yeah, but what do you mean fantasy?!
Yeah, you're right. I'll paraphrase an old Seinfeld joke: When men read comicbooks about superman, batman, spiderman... these aren't fantasies - they're options.

Books: MS Word. Although much of it was handwritten first. I find it flows better that way. At the moment they've gone back to only offering the e-book version (I think, because the price is lower): http://174.132.188.188/~caco123/product.php?id_product=178I'm trying to get them to put the print version back up, because I want to order more physical copies myself.

I'm sure that is the case. Otherwise they'll have to refund and I'll personally sue them for lost earnings.

Nope.
And I did pay you. With sex. And pointed social commentary.

If the price was around $15, it was a print copy.

I don't know how much you care, but I would write to them and try to straighten that out.

Here's news: Firstly I want to apologise to anybody who pre-ordered a copy of my book. At this stage it's looking like the company has folded in the wake of the Global Financial Crisis. Their website is still up, but that's the word I'm hearing on the grapevine. I've been unable to establish any communication with Catoethes Publishing House regarding the status of Silhouettes or how people will expect to get refunded, and I don't have the funds to start a legal battle. Basically it seems that they hit rough water and jumped overboard, leaving the ship to wallow. Due to their less-than-noble actions, I won't be able to regain the rights to my work for a few years, and even then it'll carry a legally questionable pall which will probably prevent it from ever being published. I'm not so worried about that though, just about the friends who placed orders in good faith. I'll let you know if I find out more. For now, if anybody wishes to question Cacoethes about their orders, they have a contact link at the top of their webpage: http://www.cacoethespublishing.com/I'd be very interested if anybody receives a reply. Alternatively, if you wish, please open up a Paypal dispute. You can get the transaction ID by downloading your history as an Excel file. This I should have expected, because everything I touch turns to shit. Someone please lock this thread now.

Awww. I'll be okay. It's just galling to have pumped the thing up to everybody I know for so long only to have it deflate. Next time I have a possible success at something I just won't tell anybody until it's actually happened.

Is this a proper published novel, or something you've typed up on word, and printed out and stapled.
It was going to be a proper published novel, but now the publishing company appears to have collapsed. I don't know how I could have made that clearer...? If it was something I printed and stapled then there would have been no need for me to go through the process of entering into a contract with a publishing company. Have you read any of the posts in the thread, or just the title?

The epic continues: Cacoethes Publishing House has finally gotten back to me after months of silence, but only after I threatened legal action. The CEO insists that the company isn't closed and that they're 'just having some problems'. I don't believe it though.

Ha. Maybe. In truth though I don't think I'd bother trying again. I've been screwed around for years on this. In the end I really don't think it's worth it. Better to just settle into something mundane. Because how many people actually get to live their dreams, percentage-wise? It's a negligible fraction of a fraction of the population. So I'm going to put aside childish things. No more writing.
