I thought it Couldnt hurt to Ressurect the old thread. But for now at least lets not take any Chances. Post Conservatively Ya'll.

If Tweek Will permit me I'd like to take the opportunity and strike up a Conversation About the New direction Seven Has taken Over the summer.

It seems we Are free of the Gardening Show Crap and for now Atleast. We get Three Great shows Almost Weekdaily.

I never thought Id watch channel Seven Again.
I wonder How long it will last, And I wonder How long It'll take Before Futurama comes back. If it isnt already...

Ooooh, Aussie TV is back, BABY!!

Anyway, C7 has gotten' better - with old sitcoms and some drama shows coming back, never thought i'd see the day that C7 is actually watchable.

Its good to see 'Scrubs' and 'That 70's Show' back.

Futurama and King Of The Hill are basically the only shows on Channel 7 that I watch. Still, Channel 7's new "awesome summer" campaign really is a pain in the ass.

Speaking of Australian TV station's advertising campaigns - has anybody seen a commercial on Channel 10 advertising next year's line-up? Nothing but crappy reality and lifestyle shows for 2004...  :(

Has anyone noticed how channel 9 has become the "yard channel" ?
an evening on 9 has become something like:

6:30: BackYard Blitz
7:00: FrontYard Blitz
7:30: Burke's BackYard
8:30: Burke's Frontyard
9:30: Location Location Location
10:00: The Block
10:30: The Suburb
11:00: Changing Rooms
11:30: Changing Houses

it just goes on, geez channel 9 used to be cool!

I personally find it really hard to believe that all these shows get good ratings. I mean, how many shows about gardening/rennovation/travel do they think we need anyway?

Now its all about yard and news. Geez, I dont want to know how to install a fence or build a shed.

I may be mistaken... but i think i heard something about us getting American idol...
And it gets worse with Big brother (3?)(4?), which is no doubt going to be terrorising TV screens very soon.

If it wasn't for Neighbours and the, what now seems to be mandatory reality show, most days i could watch Channel Ten from 6:00-8:30 if i wanted to.
In fact when the comedy line up was still on most days... Simpsons, Sienfeld, Raymond, Becker, Etc. And i wanted to watch all of it, i usually just watched Neighbors anyway, but now that The naked chef, Oliver's Twist and the other reality shows are on i can't do that anymore.

I R Pissed.

They don't really, but they're cheap to make, so they don't need good ratings to draw a profit.

I still hate them though....

Fargo is on Friday I think.

Everyone Says this is a really great movie.
And although it does seem to have a really great cast I wouldnt expect a kidnapp movie to be all that great.

Has anyone seen it. Why is its reputation Justified.

Oh and please, dont give anything away  :D

I've heard that it comes out on February 18.

Anyway - getting back on topic, does anyone know if Channel 7 will start airing Futurama again once 24 is finished? Hell, if they put on 2 episodes every Thursday night (like they used to), they'd probably be able to finish airing every episode before the DVD comes out.

I don't know for sure, but I'd be surprised. I've pretty much given up on watching Futurama on 7 anyway. Soon I'll have every episode on DVD, so there will be no point staying up/ setting the VCR.

Does anyone here know anything about Planet.DVD? Because $83.95 for Futurama S4 with free delivery seems pretty good to me, and definitely worth it if they can be trusted.

I'm assuming that when 24 is gone they'll put futurama and King of the Hill back on. Currently the worst show on at night on all channels would be that 'What not to wear' show.

Seems logical, though if people stayed up to watch Futurama, C7 might see the ratings and leave it on (I can dream, cant I?!).

And with Zoidyzoid's query on the Planet.DVD Futurama S4 set, that is a good price with free delivery (I'm assuming its nationwide) - seems more convenient than an UK import.

It is a good price, but what I really wanted to know though was whether anyone had bought from them or heard about them, as I don't want to rush into an online purchase from a site whose reputation I'm unsure of.  :)

Errrrmmm... steering well away from Neighbours - are there ANY decent new shows on this year? Pretty much every channel just seems to be adding a load of shitty reality shows to their 2004 lineup. In fact, I don't think I've seen a commercial for ANY good upcoming shows. I haven't even seen a commercial for a new season of any good current shows either!

Yeah that was great when they did that, although it made them use up the eps twice as quick....not that it matters now *hugs his S3 dvd*   :D

Back on topic, I have to say I've really gone off tv in the last few years....Reality shows, home improvement shows, cooking shows, dating shows....
I'm all for new ideas but don't run them dry....

I'd get Foxtel if I was home enough to make it worthwile....and I'd feel like I was wasting my money watching only one channel when there's 50 othetrs to choose from....heh

Edit: February 18 wooo not far away  :D

Channel 10 has a name for all the Television to placate the Depressed masses.

"Event" TV. I feel it describes the whole appauling situation a lot better.
To be honest the term Reality TV was only appropriate when nearly every new show being made wasnt one.

Heres Ten's "exciting" new shows lined up for us this year:
Big Brother 4! (This will be nearly as popular as the last big brother)
My Restaurant Rules!
American Idol!
Australian Idol 2!
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Australian version)!

Scrubs is a good show, some of the sitcoms on Seven on weekend nights(Life according to Jim, Still Standing, 8 Simple Rules for dating my teenage daughter) are decent, if nothing else. South Park on SBS is good for those boring Monday nights, but that's all I can think of that I find worth watching.
