"It's" Monthy Pythons Flying Circus all the way.

"And the next question goes to you, Mao Zhe Zhung: The Hammers!! The Hammers is the nickname of what english football team?"

But if Yes, Minister/Yes, Prime Minister was a choice I would really have a problem!

Heyyyyy, look at that.
Teral, does the oh-so-akward top-of-the-page-dance he is capable of.  :D

yay Monty Python! As much as I love Father Ted and Blackadder, MP is the classic.

One Britcom that wasn't mentioned here that I quite like is Keeping Up Appearances... has anyone else seen it?

I think that Father Ted is the best out of the above but i do love Blackadder, Red Dwarf and Fawlty Towers too, the problem is that there aren't any new good British comedies!

As much as I like MP thereis just something about Red Dwarf that makes it a classic. Come to think about it were is the Brittas Empire that was great.

I voted for Black Adder, if only for Black Adder Goes Forth (well actually they were all great), a mixture of pure comedy, clever scripts and tremendous power right at the end.

I notice the Two Ronnies are missing, as well as the Goon Show which inspired most of the comedy list you see up there.

This has probably already been mentioned but how could Only Fools and Horses be missing off the list?

There is plenty of stuff missing, but a the poll only allows ten options  :(

"Only Fool and Horses" was great, I'd add some older stuff: "Dad's Army", "Porridge" and "Whatever happened to the Likely Lads" to name just three  :)

Hey, if we lump the Irish in, then we gotta lump in the Canadian and the Aussie sitcoms, too.  And maybe the Indian sitcoms.  Oh, heck, throw in the US ones as well.  :D

It's gotta be Monty Python!  Tho it's not truely a fair comparison.  MP was a 'Sketch Comedy' (as was Benny Hill and Mr. Bean), and the rest are 'Situation Comedies'.  Different form of humor.

AbFab is pretty dang funny, but they keep showing the same episodes over and over.

I thought Father Ted was written by and starred Irish people, but in fact made in England and bankrolled by Channel 4, meaning it can be classed as a British comedy...

Yeah, it did. The "contestants" tend to be the same people, but the presenter is Clive Anderson. He's better than the guy who does the US one, and doesn't muscle in on the last round!

Both programmes are very funny though.   :laff:

Monty Python is a british classic. I have seen many episodes and have the 3(?) films ~ Holy Grail, Life of Brian and The Meaning Of Life. I never get bored of watching them over and over again!

Policeman: 'im looking for a young boy'
Edward: 'pufter eh?'

oh and i think its a joke but will answer anyway....
