Yes, yes, I'm mostly new to this pert of the forum, but a week or so ago, I asked myself "why haven't you made a 3D Bender yet, arsehole?". "I... don't know...
", I replied, and whipped myself into giving it a shot.
Now, the model is still very much WIP, but I have a couple of teasers for you if you'd like to see.
First off, the shot I posted in Offtopic- an unlit render of the initial model:
Next is an unlit application shot of the slightly remodelled (and mostly shaded) Bender:
I redid the head a little to give him the overbite. Other additions are obvious...
As you can see, the angry-eyes aren't fixed. I even made it so that they can be animated on-the-fly simply by using the rotate tool.
Final shot for now- rotated a little to show the shape:
...and as I told Futuramafreak a few hours ago on MSN:
"I need the arms, hands and legs... then it's done, modelling-wise... then comes animation and possibly accesorizing him (E.g. Olde Fortran and other stuff for the chest compartment.)
The best thing about my 3D Bender is that every part of him can be manipulated, meaning that I set up the geometry and pivots so that everything moves like on the show, right down to the pupils. You can open the "teeth", push the antenna down and even pop out his eyes (or remove the whole section, just like when Fry used Bender's eyes as binoculars in Roswell That Ends Well). Some of *EDITED OUT DUE TO OFFENSIVENESS OF A SPECIFIC KIND* ... I decided that I would pay attention to detail."
So I will be rigging him for animation, though I don't know if this'll yield any movies or anything, since it's mainly for posing.
That will be all, thank you very much.
