This is the PEEL Official Star Wars thread, which I discovered that PEEL hasn't got yet despite the fact that Futurama is choc-a-block full of Star Wars jokes and that we have a huge fanbase (with Fishy).

So, what's your expectations for Episode 3?
And does anyone else play Galaxies or have the sudden urge like I do?

I have no urge to play any game.

I expect episode three will be entertaining enough, I'm sure it won't be as good as the first three films though.

I say the following:
You better not put another annoying dammed CGI Puppet Lucas!

Anywho, for those who play/want to/considering Galaxies, I hear the Add On pack for the Spaceship's is almost completed.

Episodes one and two have dulled down my expectations quite a bit. I haven't minded the story itself... but a combination of bad acting, stupid lines, dull action sequences (Jango Fett decapitated after firing four shots... WHY?) and just the general infuriating-ness of the first two have ruined all perception of the prequal series. Palpatine is pretty groovy, though.
Much prefer the expanded universe right now..

Oh, you don't like CGI characters Nurdbot? Prepare to hate the new villian.

Well... on the upside, it's a robot/cyborg thingy... Using CG to render living things is always a mistake (with perhaps the sole exception of Jurassic Park), but it works okay for automatons. Kinda. Well the battle droids are alright.

I still quite enjoyed Eps 1 and 2, and Lucas did say that this episode will be the dark one, whether it will eclipse Empire (or the other two movies in the original trilogy) will be another story entirely.

Im sure It will be dark but not in a cool way. It'll just be irritating. I officially began to hate star wars after I spent Six hours waiting inline at a preview.

SWG Kinda fizzles out. The hype was there, but just before it came out it went away. Now its been growing. But I know better than to get involved with an online RPG. They tend to destroy your life.

I thought episode 2 was much better than 3, but that still isn't saying much.  I think 3 will be the best of the new trilogy, but sill short of the original films.

Episode 2 was good, better than 1. I don't know whether Episode 3 will manage to match the ingenuitey and genius of The Empire Strikes Back (my favourite of the 5).

I was so disappointed by Ep1 that I ALMOST didn't see Ep2, but I did, and was surprised. It wasn't as good as it could/should have been, but it was still not as bad as I was expecting. It re-kindled my interest in Episode 3, but I'm still not anywhere near as excited as I was for Episode 1.  More of a "Hmmm, I wonder how he will finish the series..." excitement than an "WHOO-HOO! NEW STAR WARS!" excitement.  Of course, I was young back then...  Either way, I much prefer the novels (especially the older ones).

No interest in Galaxies.  I enjoy a lot of Star Wars games, but I have no interest in RPGs, and furthermore the whole concept of an RPG just goes against what Star Wars is to me, which is fast paced action/adventure movies.  I want to run, fly, and shoot....not select stuff from menus and build my charisma.  Galaxies is probably a fine game for those that are interested, but I'll never play it.

Anyways, Episode I was frankly pretty awful but Episode II was a lot of fun actually.  Not perfect (although to be honest Star Wars movies never had the greatest acting or dialogue), but still great swashbuckling fun, which is what Star Wars is all about anyway.  The biggest problem with Phantom Menace was that it was too slow ("Senate Redistricting" ), and the fast-paced segments were generally too dull and uncreative.  Clones had much more thrilling segments.

Does anyone know what the third movie is named? If it's anything but "The Fall of the Republic" I'll be severely disappointed.

Episode 1 was one big meh, mostly because the Gungans is the stupidest heroes ever created. I didn't mind the political shenanigans, I usually enjoy that kind of stuff.

Episode 2 was much better. Better action, better battles, etc. And I did enjoy the irony of Jar-Jar being such a pivotal element in the creation of the Empire. I hope that prompts his suicide. I enjoyed "Attack Of The Clones" except for the love scenes between Anakin and Padme, could those scenes be any woodier! And I'm not talking about the scenes with Padme running around in a torn, formfitting white thing.  ;) "Shoot at the nearest Federation starship!"  :D

I'm definetely seeing episode III.

Well ok I'll make an exception there. But the Imperial March is also good to sing under the influence of alcohol.

I heard that it was called "The Creeping Fear", but I later heard that debunked. This is one of those "we'll find out when we find out" things, I think.  I'm hoping for The Fall of the Republic, though (or something similar).

I thought Episode 1 was okay but I hated Episode 2. Longest 2 hours I've ever experienced in a movie theater. George Lucas is horrible at directing actors. He has to do something really good in Episode 3 to impress me.

Ok, I thought episode one was bad, thought episode two was better, and am hoping to see the best Star Wars character ever, Darth Vader in episode three (we should because Anikin becomes Vader during then and episode four).

Now about Jar-Jar,I know everyone (except my mom, she liked him, she's not a Star Wars fan) hate him because he annoying and out of place in the SW universe, but how exactly is he instrumental in the

Jar-Jar, sitting in for Padme Amidala as their planets representative in the Galactic Senate, is the one who suggest giving Palpatine emergency powers and carte blanche to use force to remove the threat to the Republic, in short making Palpatine dictator. It's doubtful any of the seasoned politicians in the Senate would've suggested this, but being a novice Jar-Jar doesn't know the full consequences of his proposal, but once Pandora's Box is opened the rest of the Senate agrees.

then you'll never see Yoda wielding a lightsaber. His duel with Dooku in Ep. II makes the whole movie - which was nowhere near as dissapointing as Ep. 1 - that much more enjoyable.

But you should see ep. III, because most likely JOHN DIMAGGIO will be reprising his role as General Greivous from the CN Clone Wars shorts in ep. III.

Anyways, SciFiWire has an (unofficial) poll up asking which title people like the best:

1. Rise of the Empire
2. The Creeping Fear
3. Revenge of the Sith
4. Circle of the Force

The Current results:

Rise of the Empire - 72%
The Creeping Fear - 4%
Revenge of the Sith - 19%
Circle of the Force - 5%

i cant wait for episode three, so this whole damn story will be over with. or else george lucas should let someone else direct.

we watched the first star wars in class in fourth grade, when we were studying samurais, and here is what my teacher said:
[Teacher]the characteristics of a samurai was alive in the past, is alive in the present, and will be alive in the future, in the eyes of one man. steven spielberg.[/Teacher]
and she had this glint in her eyes, and right behind her was this huge, gleaming logo that said, plainly, lucas films. i laughed so hard that i thought i would never stop. this is really the only thing I remember about 4th grade.

Ignorant teachers. If I'm going to show a movie about samurais to my students I'll show them The Seven Samurai  or something else by Kurosawa (or other Japanese directors). At least so they can compare Star Wars to a true samurai story.

I enjoyed episode I and II. Though they didn't have the greatest acting, they were entertaining, and that's why I see movies. It doesn't matter if it has some deep plot, as long as it entertains. Star Wars: Clone Wars on CN was really good, and it makes me look forward to episode III

The action scenes were a bit sub-par in Episodes I and II, but the political parts, especially in II, are interesting to consider. It's funny to watch Palpatine slowly manipulate everybody there so he ends up Emperor.   :)

The best thing that could happen is that Hayden Christenson learned how to act and Natalie Portman learned how to emote in the last 3 years.
