I have read through several fanscripts (Not all of them are on this site) and none of them are happy. In one Leela died, in another everyone died and in another Fry nearly died. Has anyone noticed this?

I have noticed that many of the fanfiction writers on this site prefer to write dramatic, depressing, and often epic-length stories.  Personally, I don't like this flavor of fic unless it's quite well-written and effectively uses Futurama's other, non-humorous aspects.  Mostly well-developed characters.

However, fear not.  There is a little bit of humorous fiction out there.  And of course, satire is always hilarious.

Actually, those four links cover pretty much all the good ones that are strictly comedy.  Then again, covering all the good depressing/violent ones would be almost as easy.

As a note, all of the stories linked above debuted on this website.  They were just easier to find on TLZ.

And your fan scripts are where, exactly??

BTW if you read mine you'll find it's comedic as well as the latest bit which is just more dramatic than the rest of it.  I had to have that bit in it or the whole thing wouldn't make sense later on.  Bah.

Futurama has to be funny, or if epic length, a glorious tale of Scruffy's quest to save the universe from the Space Pope!
still waiting for someone to write that one..

Well,I did reveal some secrets of Scruffy's heroic past in my fan-fic.He was a Emperor of Trisol for example.
Also,Coldangel made a pic that showed Scruffy as The Defender of The Universe.

Hey,Coldy's one of the greatest PEELers who ever lived!Don't you dare laugh at his pics!Only the Scruffy one(not one of his best) inspired me to write that bit in my fic where it is revealed that Scruffy actually was the Defender of the Universe(plus the Emperor of Trisol.

There's a lot of funny funscripts on Futurama Madhouse.  Of course, there's some serious ones as well about the characters dying.  Some are even epic as well.  Let's fact it, Futurama may be a comedy, however at least it doesn't always focus on comedy in that fact that it could sometimes be serious.

Good comedy is usually the most difficult to write followed by drama then melodrama (soap opera). It makes sense neophites would start a the bottom.

Hee, hee.

Actually, when I was 11 I wrote a short story called "The Kirby Who Swallowed the World", and everyone who read it loved it. Even people I didn't know! But that was a one-off, I haven't been able to do anything in the two years since then. XD

To agree with futz and frobot, I would say that most fanfic writers go with the drama it's easier to write. I agree with you, power girl, that I don't really like much fanfics either because they're too melodramatic and the characters are usually acting "out of character" Especially Fry, I read a lot where he's too serious, smart or just depressed.

Aside from the links listed, you should also check out some of the fan comics on TLZ. I did one, and Beamer has a lot, and some other people too. There's also a couple on an Amy site out there. But check those out too to kill the drama
