Rhino.com - MST3K Home Video

There you can order the older MST3K tapes, at least the ones that Rhino still holds the rights to.

And keep trading the tapes!

I liked Manos as well, although it is not my favorite episode... Actually I don't have a favorite episode, There is just a nebulus area of episodes I really like, Santa Claus Counqures the Martians, Warrior of the Lost World, the Godzilla and Gamera movies, Wearwolf, and Hobgoblins.

Miss Joel? I miss Crow, Tom, Mike, Dr F, Frank, Pearl, Observer, Bobo, and the guy before Frank (started with an E) Sucks that the show is canceled.

I just drove by Energy Park (where the show was made) today. Too bad they don't work in the building anymore. Also, I forgot to name drop that I took a summer class with the SFX guy for MST when I was a kid. We learned how he did all the stuff in the show.

Ah, MST3K, a great show that's given me some great memories. And, after all, they made the show just down the street from me, in Hopkins, Minnesota.

I still wish MST3K would come to Britain.

Still, they officially don't mind you downloading the episodes from things like Kazaa.

I wish MST3K had found a home in Canada.
*Hits Space! The Imagination Station and The Comedy Network for not picking it up*
*Hits Space! again for playing the non-mistied versions of some of the films*

I can't imagine what it must have been like for people who had a steady source of MST3K coming in every week instead of each new one being a precious, rare item.  But yay Kazaa (and BBI's attitude towards downloads) for increasing my collection.

Quotes:

(Scene: A girl wakes up and discoveres she's been drugged and kidnapped from the bar she was in)
Mike: Wait... How did I wind up in a fake car on a soundstage?
- The Wild Wild World of Batwoman

Arch hall, Jr: You're funny Mr. Miller... real funny.
Tom: I'm gonna kill you last.

Then it moved to HA! which changed it's name to comedy central it enjoyed a cult following but despite that increassing;y bad time slots and poor advertising progarmmers with their heads up they're A$$ who didn't understand the show it was dropped from CC who sold the show to the Sci-fi Channel there it stayed for 3 or 4 more seasons then the SFC was taken over by new owners who promptly stuck they're A$$ and canceled it for good which was followed by them cancelling Farscape.

Continuity error! MST3K was never on HA!

It was on the Comedy Channel, which merged with HA! to form Comedy Central.

I know this because I'm a genius. And also I read it in the official episode guidebook.

They mention it, "were on the comedy chanel." "Oh you mean HA!" "no the other one".

And don't forget about MST3K: 60 Min. the choped up syndication deely that was the first I ever saw at like 1 in the morning saturdays on a local crap station.

Yes! One-hour syndication was my first MST3K experience too. They showed episodes right after Saturday Night Live. SNL would piss me off with its suckiness, and then bam. Some of the best humor I'd ever seen.

I loved Joel, and I loved the "old guy" who introduced the episodes. Then, I read an article saying that Joel left, and was replaced by Michael J. Nelson.

"What? They replaced Joel with that old bastard?" I thought.

Joel was good with is riffing, but when it came to the sequences with the 'bot's outside the Theatre, it wasn't his strong point.

Mike's the opposite.

Mike WAS the old guy (Amazing Colossal Episode Guide) It was called the Mystery Science Theater Hour. I always thought Joel sounded half asleep during the out of theater stuff. The Movie was funny but it was to short. and when MST3K came to SCI-FI and they changed Crows voice I hated it, but I got used to it
During the CC days The man who played Dr. Forester (Trace) also voiced Crow. During SF He was voiced by the guy who played Brain guy. Tom was voiced by None other than Bobo himself.

By the way, in case anyone didn't know, "the old guy" was supposed to be A&E personality Jack Perkins, with whom they were obsessed for some reason.  At one point he expressed interest in actually appearing on MST3K, but in the end nothing came of it.

Clear!

Back on topic, my favorite recent episodes would have to be the Screaming Skull(The Gumby short was hilarious!) and the Invasion of the Neptune Men, although my all-time favorites are Cave Dwellers and Devilfish (which was the first episode that I'd ever seen)

Come on people let's keep this thread alive

The final re-run of MST3K aired today.  It's now off the airwaves, perhaps forever.

'Tis a sad day.  I got up early this morning to watch it (We have DirecTV, which gives West Coasties the eastern channels).  It's a good episode, one I've got on tape, but I was really tired, and ended up falling asleep when Tom ordered his free coffin.  :(
Still, I got to see one of the funnier shorts, Robot Rumpus.  I think Rhino's actually putting the episode on DVD soon.  I know there's already at least one DVD set featuring Sci-Fi era episodes out.  Still, it's not the same as watching it on TV with all those crappy Tremors commercials.

The next DVD set will contain Time Chasers, The Touch of Satan, Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders, and Boggy Creek II.  All of those were Sci-Fi episodes, but that's not supposed to be an indication that more older ones won't come out later.

Damn, I forgot about the final airing.

But coincidentally, a few days ago I dug around my old tapes and watched Jack Frost and Puma Man. Sigh...such great movies.

The thing about MST3K is, even if the jokes weren't funny, you had to at least respect their ability to find the worst movies ever. I was stunned by how weird every frame of Jack Frost was.

I just watched "Manos" The Hands of Fate again, and it was as bad as I remember.  (I try to watch it once a year.)  If you're interested, here are two articles that have interviews with several people involved with the movie, including the person who played the little girl.  The description of the movie's premiere is as funny and sad as the movie itself.
