This pic of Farnsworth was originally created so I could make my avatar. Then I spiced it up a tad with the St. Augustine background and a bit of text for International Talk Like A Pyrate Day.

I intend to keep doing new pics in a similar vein and posting them here if that's OK with the powers that be.
Maybe I'll even get to a point where I can take requests.

I also did this one of a tripped out Bender an while back for a
PEEL art contest.

Yessir. Photoshop. The burn and dodge tools come in quite handy.

More or less my Farnsworth.
For the figures themselves, I basically tear appart multiple frame grabs and cobble them back together to get the pose and expression I want. Then I redraw.
All costuming, props, and special effects are done from scratch.
Backgrounds are either redrawn from existing backgrounds or from a photo I took myself.
If I use a photo from somewhere else I'll say so.
But you can more or less expect me to use my own.
Generally everthing is done in Photoshop at a high res.
I may do certain things here or there in Illustrator, then bring into PS as needed. I also have Painter and Steamline at my disposal.
Initially I was thinking Pyrate Leela when i started, but it could always go off in another direction entirely.
We shall see....

Oh, the possibilities of this pyrate penchant of mine. I may as well continue it...
I can't see Fry as much more than a swabby or maybe somebody like Jim Hawkins in Treasure Island, but who knows?
The caption "Stand and Deliver" comes to mind...
I'm getting images in my brain now...
Amy as a cabin boy? Zoidberg as Davey Jones himself? I dunno!
One thing's for sure: You can expect something extra special for Bender!

The pyrate motif seems to be going well.
For my next installation, I'll be dealing with a character not from the main cast, but someone from off the beaten track a bit.
And I'm gonna hold off on Amy as long as I can because I have something really spectacular in mind for her and I don't want to do something that may be too hard to top...
