Way cool, mon. Don't sell yourself short, I like all the extra files sitting around, and the colour works well.

What did the lady in question think?

wow, Marcus, that's fantastic.  I've seen scenes on the actual show that weren't drawn that well.

Why is it whenever there is snow, ice or sand involved they never decide to land the ship in hover?   ;)

That looks sweet -  I especially like the lighting on the ice sheet.

@ El and FHM: many cheers guys, double-kind of you :) Present went down well, with an ego-affirming amount of fuss made over it  :laff: Files a late addition to fill space, but I liked the look of them; them spilling over the 'border' of the pic is a technique I stole from some excellent Coldy pics.

High praise indeed, whoa! Thank you very much :D I was happy with Drowning Dude, though I'm not as thrilled with Put-Upon Woman.

Suddenly, smashing through billboards doesn't seem so traumatic for Leela, huh...  :p Nice ship model, and impressively detailed ice.

Whut?  Which one?
And that is so typical of you, I suppose, isn't it...

Concur with what was said about the lighting and the details, and that it does seem a rather daunting scene.  That massive sheet/block of Space Ice looks fairly intimidating..

its from a scene in The Leelazarus Effect where the brainspawn shoot down the ship.

Ah, okay, yeah, for some reason I was blanking on which fic of yours involved any icy landscape scene like that.  So you are rewriting it, why did I have a feeling you kind of might..  Also that background there looks similar to the one in that supernova explosion clip you linked a while ago.

Mm - Hope that lecture went all right, by the way..

yeah, the background is basically the same.  There's a paintbrush in Maya that lets you spray stars over a surface, and another one that makes pink nebulae.

it was that obvious, eh?  I'm not rewriting it entirely.  I just added a couple of chapters in the middle, and I'm going to change the ending because it was too abrupt and too obvious.

the lecture isn't for a couple of weeks yet.  The real reason I made those animations was as an excuse to not be working on my term paper for the same class.  Actually, that's also the reason I'm posting right now.  Yay procrastination!

Oh, so THAT would explain why you couldn't change the pinkness level of the nebula in the supernovanimation.

You.. added a couple of chapters.. okay.  Well, I do recall you being somewhat dissatisfied with the ending in the first place, way back when you first finished it, though you didn't end up tweaking it then; but overall I felt it wrapped everything up fairly well.

You know what, I'll stick a brief digression on LE in your thread then, it would globviously be more apropos there.

Fuck! I was trying out the new CS4 and I really liked the style of this particular brush tool but I accidentally clicked on something else and I can't seem to find the same brush tool. Can anyone help me identify which brush tool I used?

I feel like a n00b

EDIT: I found the brush tool again! YAY~!  :p

Soylent my boy, brilliant rendering you've got there. Love the glowing light effects you've done.

Made a poster. I should make a Futurama one and get off my non-Futurama-drawing rear.

I WILL PAY GOOD MONEY...

...to whoever can give me a good framegrab of a 1/4 shot of Morgan Proctor's face (i.e. where the 'camera' is behind her and slightly to one side). I've got through about a dozen draft pics that were ruined by her weird, weird head (samples follow), and  I know when to concede defeat :p

Please note I was lying about the money.

If you are interested in a larger version of one let me know.
Looks like a longer neck & collar, smaller nose, and taller forehead would get it real close.

excellent, cheers man! And no, those are good quality grabs, thank you for taking the time. I think the whole thing is out of proportion - MP's head is more of an oblong than the circle I've made it. Some things you can cheat when drawing (I'll likely combine elements of Morgan 1 + 3 to keep it easy), but you still need a solid base to start from. The help is much appreciated :)

Oh, that's quite an interesting way to look at them; heads as a circle and a cylinder? I've always thought of the heads from collar to crown, hence the circle/oblong comparison:

But, hurray, I'm learning things! :p
