Edit: Is that a swastika on her left arm? On her bracer? Looks more like a reflected highlight to me.
Nice work, Herr Hein.
Yep, that's a reflection:) But the word "Swastika" gave me the idea for a rather sick joke (I do not know wether I will pull that one through, for even I considered that one a tad politically incorrect) Anyway...sorry for the lack of updates. But at the end of the year, my job gets rather stressing, so, not too much time for drawing. Anyway...a short WIP image from "30", in which I will have a scene playing in NNY's red light district. (Another A2 page) (Does anyone get the really SUBTLE pun with Hermaphrobot and Hedonismot ? ) Wanted to do some cameos, but some characters show a disturbing lack of cooperation:

Really making slow progress, sorry. Anyway, a bit of today's (let's generously call it) "work" in progress for "30" : Raoul and Vyolet being interviewed by Linda, when something unexpected happens;) (Not telling, of course... ) PS: Does anyone recognise in which place of NNY they are standing? (Went for official backgrounds, but had to add a few building of my own, as this perspective was imhO not covered in the show)

Another WIP pic of "30", a scene playing in a brothel/strip club (btw...nothing dirty will happen there ) ) Anyway..I somehow got a little carried away regarding cameos:

@All>Thanks for the feedback Very cute, Prof. Hein. These single cartoons are very consumeable--like having a hearty snack, versus a full-on feast.
Thanks I must admit: The single image cartoons are (if deviantart is any judge) more popular than a long running comic. Yet, I must admit that "30" is the project I like most. All the Nibblonians made me think of Gremlins, specifically, hmm, what if they ate after midnight, and then...I don't know. Also, the guy's line reminded me of Frost's line from Aliens: "I got a bad feeling about this drop."
I'm sure you don't intend these, but like any self-respecting English Lit. major, I grasp for straws of profound and insightful observation.
Oh...there is quite some intention in my cartoons, most things are planned. E.g. "I have a bad feeling about" is an iconic catchphrase from Star Wars That phrase appearing in "Aliens" is most certainly a reference to Star Wars. In case you are interested, for the "Scruffy vs Amazonians" cartoon ( http://www.peelified.com/index.php?topic=21502.msg1247490#msg1247490 ) I wrote down some thoughts about it's design/creation/layout : http://www.peelified.com/index.php?topic=21502.msg1248024#msg1248024

But how dare you make Leela do that... She shouldn't be cooking a pony or unicorn in the oven.
It's very simple how I make her do that I use a piece of paper, a pencil, and draw her cooking a MLP in the oven
Oh, that is an interesting interpretation of the events of FotB. I see what you meant when you said in the chat that the twist wouldn't be PC. I do like that Fry got mad at her...about time she got some of her own medicine.
Hehe, yep:) Leela often gets away with far less consequences for misbehaviour than other characters. Yet, the "facing the consequences of your errors" are often the most funny/interesting part of a comedy. And that most funny part should not be handled "with the handbrake pulled" (so to speak) with certain characters. And you know, it can be seen as sexy, how she's subservient to Fry. Hey, if that's what floats some couple's boats, who am I to judge?
Hehe, whatever you want to see in it But I must say I never had an erotic component in mind. It was basically the situation of a partner doing something rather wrong/bad, and coming to the realisation (s)he should keep it rather low the next time. Means: No complaining, no nagging, no discussions who has to take the trash out. In that cartoon, I just took that theme to an extreme. I must admit I considered drawing Leela wearing only an apron, for several reasons: a) To annoy the PC crybabies (you would not have expected less from me, right ) b) To show Leela trying to bring an erotic element into play, as distraction, and hoping that Fry might in a certain way forget his anger. Yet, as he was not even looking at her, it would have shown he was REALLY angry this time, and she probably would have to stay in the doghouse for quite a while longer. There were two reasons I did not do it: - The outfit would not really have worked in that perspective. - b) was rather a far fetched interpretation, and probably not everyone would have gotten it that way. I will have some complicated interpretations in "30", which I will write down in the comments. Yet: A single page cartoon like that one should work with the visual images alone, without the need for written explanations.

Howdy:) Sorry, I was not really lazy, but my PC was for repairs and I could not scan images. (Okay....I was also a bit lazy ) Anyway: A little WIP preview for "30" once again. This time, my version of Robot Hell (slight Giger Touch). Another A2 page, the empty squares are of course spaceholder for panels that will be inserted later. (Image is a tad too big for Peel, to view full-size click on it and view it in imageshack)

Two weekends without any update on "30" or a regular cartoon (of which I think I should finally draw some again...). Well..as little proof that I was not completely lazy, some WIP page from "30": (Am working on the following 5 "30" pages at the same time..so, when there is an update, there will be a bigger one. Also, the reason that Emperor Grog says "Pri es" is that I didn't know by heart which of the words Price/Prize means the award and which the payment. And when I laid that image out, I didn't want to boot my computer, and therefore kept a blank for later).

Lauren, El: Thanks:) So, in case you haven't read what happened to poor Lauren http://www.peelified.com/index.php?topic=23385.msg1382118#msg1382118Anyway, I granted her a cartoon wish (hoping to cheer her up at least a bit). Well, she wanted something with Fry and/or Leela having an arm in a sling, and a fat eye. Well...obviously, I wondered what could cause such an appearance on the characters. "Fry and Leela's Big Fling" came to my mind, with "Batman's Night off" and the mugging of Bender. I wondered: Does Batman REALLY have a night off, or will he just pop in the most unsuitable moment;) Lauren, this cartoon is for you, hope it manages at least some minor cheering up. Hope you feel better asap, your injury turns out as minor as possible, and you also heal as fast as possible. "Fry and Leela's Big Fling: Deleted Scene"
