OK, now that I actually *have* some web space available I've uploaded some of my drawings to it.  These were hand drawn and quickly Photoshop'd. So far all I've gotten completed is Fry and Zoidberg.

I've also gotten Bender rendered again, this time his body is a little more in proportion.  Lemme know what you all think.

I'm glad you like it Homies.  I used 3D Studio MAX for Bender was rendered using Illustrate!, an awesome cartoon renderer.  I'm also in the process of creating the Planet Express building using 3d Studio MAX as well.  It's basically all together, I just need to add in details, like pipes etc.

I´ve never heard of "Illustrate!". Is it a freeware, do you have perhaps then a download link of it? Or just a page about the program?

can you only render it, or can you also use him later for animations or anything else..?

I found a URL that may help.  Illustrate isn't exactly free, but it does have a 30 demo version available. http://www.digimation.com/software/asp/products_demo.asp?product_id=254

Afterwards, I want to add a skeletal structure to Bender and use him in animations or even pose him for pictures.  If you have any other questions, just lemme know.

Neat fan art, especially the Bender one. There's just something about the way you've drawn him which is really cloolsome

Actually Bender wasn't hand drawn at all.  He was built in in 3D and then rendered to look like a cartoon.  If no one can tell that I didn't *actually* draw him, then I've acomplished my goal! YAAY!  :D

Bender looks really cool!! So does Zoidberg! But for some reason Fry looks a bit different to me but it's still good anyway. Also, are you going to do anymore other than the PE building?

Other than trying the Robot Devil and various other robots I haven't really thought that far into the future yet.  I'm still new to this modelling thing and robots are far easier to model in 3d than people (well I think so anyway)  :) Hopefully I can put the new 3ds MAX book I recently bought to some good use.  (Damn thing cost me $50CAD, but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end!)

You should do backgrounds for these pictures.
For example, the robot devil you could do 3D flames in the background. Sure it might be hard but you should give it a go.

It's been a while since I lasted posted in this thread but since buying that 3DS Max Bible, I've been tinkering around with things.  And I've almost gotten the hang of it too!   :D Well, I've taken my old Bender modal and tweeked it some more and done it up in 3d.  Here's some pics:

Still needs a bit of refinement but so far I think it's coming along pretty good.
(Hey hobojobo, got any pointers?)   :D

Nice.  :)

Thats a really accurate model, and I like the natural looking shading, its not too metallic or dark.

Great work! That 3D-model of Bender is breathtaking, I have no idea how you 3D-artists can create stuff like that! I've tried some 3D-modelling, but only cubes and simple landscapes with Bryce...

I also saw your other thread in the PE Stockroom forum, the one with the plushies. I love them, they're so adorable and cute!

Unfortunately the PE building kinda got set on the back burner for a while.  I think I just may render the half that I've modaled.  I'm also working on a non-Futurama character thats a superhero that's part Cat and part Human.  She's basically done, modal wise but needs some more smoothing and refinements on her feet.  (She's got feet similar to Disney's Gargoyles so I had to take a cat's leg and try to mold it around her foot.)</rant>      :D

I may pull out the PE building and work on it a bit, but I'm been doing so much modalling, that I want to try rigging up a skeletal structure for Bender and animate him. (The only animation I have completed of him is just a roundabout, to give the full circular view of him.  Great way to find mistakes in the modalling!      :laff:

EDIT Dec 2nd, 2004:Using the Bender model I actually created a scene, well sorta.  I took a background picture and placed Bender in it.  It's Bender in "The Blair Witch Project":

Not really sure witch one I like better.  Get it 'witch'?  Bad pun I know!    :laff:

EDIT (Again) Dec 2nd:  Watch out it's BENDERINE!

Nice stuff, BiG. Might I suggest using a bit higher of a specular level in your models? They all look sort of flat. Other than that, though, they're awesome.

Well, if you have 3,000 dollars burning a hole in your pocket, or have a friend who likes to pirate CD's, it shouldn't be a problem. However, there's a 30-day trial here.

Really nice Jennifer (mwaha, I know your name!), it's a great start. Like Zmithy, the first one also remind me of a somewhat younger Fry. The second is also very neat, the shading and hair is cloolsome. It mostly the right arm/shoulder that seems a bit out of place  :) But keep drawing!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement.  I just need to work some more on it and refine some stuff.  That and next time not to be so lazy and at least try to find a reference picture of some sort!

Does anyone have any ideas for a background though?  Or should I just leave it as is?  (I really hate doing backgrounds!)

Nice one Bender-is-Great. Looks great... I've got no idea what you could use for the background though. Im not a big fan of backgrounds as well, so... but I got a question:
Did you use your 3d Bender model for this pic?  I mean did you put the movements on it and then took a screenschot?

Ah, man I was hoping someone wouldn't find out that I cheated!   :D That is my 3d Bender but I haven't gotten the whole skeletal structure done yet.  I just cheated and moved his arm and head around.

I initially started to draw Bender but couldn't get it down right.  It pissed me off so I cheated! LOL
