see the result.
- Are you asleep in front of the box – In original meaning it was “You fallen asleep before TV-set” (Ты уснул перед ящиком). Google don’t know that «ящик» (“box” or “crate”) it’s a Russian slang word for TV-set (after CRT TVs).

Also eyeball don’t bother himself with correction of not translated Russian words, it remain in text in form of bizarre transliteration, like “expedition ksenologov” (Expedition of Xenologists). Or “for the health meklontsev” – it references to old PC game “Master of Orion” and Russians sci-fi book inspired by this game, where “Meklar” are race of reptilian cyborgs and all phrase is a toast “Here for health of Meklar”.
Another bad thing, eyeball didn’t touch any “Russian-only” jokes in text.

 Like “So let us drink to cybernetics!” (Catchphrase from old soviet comedy, here with eng sub  9:40-9:54) or “The parade will be me!”(Other wrong translated catchphrase by Russian novels and movies character, see here  ). If I translated my stories, I should trying replace such specific jokes with understandable to Western readers.

I think, now you understand why his very slipshod translation with hundreds small and big mistakes irritate me.

Ps. And if we talk about stealing. Yes, sometimes we use fan-arts from Net as illustration to not related fics, but if you will visit our gallery of stories (http://www.allsimpsons.ru/topic/15552) and click to «обсуждение» (discussion), you will see in description from first post in thread (for illustrated works) line “автор иллюстрации” or “автор арта” (author of illustration/fan-art).
pps. And like apologies for that big and boring post, I bring few fan-illustrations . I suppose that ones will be new for this audience.

I agree whole heartedly.  Like I said, I'm glad that although this eyeball individual may have committed this injustice, you were all able to find him and your story and bring to light the truth in this matter.

For me though, I am glad this occurred.  Once a long ago, I came to these futurama places very excited, and I was a vibrant individual very interested in these futurama communities.  Most of our futurama sites have died in the english speaking camps, and except for a very select few, the rest that do still survive only do so as monuments of memories from that another time.  I don't venture out and visit the sites written in other languages very often anymore, although I suspect some of them are quite thriving.  Therefore, it was an inopportune moment, yet completely fortuitous for me to have met you all and seen what you have to say from so far away.

Those pictures are very nice by the way.

And thank you for your expansive post on your viewpoint, Wild_Cat, and especially thank you on the insights to some of the jokes contained in your actual fanfiction.  I will probably peruse them further in the near future.

Failing completely to take into account BGM, or Basic Good Manners. You don't just go using someone's art without their consent. Especially not someone as dangerously unbalanced as myself. If you'd asked, I'd have said yes. But you didn't, so yeah - you go ahead and remove it immediately.
