Wait, are there actually going to be new episodes produced for TBS, or is TBS just airing the backlog of episodes that Fox built up?

TBS picked the show up for NEW seasons after this one airs on Fox.

All right, thanks everyone. I was thinking that there was a larger backlog than there actually is.

There is basically an entire season's worth of episodes backlogged, but as far as I can tell, they are producing new episodes for TBS, too.

The backlog just means that we're going to continue getting the show for a year after it gets cancelled, which is sort of cool.

Good to know there will be new ones of TBS coming after it's run on FOX.   It'll probably get low ratings on there....

And that will be the next adult cartoon to go....

I wouldn't be that bummed if AD stopped somewhere on it's first or second season on TBS. It really went downhill the past 2 seasons.

I rarely watched it the last 2 years, not even bad, just kind of on autopilot

Season 7 was a bit mixed, but 8 was for the most part really great, with alot of episodes that are my all time favorites from the show (Lost In Space, Adventures in Hayleysitting, Why Can't We Be Friends?). I could live with the show being cancelled anytime though, but I'm not against seeing a few more Seasons from the show. Also, here's some promo pics for Poltergasm. http://m.imgur.com/a/O5DSD

Cool pics! Looks promising! I like the Stan/Francine pairing. Usually.

I don't really get SolidSnake's (continual) accusations of the last two seasons being bad. I agree with Box that season 7 was a mixed season (although I don't think there were any outright bad episodes in there), but season 8 had some real gems in it. Lost in Space alone would have been worth a whole season of terrible episodes.

I feel like the show peaked in season 6 and it's been downhill from there, but that doesn't mean that the last two seasons are even close to being bad.

I could agree with the notion that they've been somewhat on autopilot, but they're far from bad. They've been solid seasons with some gems dotted around within them.

Yeah, my autopilot comment as about them doing the same premise over and over, and I do agree about 6 being their peak, I think the great space roaster would've made a great seies finale

Honestly, every season is just a blur to me. I remember individual episodes, but I don't come out of any season with any recollection of it being a particularly good/bad season as a whole. Just "another American Dad season."

^ There are some seasons that are mostly bad, but there are a few seasons that I think overall are really, really good, (seasons 3,4,7). It's very hit or miss, but somehow it remains one of my favorite shows.

I have no idea how they're going to play the Jeff thing. To be honest, I think I'd like one episode a season devoted to his exploits in space on his journey home.

Yeah, like maybe every other episode can show Jeff coming home.  Although at the end of Lost In Space, I was expecting Roger and Stan to show up in a spaceship to save him....

No, every other episode would be ridiculous. They might as well make a Jeff spin-off if they were going to produce 11 episodes about Jeff in space with none of the other characters, per season from now on.

I see PEEL's terrible idea generator is still working perfectly.

I'm sure Jeff's storyline will be touched upon at some point in the next season. Since the beginning, the Jeff/Hayley plot has been one of the few semblances of plot continuity that American Dad has.

Yes.

That would be interesting, but personally I want to see more episodes on the Jeff/Hailey relationship. They were kinda one of those couples that rarely had a main plot connected to them.

I got the sense that the writers felt that they'd run out of things to do with their relationship, and that's why they sent Jeff into space.

I could be wrong.

Either way, I think they'd be wasting the opportunity in front of them if they didn't give us a handful of further space episodes before getting Jeff back home.

I think it's more likely that we'd just see Jeff having space adventures every now and then rather than having whole episodes that are set in space. Not that I don't think that would be cool, though.

That'd make sense; I hadn't really thought of that.

Wish Turlington, Reginald, Chuck White, and The Memaris would come back.   Will they ever?

Turlington deserves to come back.  Wish Turlington could've been in that episode where Bullock was thought to have dementia.  After all he was an internal affairs agent...

Yeah, like the golden turd saga except more frequent and over the course of just one season, I guess.

Another forgotten angle.  The Golden Turd saga.  Seemed like it was going to be the 'chicken fight' of AD.

Well, it basically was.

But they also pretty much ended the joke once they'd done all that they could with it.

Like the chicken fights. They're more or less retired - at least in their original form.

Man, I've seen maybe 15-20 AD episodes, including one or two with Jeff.  But this is the first I've heard of the "Jeff into space" thing.

The Golden Turd saga ended when Roger used it to power his rocket in Rapture's Delight, if I recall. It had gotten to where it needed to be: THE BEST FUCKING EPISODE EVER. :p

Thumb-Tach: The "Jeff in Space" thing was from the most recent season. It was introduced in episode 12 and, though there have been a few mentions of it (ie. an episode where the Smiths try to get Hayley to move on, and Hayley's tried dating since), episode 18 is the only subsequent episode Jeff has appeared in so far.

When will TBS start showing the new AD episodes in 2014?  Will we see them after New years?  What is FOC replacing AD with?

Mid-Late 2014 with a 15 episode run.

As for its replacement, depending on its success, Murder Police will probably replace it. Otherwise, another Fox animated show entirely.

Well, AD is the only Fox cartoon I'm actually DVR-ing tonight. According to DirecTV, it's about Steve using a cloning device to get a prom date. That seems like an interesting episode. I just hope it's a good premiere.

I really liked that premiere episode. It was 9/10 worthy. Or even somewhere in the 8/10s. I liked the plot, and alot of what they did with the story. I hope more episodes are like this one. Steve plots generally work out well. Plus, it had a nice set of jokes.

Way better than mostly anything the past 2 seasons gave.

8.5/10

Also, I don't really care for Roger to be qiute honest. Once in a good while I'll find a episode that makes me like him a teeny bit more. But in further episodes I just hate him again, because of how damn needy/pointless he is.

Snot was never portrayed as needy. Pointless, a little bit on some eps. But on this ep, and most others, his presence was awesome and made way for great jokes.

Roger acts like a annoying kid with ADD (or that special kid from school. You know what I'm referencing) on most episodes. It's just ugh. The only episodes I like him in, were the xmas ones, the ones with him and steve (most of them), and a few of him and stan.

That episode's plot was pretty cool. The part at the end with Stan freaking out over the dodo's death had me in stitches. Also Stan's obsession with people being mostly water.
