She's the main character in my first Futurama fanfic (coming soon) which is set about 15 yrs after the end of the series.  Aurora is Fry and Leela's daughter, and here is the virtual doll I made of her @ elouai.com:

I'm also attempting to draw her as well.  :)

Cute hair. Alright so could you perhaps explain to me the whole virtual doll concept?

All I can think of is that fan fic "What Ever Happened to Aurora Fry?" Good story. But there's a really big difference between your Aurora and the other one. Should I say it? I really want to but I'll be good.

Oh no, there's another Aurora Fry?  I swear I didn't know.  Where's the fanfic?  I want to read it for myself.  If what happened to Aurora Fry is as sad as I think it is, I'll change my character's name.  Thank for lettin me know.

It probably is as sad as you think it is

But even so you didn't know about so you don't have to change anything about the character. Just read the thing so I can make more of a point without ruining it.

I'm not entirely sure what the point to this thread is, there will be a fic here eventually right?

OMFG.  That fic may have topped Jurassic Bark.
I need to change her name.  There were others I was considering neways.  I chose Aurora bcause it was the prettiest name for a heavenly phenomenon I could find (and Nova was taken).
It was really sweet, in the story, when Fry explained who Aurora was but couldn't remember her name.  Precious.
There are tons of websites where you can make dolls and save them to your paint program, and elouai.com, where I made the doll formerly known as Aurora, is one of the best.  It's originally Korean, and it has more outfits and accessories than you would believe.  There are also boy dolls and a bedroom maker.  I highly recommend you guys check it out!!

You know just pick anyname that you like as long as you don't form, Fry, Leela, Turanga, or Phillip together. I am so sick of seeing that. I have an odd liking of using guy's names for girls (i.e. Randy, Drew). Anyway, my best suggestion, look at the character and try to put names to her. If you think it fits then go with it. And post your story up soon. I really like reading stories about the Future in Futurama.

Or take a few names you wanted to use and try to think of something similar. You mentioned you wanted to use Nova but it was taken, then maybe use something else space related. I'm sure there are enough star names out there. Good luck with the fan fic, but to be completely honest, I rarely read those because they usually way too melodramatic. But I'll give yours a go. I just find it odd that many of the fanfics try to be so serious for a show that was primarily a comedy.

I also like Sidra (Latin for "star child" ) and Danica (Slavic for "morning star" ).  Astraea (Greek goddess of innocence and justice) is another name I was considering, but I'm not sure of the pronunciation.
Actually, my fanfic will focus primarily on the new character and an adventure she has.  It'll also touch on her relationship w/her parents.
When her name was Aurora, I decided that Fry would call her Rory, bcause it takes less effort to say!!

Hey! Rory is an awesome name. That's a great idea. Plus it would differ that she wasn't Aurora but Rory. Go with that instinct! Spacedal has told you so.

Rory was the name of the son on Katie Sagal's last tv show. You really do like male names Spacedal.

You could call her Anna short for Andromeda, or Cassie short for Casiopia. It seems kinda fitting for Fry to want some sort of odd spacename and have Leela finally give in with the understanding that the kid would actually answer to a  shortened more 'name sounding' name.

I does have a certain... cachet to it.
What would you call her?

Dromy?
Romy?
Meda?
Maddy?

Just curious...
I suppose "Andy" would be inappropriate... ?  ;)

Probably Anna.

Aubrey, i'd probably try for something a little less male. Rory is a guy name. And sine Aurora has already been used you might want to try something no one has used yet.

What would be wrong w/calling Andromeda Andie?  Is it too guy-ish?  In high school I knew about four Andreas who were called Andie for short.

Andie is a girl name, but it doesn't sound very feminine.

I guess it would work if she was a tomboyish character, but if you want her to be more girlish you should try to name her accordingly.

Miranda is a moon of Uranus, I believe.  The same planet Umbrielle revolves around!!

I could see her as being Miranda Fry.  It's a very feminine name.

Not really. I mean what about Rory on Gilmore Girls? (I know stupid example but still).

But I kind of think I know what Venus is saying. Male names are my kind of thing, but they don't really have to be yours Aubrey. You need to find your own name. And personally I like unique names. Not like Jennifer and Ashley lets say. Cassie, not my personal favorite.

But I like Anna, I like Ann better though. My suggestion is look at the character. Look at her personality and see if the name goes with it.

I mean when I wrote my shippy-baby fic, the reason why I named their daughter Randy was because I thought of her as a weird, rebelious girl (No you don't see that in the story but that's what I was thinking). And if your character is more normal-girlie like then Miranda would be a better name.

I just saw Venus's last post. She basically said everything that I just said,  :p.

I think I'm gonna go w/Miranda.  It fits her well, don't you think?.  Miranda Justine, so she can be Miranda J. Fry.
And Fry's going to call her Mandy, instead of Randy.  :)

You could also call her "Mira" for short...and make puns on "mirror."  :p

But Mandy's good.  (Anyway, you wouldn't want to use "Randy," because there are British people on this list, and "randy" means something slightly naughty in British slang... )  I even thought "Rory" was good (I kinda like boys names for girls, too... )

But wouldn't her full name be "Turanga Miranda Fry?"

Why would her first name be Turanga? Turanga is Leela's "last" name and usually the woman's surname isn't passed along.

I've heard that British slang thing from Venus. But I wasn't saying that she should use Randy. I was using that as an example. Now on the Turanga thing, if Leela and Fry are married you should decide whether Leela changes her name to Fry so it would just be Miranda Fry or not.

That is one thing that I've wondered.

If Leela marries, I can see her taking the husband's last name, and she'd keep the Turanga part, (Turanga Leela Fry, for example), but would she share the surname Turanga with her offspring?

Kinda strange - shows that I don't have a whole lot to worry about today.

I don't know.  If she named her child w/just Fry's name, she wouldn't have the "mutant" tag.  Is that the sequence of all mutant names, or is it a family thing?

Miranda's hair was one of my first ventures into re-pixelation.  I just painted the strand of hair over w/shades of orange (the original hairdo being all purple).
Basically, Miranda is supposed to resemble Leela except for having Fry's green eyes and the birthmark that made the red streak in her hair.

You know what I find so funny? Why everyone thinks that Fry has green eyes. Where'd that come from? I mean every realistic or anime picture of him his eyes are green. Odd.

aren't green eyes a common irish trait? Most people assume Fry is irish.

Also it's just basic generization. Blondes are always assumed to have blue eyes and redheads are always assumed to have green.

Well I think of Fry as a cartoon with pupils and that's it. I guess I don't think very widly.

And brunnettes and black haired have? I have brown eyes and I'm a natural brunette, so I guess it's brown. Is that the same for black haired people?

Green offsets red really well, so that's probably why.
I described Fry's eyes in the story as "large, lively, glowing with wonder; apple green and strewn with tiny flecks of gold."  ;)

My wife is Irish (born in Dublin in 1969),  She has red hair, green eyes and the Irish temper to boot.  The only Irish stereotype that she doesn't have is that she doesn't drink alcohol (but I do!).

Even her name is completely Irish - Kelly Coleen.
