sorry if this is a rehashed topic, or if I'm the only one who didn't get the memo about it, but here goes...

I forgot the episode title, but it's the "crossover" episode with The Critic (the Jon Lovitz vehicle). Anyway, during the show's intro, Matt Groening's name is conspicuously absent in the credits...only episode I can think of where this happens. When I noticed it, I was like "WTF?!" I've wondered about this for years...did Groening himself have something to do with it? The only theory I could think of was that he refused to endorse the episode, 'cuz the inclusion of The Critic compromised the show's integrity (or something like that).

Anyone know the official (or close enough to be official) deal? Thanks in advance...

You got it.  What I heard is he took his name off because he didn't want to imply endorsement of the Critic.  It's a shame because it was such a great episode.

I think he wanted nothing to do with it.
But try  http://www.snpp.com  and use the search thing.

We also have enough Simpsons threads already so this might get closed.

This article at SNPP seems to have some good info on the subject (including some words from Brooks and Groening).
