To the artists of PEEL: How long have you been drawing, and have you taken classes?

I started when I was about 4.. and kept it up to now, I'm basicly self taught. I only took 2 art classes in high school, and thats it(aside from art class in the lower grades, but that was required ...)

Just curious...

I've drawn most of my life, I was always considered a very good and talented drawer by my teachers and classmates for most of lower school but now quite a few have caught up and are better than me.  :hmpf:
Well, I've gone through manditory art lessons and Graphics lessons, I then took Graphics as a course for my GCSE and will do Art at AS level. Apart from that I went with my Mum to some ciramics classes when I was little. Otherwise I've taught myself most of the stuff I know - definitly CAD wise.  :)

i'm completly self taught, i learnt how to use photoshop, illustrator, paint shop pro all on my own. Like Zed 85 i've always been thought of as a good artist by teachers and classmates. I was told that i was working at A* level in year 9. when i've done my GCSE's i'm off to college studying Advanced Art & Design

I've always liked drawing throughout my life, in primary school I used to do loads and in Secondary school I sharpened my skills. I passed my GCSE in Art and am now at College doing Advanced Art and Design. Recently I've improved a lot, at college I do a mixture of different things from life drawing, graphics, sequential drawing, animation and typography among other stuff. I loathe painting though; I'm pretty self-tought and used what I learnt in class to improve my formula.

Started somewhere in September 2000, after discovering this section of this board.

Have used Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop and PSP, during the last year and a bit.  Found a Flash tutorial for when I started, but developed other skills since then.

Who says you can't teach an OLD dog new tricks! :P

Like the others posting before me, I started at a young age. I would constantly get in trouble to drawing instead of listening to the teacher. It was so bad that my mother banned me from drawing. I took some art classes in high school by accident. It didn't help although it introduced me to new drawing techniques. I only work well with a soft, dark pencils. I don't work well with computer programs and painting.

Yay! First post with my new custom Avy!, what'cha think?

well anyways:
As stated I am self taught and started young.
At first I just drew ... well stuff. I can't remember I was young, but I really started developing my style around middle school. i basicly copied the styles of the comics I read, Marvel, Image, ect... So I have a very Comic book style of art. I hate painting  :p, but I like CG. I love how I can sketch something, scan it in color it then add a couple filters to make it look like a painting!! Lol  :laff:

Yes this post was just so I can show off my new Avy. lol

Hey, Erdrik, didja color the whole pic?  I'd love to see it if you did.  I loooove your art.
Oh, and I'm not much of a post-your-art person, but I had one pic at the late TFO...  :D
Dunno what to say about Erdrik's avy.

It's kinda weird dude.

I've always just drawn stuff. I don't have a 'personal style' or anything, I just draw. I've really imroved on the aspects of shading and scale in the last two years though. I used to be terrible for dawing things with heaps of short, light pencil strokes. Now I've trained myself to use long arcs of line instead.

I love drawing always have done even if my skill has hardly improved since I was 4  :laff: I really got into drawing because I'm a huge fan of animation. I did take Graphical Products and Art at GCSE and passed both which was nice even though it really didn't teach me any real styles. I would show you my work but I do not have access to a scanner but when I do I'll show you some of it.

I drew since I was 5, I have at least 100 comic books I drew, each at least 20 pages. But I only started drawing on the computer last year.

I drew since I was four, and for some time drew people very cartoony looking, nothing like standard comic books. But I took drawing as a hobby and never really wanted to improve my skills, until I got to high school. I didn't take art classes there, but I took three years of CAD and it inspired me to draw and design my own cars and other vehicles, and also to do tons of CG work. I also got into anime around that time, so I'm learning more about drawing faces. Right now I'm taking a first year art program, but when I complete those classes, I can get into Graphic Design.

My favorite types of media would be pencilled drawing and CG drawing. I only use oil paints if I'm working on a model  :D

To tell the truth, when I first saw that, I was unassure of what I was looking at. I thought it was Amy giving Fry a blowjob. It took me a few seconds to realize what it was.

I've been drawing pretty much all my life as well, so it's hard to tell, quite frankly.

Oh, btw, I immediately saw what your avatar was supposed to be, Erdrik.  :) This could of course be because I tend to spend more time looking at Leela's ass than other people, though!   :p

I have no artistic ability whatsoever.  I can't draw, I have trouble writing neatly on unlined paper, and it was even a struggle to master colouring inside the lines.

Ive baically taught myself for the stuff I actually like doing. Art is all well and good but I dont like what we're studying so its not much help.

I still cant see it as Leela's ass. Its just a black blob on my screen. Oh hang on I might see it. Lela's body looks really thin if Im seeing it right.

If I happen to qualify, I can't draw and I started using Flash to make them purdy pictures about Christmas time. Before that I used Paint.

And I can see it Erdrik... and I think you're sick*!

By sick I mean a gifted artist.
