Hi there (:. I decided I'd be daring, bold, courageous and other adjectives and create my own (and very first!) topic! And of course, not just any topic... but a topic with my art in it. Gasp.

Both of these were done by mouse (hehe) in Photoshop. I know, they're terribly crude in comparison to all the magnificent artists on this board, but I try. They're simple, mainly because I have no idea how to shade anything or make all those cool effects people create with their artwork. Oh well. I'd like to know your opinions, though (:.

Leela gazing. Not sure at what.

And a young Fry  :D.

Your Leela picture seems a little off to me, but the Fry is cuteruuu!

You say you did these with you mouse? I can't get anywhere close to a good drawing with oekaki, but you pull it off well. Dig the caligraphy-type pen.

It's my Peelentine! Long time no see! Anyways, that looks great. You may not know much, but I'm sure that one of the great computer artists (I'm not one of them) will probably show you. I love the Fry as well! He has such an innocence about him. Considering you did that with little knowledge and mouse, that's superb! (Superb-what a fun word to say)

Aw, thanks.

@Y_L_B: Yeah, I see what you mean about the Leela picture. I can see where I messed up though and hopefully I'll be able to improve    :).
Oh yeah, I always had trouble drawing with the mouse. I was experimenting with the different brushes and things though and I found that I can actually accomplish something with the caligraphic brushes. Plus, I like the look it gives it    :D.

Edit: @Procyon: Hey you!   :) Thanks darling, hopefully if nobody else shows me I'll learn my way around Photoshop.

Here's another:

And though I know this one's not Futurama-related (it's a self-portrait    :cool: ), I'm happy with how this one came out... I might try to do some Futurama characters in this style:

Neat! I like the new Leela, much better take on the previous one. I also like the soft lavender eyeshadow that makes her more sexy. Only thing bothering me is her eye circle isn't closed   :p

I really like the self portrait. Very neat. I also notice you added highlights to both your and Leela's hair. That gives it some dimension, which also looks good. See, your learning stuff already! (unless you already knew that)

If you can do that with a mouse, I'd love to see some of the stuff you've drawn by hand!

Looking good! Those pictures have style.

Yeah, style - especially young Fry and the self portrait.

It's easier to pick up photoshop just by buggering about with it until you find something that looks cool. Have fun, and don't stop drawing  :).

I don't even pretend to know how to use Photoshop, so I respect anyone who can even attempt to navigate it. Kudos on that, say what now.

Anyway, I really like your artwork. (Did you know that I actually looked up "say what now's art" in my dictionary of slang (it was between "rocks my socks" and "willies" ).) Everything was great, but I really liked the young Fry in your first post. Your self portrait was great, too, probably because I just like your style (and the shading and all that artsy stuff and whatnot).

[mega hint]I suppose this will tide me over until I get to see something called, "say what now's fanfiction...[/mega hint]

Unfortunately I cannot really give you an update of sorts (that being 'cause I haven't created anything new yet   :rolleyes: ), but you guys left the sweetest comments ever and I wanna respond to them now... I'll get something else up soon.

@Procyon: Aw, thank you. Sorry it bothers you, but I wanted to let you know I did that on purpose. Not sure why exactly, I just liked the look of it... something about keeping the style really simplistic and kind of... hmmm... I don't know, carefree? It's cool if it doesn't work for you though. I know the basics of Photoshop so I found I could sort of smudge highlights in. I'm glad you think it livens it up a little  :D. I'll experiment with other tools and things as I go along. As for drawing by hand, well, I have a scanner buried somewhere in my room. I'll try to pull it out and hook it up. Thanks again!
@3/4 of a Jesus: Awww, thank you  :D. Truth be told, the caligraphic brushes make things easier.
@Nasty Pasty: Thanks  :D. I like cute.
@Zmithy: Thank you. I like the idea of it having style... like my own art identity. I'll take your word on the Photoshop thing and continue experimenting. I know I don't comment on your thread (I should... I will...) but I love your artwork, so it means a lot to hear this from you.
@DogDoo8: Thank you! Glad you liked little Fry.
@EvilLunch: Ahh! Thank you! I'm so flattered...  :D.
@Philp_J_Fry: Thank you, I'll try (:.
@Young_and_Angry: Haha, thanks.
@Gorky: Yay, Gorky  :D. Wow, did you look it up? Here's another one to add after "rocks my socks"... "rocks my homemade socks." That one's for knitting dorks :P. Thanks for the compliments on style and stuff. *Gets your mega hint* Ahhh, but that's so much harder. I've still gotta work my ideas out and muster up the courage to actually write... then muster up the courage to actually post... but I'll get on it, I swear!
@AsaB: To hear this coming from a brilliant artist is wooonderful! Glad you liked, and thank you!

Thanks again everyone... I'll have more additions soon.

I didn't mean it like that, I'm just such a perfectionist. Have you seen Asa's thread? I nitpick all the time, it's just my way of adoring your fan art. Plus I don't have to audacity to post anything I've done, hand or anything, (plus it'd be bad anyways) so you're already a step ahead of me  :p Keep up the great work, I've only seen four pictures, but I can tell your already improving!

"Rocks my homemade socks", huh? Well, that's just spiffy, say what now (knitting is another one of the things I don't even pretend to know how to do, by the way). It's peachy keen, cool as a cucumber, and as dorky as...me  ;). Seriously, though, I love using pointless lingo that means pretty much nothing, so that really tickled me. Anyway, regarding the whole "mega hint" thing: I think I've said somewhere before that, while you should have a mental outline in mind before actually writing, your writing has more spontaneity (my spelling sucks) when you just go with the flow, roll with the punches, and write when you feel like it...even if you have no idea how the story's gonna unfold. That's how I write (which is why my stories are such train wrecks), and it's actually really fun. I mean, it's just a suggestion, and I can see how some people (well, actually, everyone saner than me...which is everyone, period) need to know what's happening next in their story. I just think it's sort of fun to write like that. No pressure, though. I'm sure that your story will be great, no matter how you write it or when you write it. I can't wait, though. But your great artwork will tide me over until then.

@Fry's Lady: Thanks, doll (:.
@Cap'n Skusting: Hah, thanks. If only I had materials and room, etc    :p. Think it'd sell well?
@Procyon: Ack, I didn't mean for my reply to sound upset or anything if that's how it came across. No, it's fine, I'm totally cool with it! I'm really grateful that you like my fanart, and I think it's good to receive some nitpicking for future reference and stuff. Nothing against you, I love ya! Thanks again.
@Gorky: Gorky, I'm like you in that way, trust me. When I wrote fanfics a lot, I'd do just that. I figured I needed to tweak my approach a little more this time though because, well, you see, the thing with all those old fanfics... they never get finished. I realize the stupidity of something in it and I refuse to ever read it again, which renders me incapable of actually updating it... I get embarrassed over my stuff really quickly and easily, and if that doesn't stop me from finishing, my not knowing how to continue the story does (I'll put in some clue or something that I think is ingenius at the time and the next time I go to update it I'll basically be like, "WTF was I thinking? Now what do I do?" ) Then again, my mental outlines just basically incorporated the big picture and no detail, which I have worked out a little bit more now (And which I intend to continue working out). Besides that, the only other thing holding me back is that I've got this idea in my head that Futurama is too witty for me to write... only other fanfics I wrote were on Invader Zim, and that sort of humor is so much easier to mimick. With Futurama, half the time I'm sitting in awe at the ingenuity of it. I am working on these fears though, and besides that, I'm a bit more at ease about it because I've got a wonderful beta who will actually spot the pitfalls before they are publicly revealed (thank goodness). *Dramatic stance* I'll write it if it's the last thing I do!

As for the art... it's actually coming along. For you, Procyon, since you mentioned you'd like to see something by hand, I've been drawing not with computerized caligraphic brushes, but with a pencil. I spent a good hour and a half tonight drawing. I'm not finished yet (I've still gotta draw Fry!), but when I finish I'll definitely scan it in and show you guys the sketched version. I do want to color it, but I'll get your opinions on how I should go about doing that once you see the pencil drawing (color pencils or computer coloring is what I have in mind). I want to say it will be done tomorrow, but I've got to get my homework done since my spring break is coming to a close  :cry:. We'll see what happens.

Edit: Bah, stupid error.

*Biggest bump since bump came to bumptown*

Hi guys! Just thought I'd drop in and make it clear that I wasn't pronounced dead or anything. Anyway, I have hand drawn stuff for you... yippee.

A pokey little Fry... I'm not done with it yet, though. I did color it on the computer a while ago, but it looked a little too sloppy for my liking, so I decided to post the original and continue coloring it a little later, as I've honed my skills a bit more since then.

Just a random person I drew Futurama style. I'll try to touch her up, maybe, too.

Yay, say what now, you're not dead! Well, you probably knew that already, but I'm still processing.

Anyway, I dig this hand-drawn style you've got goin' on. I'm sure these pics will look even better when they're colored. *crosses fingers that say what now doesn't disappear again*

And, is it just me, or does that random lady look a lot like Umbriel? It's just me, isn't it? *retreats to Crazy Lady Cabin, mumbling something or other about bran flakes*

Oh yeah, and regarding you're comment from months ago (y'know, about how Futurama is supposedly too witty for you to write), I've just gotta say that, well, you've gotta have more faith in yourself. Yeah, it's always tough to incorporate another show's writing style with your own, but I'm sure you could handle it. And besides, I really wanna see some of your writing! Pwease?...

Yes, it's true. I have no pride.

Thanks so much for the comments, guys! I'm flattered, really!

@Gorky: Ha, thanks Gorky... I'll try not to do any more disappearing acts. I guess it does look a little like Umbriel. Thanks for the writing comment... I was thinking on a short story, but I'd like to develop it a little more before I get to writing it. I promise... someday it WILL happen!
@Professor Zoidy: Ha, it's OK- he IS hot, after all. Glad you think my drawing lives up to that!
@Benders_Fan: Aw, you tried to draw it? Thank you... I know exactly how you feel. Whenever I saw a picture I really liked I'd always try to draw it and fail miserably... you just have to find your own style and develop it, then people can try to draw your own pictures!  :D. As for drawing Bender, I'd probably completely murder him... but I guess I can always try!
@Demeter: Thank you! Thanks for the suggestions, too- I'll fix all that when I get around to coloring it  :D.

I don't have anything colorful for you yet... I tried to colorize/whatever one of those pictures, but again, it came out really sloppy. I use Photoshop Elements and I don't think I have those "bezier curves" I see people talking about all the time, so I'm really kind of a rookie at it. I've just been zooming in and shift-clicking so I don't really have to "draw" in the lines, if that makes any sense (it only would to people who scan, I guess), but it still comes out too rugged for my liking. I'll keep trying... in the meantime, just to have something of useful artistic substance, here's an old, small, computer-drawing of Leela I did. In a weird style though, mind you... have fun with this.

Also, two things I absolutely LOVE to make are Livejournal icons and music videos... so if you're interested, maybe you can look to some of those in the future (Futurama-related, of course  :))?

Edit: I've tried on paint..and nearly murdered him, though people say it looks like Flexo in "Bendless Love" when he got smashed, only it's Bender.
