Nice tat, liljocephus. That's Homer from the "Whacking Day" episode, right?
Bendersfan1221, my personal experience has been that tattoos don't really hurt that much (despite what you may hear in the media or in movies). Like everyone else here has said, there are less and more painful areas to get them. Generally, the ball of the shoulder or the upper arm is not bad (I have a college Fraternity tattoo on my right shoulder, and it didn't really hurt to get; it feels like someone's pricking you with a needle). Take a couple of tylenol 2 hours before you get it done, and you'll be fine.
Just one thing: make sure your design choice is what you REALLY want before you get it done, and make sure you won't be embarrassed by the design 30 years from now. Sounds silly, but once it's on, that's it, unless you want to spend elevendy-jillion dollars to have it lasered off (if it can be lasered, that is). Last thing you want is to have regrets of "I shoulda, woulda, coulda"...
