Realism? Don't go there! Eyes I can do, but that's about it.

What I don't like drawing is people. I just find them really hard to draw for some reason. I can draw animals and stuff but people. Just fail me already lol. Could someone give me some tips on how to draw people please?
Search on Deviant Art for some tutorials, I've had some big help from some.

EDIT: Oh My! I'm a professor!

Congrats on making it to professor :) And thanks for the tip i'll search it up now because I can't get any sleep lol

I'd wait until you've got at least a chapter. Us PEELers like chapter format, or they did in the ancient days when I posted some crappy fic up.

Resurrecting this thread to showcase something I posted in the movie discussion thread.

There are a ton of amazingly talented artists onPeel. This is an amazing piece from one of my favorite artists, Miss Futurama, who drew it around the time the Barbie movie came out.

I checked out her DA account and she's quite talented! Her art is so beautifully detailed. I saw she lives in the Ukraine and even though I don't know her, I'm still grateful to know she and her family are safe.

Yes, she's incredibly talented and posted a lot of her art here over the years, much of it in her thread https://www.peelified.com/Futurama-Forum-6/Topic-22912-0-My_Gallery.html

Most unfortunately, nearly all of the artwork links are stale :( As you mentioned, there's a lot more of her art hosted on DA: http://missfuturama.deviantart.com/. Lots of great art there. And not a criticism if you don't stay on top of world politics, but it's just "Ukraine", with no leading "the". Related, their capital city is Kyiv, pronounced "Keeev" (anglicized Russian spelling "Kiev"). Viktoria lives in Lviv and there have been many, many Russian missile and drone strikes against both cities. :(

Like a few other Peelers I'm a bit of a hoarder of things both tangible and digital, with tons of Peeler art for my photo frame and TV slideshows. The other week I discovered that I had saved a drawing that the artist no longer had a copy of, and sent it to her in a PM. Glad that my hoarding paid off for once, unlike the automotive timing light I saved from 1978, threw out ten years ago, and needed a few weeks later :hmpf:  Perhaps some day before I die I'll find a use for those personalized bookplates my grandmother gave me for my fifth birthday :D

The only time I ever made any effort to draw was in junior high school, bored to tears in class. Pretty much every artist I've talked with mentions that learning to draw, then refining that skill takes a lot of hard work and endless hours of practice. But whats does I looks like? :)

We're very lucky to have had so many amazing artists post here over the years.

I've recently found an artist on Tumblr named emdeejaydraws and their work is quality. I've been wondering for weeks now if they'd ever been a user on PEEL and posted work years ago. I would ask them through DMs if they're familiar with our forum, but I feel that's a double-edged sword. I'd rather not be Patient Zero infecting PEEL with Tumblrina cooties. Better to stay hidden in my dumpster and ask you all instead if their art seems familiar.

As for MissFuturama, it's good to hear she's been safe and doing well all things considered. At the same time, it's upsetting to hear she's in a pretty intense part of her country right now. In regards to the art posted from her, I simply love the colors she's selected, and the somewhat softness to the entire work. Mattel/Futurama crossover when?

Also...I should probably kick my own butt and make some art for you guys again. It's been on my mind to do as much since the Hulu run kicked into gear. And technically I DID start working on a piece I was going to upload. It's a two-page spread in a little watercolor sketchbook I purchased some months ago. It's the opening shot of the city and the huge TV screen. But instead of it reading 'created by Matt Groening and David X Cohen' I was a cheeky little artist and slipped my first name in instead. It's 3/4 of the way drawn and inked, but I stopped working because every time I'd try to start drawing the buildings again, my eyes and brain would melt. But it does deserve to be completed; it'll look pretty swank once colored.

Y'know, I really should've thought of doing that! It's quite genius.  :laff: Thank you.

Favorite fan artists on PEEL?  There's so much great fan art on PEEL that it's difficult to pick favorites.

Zed 85 once drew a picture of the cast of Futurama dressed as the cast of Record of Lodoss War for me.  Sadly, the image no longer appears in the thread where it was posted, so unless he still has it somewhere, the artwork now exists only in memory.

EvilLunch drew me a picture of Bender and Amelia from Slayers.  That image no longer appears in the thread where it was posted either, but fortunately, I own the original, which EvilLunch sent me in the mail, along with several of her other drawings.

Other great fan artists on PEEL include Asylum-Fry, IntroducingEmy, and shinyredapple.  I could list others, but just take a look through this forum; you really can't go wrong.

As for fan fiction, Kryten, Venus, and PCC Fred wrote the only fan fiction I've read on PEEL that didn't make me want to physically harm the authors.  High praise indeed, I know.

That takes me back, David!

I think I may have lost a lot of my fan-art several hard-drives ago, unfortunately, but I'll see what I can find. :)

If I can't, I might even recreate it, if you remind me who was who? I think I remember most of them; I can sort of picture it in my mind.

It's been years since I've done any proper fan-art, I really must get back into it!

Meantime, that's a great find, Zoidy. They're highly talented and I love the playfulness of their work. :)

I'll also add my sincere gladness that Miss Futurama is relatively safe and strong; it's so heart-breaking to see what the people of Ukraine are facing. I only hope the war ends soon, in a lasting peace.

My memory's not what it used to be, but I think it was based on this artwork.  Leela was Deedlit.  Fry was Parn.  Amy was Etoh.  I'm not certain about the other three, but I think maybe Zoidberg was Ghim, Farnsworth was Slayn, and Hermes was Woodchuck.
