Well I cant wait to see England being humiliated against France...why dont they let musicians play instead of just people off the street.

It's always a good laugh to watch, Wogan makes it great. I think it's fair to say that we (Britian) don't stand much of a chance, yet again. Our entry is some boring ballad by this bloke with a guitar. Sadly, you can tell he's taking it seriously! If you're are going to be in the contest be as camp and cheesy as possible!
Long live the Urination, oops I mean the Eurovision Song Contest!

Quite frankly, I agree with everything alexvilagosh just said. It's being so bad that makes it good. We don't take it seriously, the contestants (often) don't take it seriously, Wogan definately doesn't take it seriously. It's a decent evening of absolute cheese. And the political voting... "The results from the Svedish jury; Norway Twelve points, Norvege Douze points" And the busty European chicks... what's not to like?

Last year I went to a friends "Eurovision Party", we even placed votes. I'm hoping to do the same again this year.
I think we should love it for what it is, it's surely not meant to be the "best" music from each nation, it's meant to be crappy.
Anyone who saw Austria's entry last year would agree, and that was just awesome, because it was so bad.

Pffft, that guy can hardly sing at all. Just as long as we get more than 0 this year I'll be happy.

Originally posted by aslate: Even if the entry was good, the political voting would rule us out, i mean i doubt we'll get many votes from the anti-Iraq war countries. I don't think that Germans won't vote for GB, because you followed the US into the Iraq-war. If your song is good, we will vote for you. Max Mutzke, German's entry this year, has been casted by Stefan Raab (Showmaster of a late night show, was the creator of Guildo Horns song "Guildo hat euch lieb" 7th in 1998, and artist with the song "Wadde hadde du de da" 5th in 2000). He won the German pre-election by 92%. His song ("Can't wait until tonight" ) went from 0 to 1 in the German Single Charts, in just one week. But I don't think that it has a chance to win, although it'll be a though decission. I found the history of the ESC. It was "invented" in 1955. EDIT: Saturday, May 15th 2004, 15:00 : The main event has started!

Well, it's just started and at the moment my vote is going to Norway. Mainly because of his suit. He looked and sung like Ronan Keating though. Weird. I love the way people vote in these things. there's a short space of time and everyone gets worked up. What fun. I think it would be pretty funny if England won. Then I could go next year and boogie on down and wave flags, and wear hats! My only worry is that there may be some terrorists wishing to strike Turkey tonight because it is very westernised. I hope they don't.

That's a great episode davey. I voted for Greece, Norway (which for some reason has no points) and Bosnia because of the great hip movement and campness. Yay! Go Ireland! They gave us points! Aw, thanks Irish people. (apart from faze) I thought the half time show with the marching people in black looked like gay stormtroopers. And go Iceland!

Sweden: "We love this competition so much, it hurts." At least they gave Norway some points. I'm surprised the Xena woman won. I thought it was bad. But no one got "nil points". Yay! One year to the next one....
