(Sneak peek of my art there; due to the large number of images, all the other pictures shall be behind a link instead of being embedded on the page)

So. Hiya people! :) This is my first post here. I'm a random lurker who loves to draw, and recently I got inspired to draw Futurama fan art. I don't think I'll be posting much on the forum in the future, but I thought you guys might get a kick out of my Futurama stuff.

I drew my first Futurama fan art pics a few months ago this spring. These early pieces were good practice to learn how to draw the characters, and you always learn best through trial and error. Translation: I was unexperienced and the following pictures suck so badly that I hate looking at them. Characters are off-model and their anatomy is funky.
I'm posting these pictures for the sake of completion, so that all my Futurama fan art is in one place, and because I still like the concept behind some of the pictures.

These pictures were practice to draw different characters:
Bender is pissed.
Leela and Fry.
Bender and Fry watching TV.
Bender & Fry being immature about something.
Fry draws a comic.
Fry playing his holophonor.
Kif and Amy.
Group pic in a random, different style.
Another group pic.

I love cute animals, so I drew a few Seymour and Leelu pieces:
Walking on sunshine.
Fry hugs Seymour.
Boring Seymour pic.
Leelu.
Leelu and Fry.

"Space Pilot 3000" inspired me to draw a bunch of pieces. Season One DVD includes the early draft and animatic of the episode, and they have a lot of deleted scenes/lines. Many of them were funny, but I guess they had to be cut due to the time constraints of an episode. Anyway, I wanted to draw some of those scenes into happening.
Leela chasing Fry with her career chip gun.
Leela and Fry at head museum.
Deleted scene 1: Instead of Terry, Leela's the first person that Fry meets in the future.
Deleted scene 2: Fry and Leela talk about Leela's eye.
Deleted scene 3: Fry walks past some vending machines.
Deleted scene 4: Fry finds broken sunglasses in the career chip envelope.

More deleted scenes, but this time based on the early script that's included on the "Bender's big score" DVD :
Panucci gives Fry a pep-talk.
Lars has a discussion with Fry.

----------------------------------

That concludes the "old crappy stuff" exhibition. These next pictures are more recent, drawn in May and June. They are posted here in no particular order.

P.E. crew form a human pyramid. Why? Because I like drawing complex pictures full of characters interacting with each other.

More Seymour and Leelu.

Some mutants in the sewers.

The most action-filled team-up of all times!

What if Futurama was a Disney cartoon?

Bigger version of that Disney pic.

Robosexuality. I'm not a Bender/Fry shipper though, and this was drawn tongue-in-cheek. Robosexual slash creeps me out.

Character doodles.

Whale biologists.
Seriously though, I love the whale biologist character who appears in that one episode. I like his attitude, and his barely controlled irritation towards large marine mammals. And the way the police react when they realize he's a whale biologist. Man, I wanna be a whale biologist too, if it means that police will give me respect like that and I can get away with a bad attitude. - But anyway. The nameless whale biologist guy is a lot of fun and I hope to see more of him in future Futurama episodes.

"Then what?" "Nothing".

Fanservice for the boys in the audience:

Fry & Amy. Based on a screenshot in "Amazon Women in the Mood". Kif has a photo of Fry and Amy but it's too small to make out the details. It's a fun pic and I wanted to redraw it. This was traced from screenshot to get the poses right.

Leela & Nibbler. It's after the Coppertone dog picture.

And fanservice for the girls.

Fry family portrait.

Escaping from robot hell. If you compare this to screenshots you'll notice it doesn't happen like that, but I'm taking artistic liberties here.

Snowy day. Seeing how it's the middle of the summer now, this picture's not very appropriate at the moment.

Summer fun. That's more like it. (Apparently everyone else except Scruffy is here. Scruffy's missing because I had no ideas what to draw him doing and not enough room to draw him in.)

And this was inspired by the news of Futurama returning in 2010.

That's all for now. I have some more fan artsy things and plans, but I'll see what to do with them.

Excellent work, brainslugged! I particularly like the Fry/Leela stuff (being the shameless shipper that I am), but all your art is impressive (those deleted scenes were nicely done, and a great idea on your part). I hope your future plans include posting more of your work here; you're clearly a talented dude and/or dude-ette.

Thanks for your comments, everyone :)

QFT.  Do you have a dA Account that I could stalk watch you at?  :p

I used to have one. But for reasons too long to explain, I eventually left dA and deleted my pics from there. Since then I've been looking for a better art gallery site, so that I could post my art somewhere, but haven't found one. So nowadays I mainly post my art fairly privately, for a limited number of online friends.

Thank you for the compliments :) I'm a shameless shipper as well; I enjoy Fry/Leela stuff in episodes, fan art and fanfics.

I do have plans for more Futurama stuff; I've got this big Futurama project I'm currently doing. Originally I was planning that when the project is finished, I'll be posting it to those selected online friends. But then I wondered if people in the Futurama fandom would be more interested in seeing it. So I posted this entry to test the waters and see if I'd feel comfortable posting my art here.

(And whoa, I got comments from a few people who've written awesome fanfics and I can't help but let out a fangirly "squee"! )

Nah, I don't like crossposting, I prefer to keep my stuff in one place. Before posting these pics I spent a while pondering whether to post it on TLZ, or its forums, or Peelified. Eventually I decided to pick Peelified and I'll stick with it :)

Quote
Oh, and BTW, brainslug, do you do any picture requests by any chance?

I don't do requests, but I don't mind people suggesting what kind of stuff they'd want to see from me. Usually when people give me suggestions on picture ideas, I don't draw it. But occasionally other people's comments give me inspiration to draw something; someone's comment plants a nice picture idea into my head, and I feel restless until I've drawn it into a finished piece.

Anyway, I don't promise to draw anything that's suggested or requested. Artists are not art machines, after all; it takes some time and effort to draw. But I'll listen to the wishes of what sort of stuff you'd like to see.

KurtPikachu: slumber party pic could give me an opportunity to draw another pic of lots of characters interacting with one another, which I find challenging and fun to draw, so it's not a bad idea :)

And here's some more art. Two animated ones, also.

That wasn't originally supposed to be one of those head rotate animations, but it kinda turned into one in the middle of doing it. That's why it's not doing a perfect circle around; I had different intentions at the beginning and didn't originally plan to make it loop.

http://i933.photobucket.com/albums/ad179/brainslugged/futurama/blueflashlight.jpg
Fry as a superhero called "Blue Flashlight" from purplefish's fanfic "The sapphire delivery boy". Purplefish used to do some awesome fanfics; exciting and funny, in-character, some Fry/Leela shippyness but it was done really well and didn't go over-the-top like in many other fanfics.
I don't know if purplefish is still around in the fandom, but I've been wanting to draw something based on their fanfics.
The costume here is based on a picture that Kriebs drew once.

Excellent work as always, BS. I particularly like the Bender animation (his frantic flailing escape, it amuses me) and that Lrrr drawing (there's not enough Lrrr fan-art around, I say). (Plus, y'know, I love the parallel Fry/Leela picture...but, from me, that goes without saying.)

Here's a pretty big art update.

I mentioned in some early post of mine that I've got a Futurama project that I'm trying to finish.

In the art circles of the internet, there's this "100 picture challenge" meme that's been around for years. The challenge is a list that includes 100 words, themes or phrases (for example: "Sorrow", "Happiness", "Break Away", "Deep In Thought"). An artist that decides to do the challenge has to draw a picture of each 100 items on the list.

I heard the images of the challenge don't have to be of a unified theme/fandom. But so far I've seen most people selecting a fandom and drawing all their pics with characters of that fandom. So I ended up choosing Futurama.

The common way to do this challenge is announce you're gonna do it, and then post your drawings online one by one as you're advancing with the meme and finishing pics. My original plan was that I'll finish drawing all the pics first, and only after that post all of them in one big batch. But I changed my mind. I'm about halfway done with it, but in case the last half will take longer than the first half (as it seems at the moment), I'll post the first half already.

Some pictures you've already seen, and some pics that I'm doing for the challenge are kinda like rehashed "special edition" versions of older pics. Also, the pictures are done in completely random order. Some pics are newer and some are older, so the art quality varies between different pics.

Extra pic:
some details here.

Most of the pictures are pretty self-explanatory, but I've got a little commentary on some of the pics. I'm using spoiler tags in order to keep this post shorter.

Most of the other pics that I've posted in this thread are just a side-effect of this 100 picture challenge. I intended to draw only the challenge pics, but I got more and more unrelated Futurama image ideas in my head, and wanted to draw them. So all the pics before this post have been just a distraction that's taken my time when I've been supposed to be drawing this challenge.

I dunno if I'll be able to finish the other half of this challenge, usually I lose my interest/patience when I'm doing big art projects, and leave them unfinished. I've sketched most of the pics and know what to draw, but I need some patience to finish the pics.

Btw. There's some image prompts that I have trouble getting image ideas for:

66. Traps
71. Obsession
73. I Can't
82. Can You Hear Me?

I still don't know what to draw for these. I'd appreciate it if you guys have any suggestions on what kinds of pics I could draw for those prompts. Also, I'd prefer picture ideas that don't feature Fry, Leela or Bender; there's more than enough (finished and unfinished) pics of that trio and I'd want to draw some different characters.

Excellent work, BS. While I was looking through all those pictures, I actually did notice that you used a lot of secondary/peripheral characters (Scruffy, the Omicronians, Morris and Munda); I agree that it turned a lot of the more overtly melodramatic prompts into humorous ones. Very creative. And I love your style: it's so distinctive that, to me, it doesn't matter if the characters appear to be on- or off-model (for example, Fry, Lars, and Leela in #74 don't look like Rough Draft's version of the characters, but they're still instantly recognizable and just sort of fun). I hope you complete the 100 picture challenge, because what you have so far is really great.

As for suggestions: for some reason, "Traps" conjures an image of Zoidberg stuck in, like, an owl trap or something. Or that huge ant from TBWaBB who was caged with the promise of sugar syrup...

Why can't I? o: *curious*

By definition 'squee' is a squeal of delight from a fangirl.  When the x/y carrier of the species reacts similarly, it's called a belch or a fart usually followed by an action such as a high-five or sticking the lone index finger heavenward--no not that finger.
