Does she use the Diamond Lip Plumper? That makes my lips huge. I like it a lot just next time you draw leela, loose the lip plumper.

I did notice the lips were unusually big last week. I'll try to keep that in mind, thanks anyway

How did you do the background?

It's effectively the view I had outside my window at the time - so it served as a fantastic reference. Colours was the most important thing, I just tried to match the colours I saw the best I can. Otherwise the clouds were done (on a separate layer) by doing extremely basic but fairly flat cloud shapes then blasting them with Motion Blur. The moons were special effect brushes and the stars were brushes with applied texture on them - stemmed from that starscape and planet tutorial (I think I remember) we both tried - I actually took the star field I had created with the tutorial and made it into a texture. I did the lights exactly the same way as the stars. I couldn't actually see any stars and certainly no moon(s) but I added them anyway because I wanted it to appear that Leela/Revan was on a distant alien planet...not just looking over south Wales

@Zed 85, I see that you are also a Red Dawrf fan. I just got an Idea, a Futurama - Red Dawrf crossover.

I'd love to - problem is that while I'm fairly sure Fry IS Lister whether you like it or not (except more unlucky and not as quite witted), and Leela probably fits the later Kochanski, I'm a bit stumped over Rimmer, Kryten and Cat - though I suppose Farnsworth could be Holly, and possibly Amy be female Holly (or Hilly if you prefer)

But I mean, let's go over the other characters.
You might not agree with all of these but...

Rimmer

• Has Fry's bad luck
• Has Leela's sense of duty and order, does many anal hobbies like Leela. Has Leela's sense of humour and sometimes attitude (I mean, sometimes Leela's attitute is as bad as Rimmer's)
• Has Hermes' bearocratic sense.
• Has Zapp's arrogance and cowardess

Kryten

• Is mechanical like Bender (ha!)
• Is often vague-minded like Zoidberg (earlier Kryten anyway)
• Performs his duties like Robot 1X

Cat

• Has Bender's style and selfishness
• Has Amy's grooming sense (technically) and selfishness.
• Has Amy's ethnic diversity.

You may be able to think of something I've missed but I think apart from Fry, any character I chose I would really have to bend to fit into the role I've chosen. Futurama and Red Dwarf may be too incompatable.    :hmpf:

I can see why I Futurama - Red Dawrf cross over would be hard, I have been thinking about how it would be done. But you've gone into more detail

Hmm how did I miss that post about Red Dwarf? anyway

What I would say would go for the characters that share some traits but mostly those who would rit the characters stylistically.

Lister- Fry, slobbish, time displaced and in love with....

Kristine Kochanski-Leela. Slightly moree tough becuse it does depend on which of the Kochanskis you are talking about. Let's just say the one that appeared in series 7 onwards.

Cat-hmmm dispite Zapps love of valour i would go with Amy after all in the American version of the show I think the cat was female.

Kryten-A Robot who is obsessed with a robot soap and was also conviced by Lister to do somethign outside his programming..hmm who do we know like that? Bender

Rimmer-alot harder this one. I would say that the only character witha  a simlar neurosis would be Kif.

those are my thoughts anyway

I looked it up - actually in the pilot, Cat was played by a man - then a woman in a trailer for a second version that never came - but I think Amy's as close as we're going to get. Only problem is, and I would love to know the reasoning behind the US producers deciding to cast a woman, just so I can steal their idea - but I think having Cat as a woman would leave too many "yeah, but"s...
Oh sod it. Amy it is then.
I just had a fantastic idea of who Rimmer could be - Wernstrom! Only 90 years younger...
I could use the student Wernstrom!

Thought I'd have another post   

Seemingly not much to this pic, but when/if you see it in its final incarnation, it'll make more sense...

Anyway, this is a commissioned pic that should end up a part of a much bigger piece, with any luck. Best bit for me is that I'm trying a new style of shading for it, still deciding if it works or not - as ever, opinions/comments very welcome

Neat picture Marcus - very well drawn, and the new shading style is more in line with the show.

Breasts should be a little less upwards though, they don't stay that way without implants. I'm not experienced, just 'reliably informed'. Sorry, just had to say it ^_^.

Regardless, if you sent the starry versions of your art to TLZ, you'd probably be ranked in the top 10 within a week  .

Thanks for comments    Starting to like the new shading, trick is have to keep correcting it as you go along...

Erm... Ok, caught! Her breasts were kind of cheated... the shoulders looked totally wrong however I did them, so went back to boobs and kept saying 'just-a-little-more...' until they concealed the dodgy shoulders.

Heres that pic for Wooter's request, I think I should have had his arms crossed, but I was rushing myself so I could on my Phase IV picture with a tad too much oversteer, but that is car art not Futurama Fan Art
