Something daft - F1 fans check this out!

Remember that collage I made of different PE ships in different Airforce colours - well, to complement my fanfic that I plan to write over the summer about a futuristic Formula One, I gone and done a collage of a made up field of cars and teams - you'll see what I mean.
You'll recognise a few team names - and there are a few references to other influences - in names and in liveries.
Tell me what you think.

You really think there'll still be tobacco advertising in the year 3000?

Nice work, but personally I think it'll be closer to the stuff in Wipeout.

Nice pics. i can never be stopped being amazed by all the people who can draw well 
But, i do agree with Ben on the fact that it does resemble Wipeout a bit too much. some kind of futuramization of the craft would probably be in order. (also, i cannot remember anyone in the future wearing helmets when they drive but thats probably coz you'd die if you crashed no matter what... not totally sure on it though)

I don't think they'll be tobacco advertising by 2010 but I couldn't think of anything original to put up.  But then, they advertise other crazy stuff in Futurama so Tobacco seems a soft issue. - they might have even cured all problems associated with Tobacco so there wouldn't be such a problem.
Anyway, whether they have or not all cars that have tobacco advertising carry health warnings at least. 

They would look completley different by 3000 but I wanted them to deliberately resemble modern F1 cars - I guess.

Why they were helmets? Well, they would drive at huge speeds and crash massivly but I would make it that the main cockpit would be virtually indestructable - similar to the idea about the cockpits today. Plus it could be like, why do Fighter Pilots wear helmets - crash into a hill or get hit by a missile then they're as good as dead anyway, but they still wear helmets.
Know what I mean?

The Sauberson car reminds me of Andrea de Cesaris' 1994 Sauber (black Tissot livery, no wheels)

Though i think they must then be more of asthetic value than actual protection

another thought. They could have a HUD with critical information built into the helmets as well. sorta like a cyber combat helmet

Glad you like them! 

The Sauberson is a nearly direct rip of the mid-late 94 Sauber -lack of wheels and all  - Credit Swiss is a referance to current Sauber sponsor Credit Suisse (spelling) but of course not in French because that no longer exists. 

@Static: I like the idea of HUD helmets. 
They could show data on things like what car's infront and by how much and warnings and such.

When I have more free time I'll go and lay down my designs for the cockpit and HUD - I've got some rough ideas but I could make them more solid though.

Also, the Ostech looks like it's based on Simtek (blue, VHX=MTV, Australian driver, the name Roland (Ratzenberger?) on the front.

If anything, I'd want them to parody the podraces. It would be good, with the fact of having many different alien races. Oh yeah, I'd like to see the HUD on the cockpits.

And I would also like to see some alien-sponsored cars, like the Omicronians. Do those wacky ads, like ArachnoSpores and Soylent Green!

@Otis: - yeah, I worked on it over a number of days. 

@PCCFred: - yep - Ostech is a parody of Simtek. My reasoning for the use of Roland is because of the brandname "Roland" but the link to Ratzenberger is not coincidental - also the red and white and red stripes on the tail are references to the Austrian flag, so...

Anyway, I hade fun with VHX. In Britain atleast VH1's motto is "Music TV That's Not For Kids" - so I thought why not have VHX - "Music TV That's Not For Humans"
Whaddya think? 

@Just Chris: - Well there are some alien language on some of the cars - the 3-4 cars are pasted in it - even the name of the team is in Alienese. I admit that I probably didn't draw them very well and they didn't come out very well.
What to know what that team is? - it's actually the future equivilant of BAR - only now it's called British American Raltar VI Racing.
