Chapter 2Bender strolled into the Planet Express building. Fry was busy playing noughts and crosses with himself on a really dusty windowsill.
"I'm back, if you care in the slightest," Bender said, walking toward the windowsill.
Fry hadn't noticed him. "Oh, hi," replied Fry, without looking at Bender. "So how's your cousin?"
"My what?"
"Your cousin."
Bender stared at him blankly. "Oh, Oh! Yeah! My cousin, yeah, he's um... fine," Bender said before backing away. Fry watched him go into the next room. "Hey, Fry, there's a message on the phone," Bender called.
"Is it from Leela? She should have been back 2 hours ago," Fry called back, and then he headed for the next room. When he got in Bender was looking through his address book. Fry glanced at the number displayed on the phone. "That's Leela's mobile number," Fry said, and Bender put away his address book. Fry played the message. But there was just a lot of static. They waited a few minutes before stopping the message. Fry looked puzzled.
"Hey Bender, look, the message was 2 hours and 47 minutes long."
Bender looked at the phone and then narrowed his eyes. "Who would leave 2 hours and 45 minutes of--"
"47 minutes" Fry interrupted.
"47 minutes of static in a message?"
"I don't know, but-" Fry yawned. "Man, I'm tired, noughts and crosses sure makes you sleepy."
"I thought you were cleaning?" Bender asked.
"Oh, yeah, of course I was," Fry replied, averting his eyes from Bender's.
"Well, the place looks clean enough, and I'm sure we'll work out where Leela is tomorrow. Let's go home."
Fry hesitated, but he yawned again and decided he needed sleep. And so, he and Bender walked out of the office.
