@ Space Case-  Thanks for the "dark" Futurama image.  I have always liked that one since it is different from anime styles and interesting to see the characters more gritty/action comic looking.  The only character portrayal I don't like is Leela's since it is important that she is a cylcops not someone who lost an eye.  Farnsworth is the coolest in that picture with the skull cane.

Coldy's style is his - he takes from anime and other forms - so whatever designation it may fall under, it's damned good.

I try to repay the artists in small ways, like El-Man of TTP, I send him legit copies of Fururama DVD's as presents (preordered his on Amazon yesterday), Archonix got a PAL encoded copy of Star Wreck:  In The Pirkinning.  Of course I commissioned our dear Demeter to do the Leela/Kelly portrait.

I'm well off but not rich, so I send things to the contributors as I can. I've offered to send Coldy Futurama DVDs but he doesn't have a region-free DVD player.

But most of the time, all the artists/writers want is feedback.  Not ass-kissing (but they enjoy that also  ;) ) but legit feedback - what was liked and not liked, etc.

That's how we lost Corvus.  I'm hoping he'll come back, but most people don't give a rat's ass one way or the other.  And the one's who don't care, usually don't contribute in any way.

Care to fill those of us in who showed up late on what happened with Corvus?

That's his story to tell.  He sent his reasons to me and he's stated that he'll tell anybody who cares enough to e-mail him why he feels the way he does.

The kicker is, I was one of the offenders of one of the reasons he felt slighted.

So drop him an e-mail if you want to know.  If you want his e-mail address, it's on his profile.

Thank you for the praise everyone.

Ralph, it's enough to know that I have a friend in the USA who'll vouch for me when I end up in Gitmo.

As for Corvus, I sent him an encouraging femail. I'd been mostly out in the cold from this folder for a long while, divesting myself of obsessive influence, so I dunno what's happening.

Coldy you've done it again! I love how you got the action set up. Nudar and Lars trying to kill eachother, Leela trying to ax Lars, (who I think you got perfectly by the way) and Bender trying to vape Fry.

There are actually quite a few of us Yanks who will vouch for you when you are in Gitmo... no doubt, we will be probably sharing cells and exercise periods with you, but we'll be there!  We LOVE your art!

yes, well done Venus!  Animaniacs used to be my favorite animated show back in the day...

@Coldangel: good to see you doing some Futurama stuff again.  I couldn't help but notice though that Leela seems to be about to bury that hatchet in Lars's face.  ;)

Coldy: Good to see someone has been inspired in a positive way by BBS, your drawing is excellent.

I only just discovered today that we have a general art thread for non futurama stuff.

Heres a photoshop job I done a few years ago based on an image of London from a local free newspaper.

Venus, I have just one question for you:

"Would you eat beans with George Wendt?"

That said - great pic.

When you really feel tackling a challenge, try drawing Slappy Squirrel at a point in her life when she's not thinking about over-the-top cartoon violence.

On the other hand, that would be an impossible task for anybody.

I'm sure that Wacko, Yakko and Dot would be pleased with your pic.

Double post.  Deal with it.

In case people haven't read the results of the PEELies, I wish to congratulate Venus as being the Shippiest PEELer, Coldangel for Best Fanfiction and Archonix as Best FanArtist.

I bow to the greatness of the people I mentioned.

I won an award? Awesome! Can my cheque be made out for cash?

Heh. Thanks Ralph, I know you were a driving force behind that. Congrats to the other winners     :) .

And really, when do we get our cheques?

EDIT: cop a load of this:

It's the colour version of the line-art that I posted earlier.
The colouring was done by a young chick named Kim who I met on devArt, and holy fuck!
Here's a link to her gallery - go pay her a visit:

With her colouring skill, and my line skill, the two of us could rule the world.

Here is a scary first draft attempt at drawing an Inyx from Kay Kenyon's lovely "Bright of the Sky" novel (proof that sci fi is alive and well...).  I was not all too pleased with it and have drawn some more Inyx images to post but this was a first draft.. BTW folks at work laughed at my Futurama images asking why I draw  James Dean in some romantic situation with a one eyed lady from the X-Men. Sigh... go figure.  We are not too up on sci and fantasy where I work. Another reason to LOVE Peelified.

And I am still in awe of the ColdAngel and Archy and Demeter and Venus images out there... I wish I could draw and color half as well as you wonderful folk!

I nominated and voted for both you and Arch in the catagories you both won.  I somehow seem to be able to co-exist between On Topic and Off Topic.  I only nominate people from On Topic for POTM - somebody has to represent you guys.

Arch won POTM two months ago.  I won't rest until you win the same 'award'.

Take care dude.  I've enjoyed everything you've posted and I know others have also.

And the coloring with your drawing is pretty awesome coldangel.  The two styles really go well together.  :)

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or rolling eyes because you know there are difference.

The Off-Topic crowd are often caustic towards the On-Topic people and have been known to insult some of the best members we have here.  Some people have left PEEL because of Off-Topic's attitude towards On-Topic.

As for me, I'll defend each of the On-Topic users and contribitors and you can defend HJS.  Deal?

It is a rather odd program to use, specially when you're used to Photoshop. Or even if you're not. I can see what they wanted to achieve with it but... well lets just say, in terms of interface, either you love it or you want to murder the developers. Rather like Gnome, in fact...

Yeah... I usually want to do something with it, and it seems counterintuitive as to how it's done, if I can even figure it out at all....  That and the completely undocked windows were very irritating at first; I suppose I could benefit from a few tutorials, if I didn't have a mental block against doing stuff.

I don't honestly believe the entire off-topic crowd attacks the on-topic people.  It's certain people who are more prone than others, and I certainly find it disagreeable when I see it without cause.  I'll give you that a lot of people on this board don't look at fanart or read fanfiction, but that shouldn't be something to divide everybody.  A lot of the best off-topic people also happened to be the most prolific writers and artists; I don't see that as a coincidence.  Also, I usually defend anybody who is being unnecessarily ganged up upon; that doesn't make people want to become better or to stay for that matter.
