I've been learning to program for a while, and wanted to make a small project to practice. This is a small Futurama game I've made. Basically, you walk around planet express, and can play mini games by poking certain characters.
(I spawned the NPCs in this place)
Other than loading screens and menu gfx (basically anything that looks good) I made it all in MS paint
. Some of the sprites are terrible as I rushed to get them done. Credit to Futurama owners/creators for most of the content (music and what not).
Quality under 'options' is for computers that wont enable hardware acceleration in Java. My laptop did this and couldn't keep up with the required FPS, so I added this option, doesn't look as nice.
There are a huge number of bugs and issues I haven't bothered to fix, but the two worth mentioning are the ridiculous loading times, and the music not working. If the first menu doesn't play music (it should be a quiet ambient sort of sound) then restart it; this was mp3 library that doesn't work well.
Anyway thought some Futurama fans might enjoy it
. There is a console you can open with '`' (button above tab) and a list of commands in the instructions.txt included. You can add maps and sprites, but there isn't much you can do with em, it's just something I used to make it easier for me to add maps (it might crash if you spell something wrong in console - hopefully not)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=24PWDRAVTo run just extract and run the bat. Controls are in the txt. Its a Java game, and requires a Windows OS
(Also the screen tearing whilst moving is due to a bug in Java2D, nothing I could do, but I wont use that in future >.>)
