I know this alittle offtopic, but anyway;

Is anyone considering to switch to Foxtel/Austar Digital? For the package I have now on the regular Foxtel its going to cost almost as twice as much on Digital. It does have its advantages though - more channels, news coverage, 'round the clock recent-released movies. I'm still deciding if I am going to switch or not - anyone else?

I don't think so - most of the new channels are audio only, and the new audiovisual channels don't look like anything special.

As for the "customised" news channels - why not just watch the whole thing on free-to-air TV? Actual news coverage only goes for about 15 minutes ("actual" meaning news other than sport) and it's not as if the segments are all mixed up (so you'd have to sit through a sports story between two current events stories) so I'd rather just watch the first bit.

The "movies on demand" thing would be good - but you never know, it may be that the movies they're offering are the old ones that already play on Showtime - so you will have lost interest or seen them before they come up as a choice. So, for me it just doesn't seem worth the money.  :nono:

I dont really want to upgrade, I wanted to when I first heard about it, but  in time ive found alot of it is just shit. Tech TV and the new discovery channels would be great. The news would be good. But alot of that sports coverage is just useless. The news would be good. I wont upgrade until theres enough positives towards digital. That Foxtel Box office is Crap! You get two free movies then The rest are pay per view, like an aussie HBO. I might as well walk down the street to Galaxy.

Does anyone know if Foxtel is going to eventually shutoff its current broadcast in the future so only Foxtel Digital will remain?

Heres the list of the new line up

Yes they will. They said that in the little Digital brochure that came with our TV guide a couple of months ago - but they didn't say how long they're going to keep the analog programming for after Foxtel Digital comes in...

Oh yes, I remember reading that awhile ago. That should not happen for quite awhile, what about the people who dont want to switch and their Foxtel is then shutoff? Will Foxtel give them the Digital connection fee for free? Definately not.

I'm all for this Foxtel Digital, though I dont want to be forced to switch to it if they threaten my current Foxtel connection.

Well, Thats just captain fucked then isnt it. They better ad something attractive to Digital. Why dont they have more sports, I.e the six nations and FA cup.

I'm thinking of switching to optus.

Reason being, Commercial TV just seems to be getting worse and worse, and Foxtel is owned by fox.

Concerning this Digital debucale, why have all these pathetic channels (How To, E!, VH1 etc) and not a Sci-Fi Channel?

Blesphemy.

We want a Sci-Fi Channel!!111

I'd watch it, if only I could get watchable SBS reception. It pisses me off not being able to watch anything on SBS. I miss South Park, all those semi-pornographic foreign documentories (The Clitoris anyone? Or maybe you'd prefer Hairy Women   :flirt: ), soccer, and now Harvie Krumpet.

Ooo, burned, SBS is the only channel I watch now.

TWO doco's on the clitoris in the past year.

Where do you live to not be able to pick it up?

You have TV1! Every time you flick to it, stupid Star Trek is on! You know, TV1 should really buy Friends. The whole slogan is "TV's greatest hits" - Friends has been a staple in TV for years now. But yeah, there are too many lifestyle channels. I think there should be a "World's Blankiest Blanks!" channel, just in order to clear them out from the (otherwise good) Comedy Channel. I hate those blankiest blanks shows, they bore me to tears! Give me my old Futurama DVDs any day.

In order to thwart my many internet stalkers, I won't mention my actual suburb here, but it's not very far (about 15km or so) from the Melbourne CBD. I think it must be an arial problem, or possibly some weird localised reception thing.

they are new movies, well kinda like the inroom movies in hotels, left the cinema, but not yet on showtime or DVD, + it will set you back $6AUD to watch it.

Bend Her and Obsoletely Fabulous aired last night? Hmmm... Channel 7 must be airing the episodes in Production order now, but leaving out the episodes they already aired... or something.

Oh well - I saw Harvie Krumpet. I actually thought it was pretty good. Okay, it wasn't brilliant, but it was better than what I expected. Definately better than Eat Carpet material... that show scares the crap out of me.

Well the McSeason 5 thing has the last few eps in the right order I think, so if they're following that then they'll be in order....

TV1 is the best channel on Foxtel. No question about it. Though, calling Star Trek "stupid", is stupid on a message board that has many Star Trek & Sci-Fi fans (afterall, this board is mainly Sci-Fi based). Please, dont call a show that has millions of followers and influenced so many TV-shows "stupid", its only going to come back to you three-fold.

On another note; Did anyone watch 'Clerks' last night (animated series)? I never knew it was on C7.. its amazing what you'll find watching TV all night.

Hardly. These are the order the last 8 episodes of the PROPER Season 4 went:
Where No Fan Has Gone Before
The Sting
Bend Her
Obsoletely Fabulous
The Farnsworth Parabox
300 Big Boys
Spanish Fry
The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings

And THIS is the order the last 8 episodes of McSeason 5 went in:
The Sting
The Farnsworth Parabox
300 Big Boys
Spanish Fry
Bend Her
Obsoletely Fabulous
Bender Should Not Be Allowed On TV
The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings.

If you compare these lists - it looks like Channel 7 are airing the last 8 episodes in production season order - except that instead of Where No Fan Has Gone Before, they aired Bender Should Not Be Allowed On TV, because WNFHGB had already been aired - and BSNBAOTV was made BEFORE all the others anyway. Oh well, I won't be watching anyway now that I have all the DVDs.

Ummm... getting back on topic... Ah fuck getting back on topic - it's an Aussie thread.  :p

However, no - I've never seen Clerks before. I'll have to check it out some time. Any good?

Oh, my yes. Well the movie, anyway. Haven't seen the series. All the movies in the "New Jersey Triliogy' are pretty good (bar Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which was still funny, but a dumber kind of funny). I love Chasing Amy, if only for the Comic Convention scenes.

With only 4 eps left that I haven't seen I'm not that fussed if they are out of order....Maybe one day Channel 7 will replay all 4 seasons in the proper order, in PRIME TIME....

Yes, yes it is. I've only seen 2 episodes, and its great. Think 'Clerks' the movie; add wacked out storylines and a distant feel of 'The Oblongs' (well, a little bit). Check it out next wednesday around 1.45am C7   :)

Yeah, that was good. I think I prefer Billy in an interview context, where he can just relax, tell funny stories and joke around with the host, rather than doing stand up.

Yeah, i'm over Reality TV.  I mean Big Brother and Ausssie Idol are Tv shows that would be good as a once off thing.  But after sequeling them they become boring.  Speaking of Idol.  Why the Hell do we have American Idol?  I mean, there's enough American Crap on Tv as it is.  Why not put a something new, or even re-runs are better then that.

Has any one watched Yes Dear' on C7 at about 11:30am wk days?  Its pretty funny show.

I can't remember what was on Tuesday but my post still stands....

What, so I shouldn't express my opinion?

And the other thing: Gleno - did you just get The Neverhood recently? Because I played it with my cousin when she got it for her birthday when it first came out, but that was ages ago. So now I'd love to buy it, but I can't find it, which isn't surprising, because it's about seven years old. Anyway, if you bought it recently, where from? And how much was it? If you didn't, do you know anywhere in Perth that sells old PC games?  :) thanks!

I'm trying to hold out from buying the season 4 box set, in the hope that the price will come down soon, but I can feel my willpower weakening!
It'd be pretty silly of me to rush out and buy it now though, since I haven't got through season 3 yet (I've seen all the episodes, but I haven't finished re-watching them in DVD quality, and listening to the commentaries, watching the deleted scenes, etc.).
