Haha sorry I'm just a huge spaceship fan and I especially love the PE ship.  Its an awesome blend of the classic rocket shape and the artificial gravity powered 'airplane in space' concept that turned out really well.  And your model looks very nice and accurate too.

I don't normally post pages from the graphic novel I'm working on, but as this new page is a re-draw of a draft I've already posted before I might as well. It almost killed me drawing this, 70+ hours on one A3 image. You can't make out all the detail in this photo, but you can see the improvements I've made from my draft to my final.

On the left it's my 2009 draft done on A4 in biro. On the right it's my 2010 best which I've just finished, done in pens, ink, and fine ink nibs...

Those are very cool! I like how it's so detailed. I don't have patience (or talent :nono:) to do something like that. Very nice :)

Thanx peeps! My main drive apart from my ambition to get a graphic novel out there is the fact that my art satisfies my own taste, it isn't the greatest but if I wasn't into it I couldn't do it. If I didn't think I was offering something new I wouldn't do it, so it's my own unique (I hope) style...

more work on the Planet Express Ship:

the landing gear and cargo hatch can be extended and retracted, the torpedo tubes open and close, and the turret rotates

Astrostellar. :D

I like the way the colors blend in to each other.
Oh, and as I told you, those two renderings way above are grandish, also.

I always like your starry backgrounds.

here's a short, animated supernova explosion I made for an upcoming lecture I have to give:

The gas on the left is too pink to be hydrogen emission, and I dunno how to change it! ARGH!

I have to give a talk on the research I'm doing.  nothing particularly exciting.  I've done some animating before, actually, but the files are huge so I haven't posted them.

Ah, okay. I do remember that one little video you did a long long time ago - wasn't it for some sort of contest or something? - but haven't seen anything else since then.

Also check out the galactic stuff in the science thread, if you haven't already, supposedly they have found yet more evidence for dark matter and dark energy and such.. a 'matter' of mapping it...

That's cool.
Although I would maintain a more solid boundary for the hair, since the rest of the picture has linear boundaries to the different colour areas (black lines), the hair standing alone as being a free-flowing form without boundary kind of looks out of place. You either do the whole thing like that, or none of it at all.

I prefer the sketch to the coloured version. You may wanna look at some reference when it comes to colouring. It'll help you to place the highlights and the shadows.

I dun a pic. A friend at work is leaving, and I thought I'd give her a pic to commemorate the event; her, Simpsonified, in a 'typical' workplace pose. For context, the guy in the thought bubble is our head-guy, who famously described my friend's departure for her new job as 'just natural wastage' (...or perhaps he meant 'employee attrition'). Hence, obviously, I'm taking the opportunity to show my boss drowning in liquid sh... it's not a subtle joke, is it? ;)

I really hope I don't get fired.

Anyway; much of the actual drawing is not my best (rusty), but the 'production values' are far better than I typically manage. This is because the best bits of this pic - the pacing and framing, reangling of the thought-bubble-man to fit the available space, fixes to fg/bg line thicknesses and colour schemes - are thanks to El-Man, who very patiently shared his expertise and walked me through them. Big props and many thanks to him for what worked, more practice for me for what didn't :)

Opinions as welcome as ever!
