when did the simpsons start to go bad?

Hmmm... we've got a 'Did the show go downhill thread,' but not a 'when.' Well... OK.
The Scully era, dammit! In 4 seasons we only saw 20 good episodes or so. Probably less. Season 13 bounced back up a bit, with Al Jean. Season 14 docked down a bit from that, and now Season 15 is crusing along the same. The Simpsons ain't what they used to be, and some episodes are crap, but there is room for a few good ones. ("My Mother the Carjacker," "I, D'oh!bot" )
And why does everyone hate "Beyond Blunderdome"? I thought it was OK.
Homer: How about a ghost that wins the lottery! You can be the ghost, or the lottery commissioner...
