@ Prof. Zoidy: Good take on Leela; ever interesting to see a non-groening approach to futurama characters    :) Shading (hair + neck) works really well, and I love the face - it's quite strong, breadth + eyelashes + nose suggests the mix of masculine and feminine 'traits' in Leela well. Mibbe worth giving her slightly more muscular upper arms to continue this theme? Would be offset by slim waist and big bust/hips. Anyway, just an idea, cool style    :D

@ Corvus: Thanks! And some Hello Kitty, the home game, might well be what Leela had in mind, yes... Money can't buy her love, but it'll get her an affection-fix when she really, really needs it...

Edit! Cheers, Zed!   :D Very kind of you to say, thanks - and a nice way to put it, I like the idea of little mini-stories in pics   :) Gimmie... maybe 2, 3 weeks, and I might be posting something a lot more ambitious in the way of story-telling, though... something... wholly new... something... that'll need its own thread...

Quick!  Run off an draw something awesome while I distract them with this subpar picture!

...I've yet to get the hang of proper shading (*prods the shadows under Phil's legs*).  And if I ever attempt to cel-shade tartan again, someone shoot me.

Give yourself more credit, 1BDI, please. I hate it when people that are better than me say that their art isn't good, then it makes me feel like a five year old drawing a house with crayons.  :p

Here's a crappy little doodle I just did because I'm tired of waiting for my scanner to start working again.

In some ways, you're a lot better than me, though.  At least you have your own style, and it shows in your work.  And the way you drew the lighting detail really gives Bender a nice, appropriate, "metallic" shine in all the right places.  I really like your latest picture.

I'm not trying to downplay my abilities (although maybe I'm failing there), I'm just trying to acknowledge that I still have a lot to improve on.

(Oh, and because people actually seem to like it a bit, here's a link to my pic on my dA account with a brief dialogue that I wrote for it.)

Lol aren't you a teeny bit hard on yourself?

and because I haven't really checked this in awhile:
@Marcus: That's funny XD

@ProfessorZoidy: Thats a cool style to use on Futurama characters.  Something strange about it though, can't quite place it. *shugs* oh well- good job  :)

@SP: What wrong with your awesome art? Sure, the lines are a bit shakey, but if you used a mouse, it doesn't matter how stead your hand is, it'll always do that.

@1BDI: Nicely done, and I agreewith the shadind bit, but I think it would make it right of you straightened the shadows out instead of curving them. Still, a nice piece.

@Unregistered: Thank you. Perhaps it's weird to you because I didn't draw her as a whole, and just from her head to her waist? Or maybe it's the nose. It did look a bit different in pencil, I'll admit it.

What was wrong with it? Um, it's boring, the art itself isn't my best, and I've done way better. =P

Don't worry about it SP. It's a fine piece of art. Perhaps what I notice most is the neck/shoulders of Bender are a bit long and narrow as opposed to wide. But seriously, it's a nice piece.

It's the nose!  or is it the hair?  the eye?  Still not sure.  But I'm sure the nose has a big part of it now.

@Sonicpanther: Zoidberg looks like something out of Pirates 2  :).  What app do you use to draw?  Lastly, I notice how you gave Fry green eyes, and how the characters in the show don't really have eye color.

I use Photoshop CS, and yeah, my first thought when I started drawing Dr. Z was "Davy Jones!"  :p And I like giving them eye colors, whenever I draw Fry he has green eyes.

Years ago, I read an interview Matt Groening gave that his characters did have irises, they were just very thin strip of color practically invisible to the naked eye.

I know he was just screwing with them, but I really like the idea; so, whenever I outline pupils in my fanart, I use the iris color instead of black. :P

I really like your latest picture, SP.  The detail on Zoidy is awesome; the way you shaded him almost looks like you gave him a different skin texture than Fry.

Would this look better in color?

Here's a doodle I did of Fry in my style (Well, one of them. I'm always changing my art style). I used my left hand and a pencil, then outlined it in pen XP. I didn't take my time on this, so I really don't like the way it came out. Especially the shoes. XP

I wish I had photoshop, you guys make some really great pictures.

Thanks for the feedback, tyraniak and Professor Zoidy. Here's another fanart I made, this time it's of Leela in pajamas, looking out the window (and she actually looks happy! *gasp* I usually make her neutral, angry, or embarrased)

I think this is a bit better than my Fry pic, I took more time on this (and I used color). I really like the Bender and Fry plushies next to her. But of course, I feel like the pen outlining ruins it some (and the window is bad. But I didn't put too much care in to making it look good...XP). I assume Leela's eye is sort of out of place, but oh well.

I'm not sure Leela's eye needs to be larger (but without a two-eyed humanoid next to her, it's hard to compare), but I do think it needs to be shifted closer to her nose, because it's hard to tell that she doesn't have a second eye on the other side of her face from this angle.

It's a very cute picture, though (they both are).  I want a Fry plushie.  :(

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Yeah, I have a hard time positioning Leela's eye (I'm not good at drawing cyclops unfortunately), but next time I do a fanart, I'll use your advice and see how it comes out.

I want a Fry plushie too. Hell, I want plushies of the whole PlanEx crew. Well, maybe not Hermes...
