THIRTY-FIVE new episodes!? Are you serious? That many? Wow, now I've even more excited for the return of Family Guy.

I don't believe that there will be a movie though. I'd have to see a trailer to believe that one.

I'm inclined to agree with the conjecture that the 3-parter is the once-proposed movie.

New series teaser: http://www.fox.com/familyguy/video/FG_2005teaser_1_hi.asx

I can't view it, does it show episode clips or what?
I'll consider allowing WMP through my firewall.  :)

Yeah, 35 new episodes will be produced no matter what. But FOX is only signed on to air 13 episodes. But there is the possibility that if FOX doesn't air the rest of the episodes, Cartoon Network will.
Oh yeah, there is a 'Family Guy' movie scheduled to be released on DVD by the end of this year.
I apologize if this information was was posted before, but I didn't feel like searching through the other pages.

Road to Rupert was a classic.  I loved Stewie dancing with Gene Kelly.  It's a scene from Archor's Aweigh and it features Gene Kelly dancing with Jerry mouse from Tom and Jerry.

Meg kicking ass and Peter not being able to drive was great.

No one has talked about Family Guy in nearly 2 years? Or is there another thread? Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's another thread. You fail, guy!
Anyway, this was the funniest ep I've seen in a while. I actually laughed out loud a few times. Well done.

Family Guy pretty much sucked after it came back because they know most of the fans will watch it no matter what. It's easyer to write a shit story than a good one.

I kind of have the Cartman opinion on Family Guy, I find it a bit to bombarded with mindless jokes then actually enjoying the story etc. Although i have never really liked Family Guy anyway I only ever watch it when I want a cheap laugh and watch Futurama to enjoy the show, jokes which make you think and the series development of the characters etc

I completely agree with you on this one Dave.

I can handle Family Guy in small doses.  I'm usually partial to more intelligent forms of humor and Family Guy is a bit too juvenile for me.  I still watch it when I'm in the mood to laugh at a fart joke, but that's not too often.

Family guy used to be extremely hilarious! When it was on TV it was seriously the only show that I would make a point to watch. After they were brought back it was totally different and went to crap.

Now they think they're totally infallible and can just knock on celebrities with absolutely no comedic value, like when Peter was Christina Agulera's manager. Just a total cheap shot, nothing more. Not even slightly funny.

They also straight-up steal things, like they brought in Lumberg to do a line. Again, not funny, not even their material. Then Peter does a "like the time" scene where he steals the "ding fries are done" song with no shame.

They replay gags where they have no relevance, like at the end of one episode, the greased-up deaf guy runs into a store to say "good to be back America!"  So lame. They probably got a huge laugh from a lot of easily amused people out there.

Now they also constantly mention that things are bits and talk to the camera. Stewie (after joining the army) murders the two Vaudeville guys in the recruiting station and then looks and the camera and says "there. They're never coming back."  Another time he said a "like the time" setup and then mentioned "oh, we don't have a clip? I thought we had a clip." That is totally paltry.

They also try to utilize the implausibility of cartoon for gags, but just plain don't pull it off. Like when Stewie and Brian shoot each other in the foot, then the camera turns away and comes back and they're fine. It just couldn't get a laugh from me.

90% of the humor is now based on parodies of other TV shows and pop icons. Sometimes whole scenes will go by and I'll have no clue what they're emulating. Not only that, but they add nothing creative or any twists to it. "Oh look! Peter is doing Mary Tyler Moore! That is the funniest thing I've ever seen! I've seen Mary Tyler Moore before! I get it!" Whatever.

And the "like the time" scenes are totally out of hand. They don't even have to make anything close to sense. like the time peter went swimming with the bulls. Ok. My roommate laughed his ass off at that scene though. The only way you'll find this drivel funny is if you have a hard-on for Seth McFarlane.

The show used to have a certain innocence to it. Lois would have straight lines about loving her family and stewie acted at least somewhat like an infant. Now the show is basically a platform for Seth McFarlane to criticise celebrities and pay homage to anything pop culture.

I used to love that damn show so much. Now anything that was good has been beaten to death and any new material is trying too hard or just plain not comedy. It makes me so angry that I just might write and long and bitchy rant about it.

Personally, I think Family Guy is somewhat of a fad right now.  The show was a lot better before it got cancelled the first time.  After it came back, it really changed.  It seems that right now they're more obsessed with seeing how far the censors will let them go.  All of the pop culture refrences pretty much makes the re-watchability take a nosedive for a future audience.  (I don't thnik re-watchability is a word, but I don't really care.  :D )It really dates the show.  Once the fad of Family Guy dies down, I don't know how long it will last.  That's just my $0.02.

It'll probably fade away once Simpsons finally calls it quits, once there's no more "Animation Domination" line-up fewer people will turn on Fox solely for Family Guy

Do you think Simpsons will ever call it quits  ...seriously??? Its gone on forever, which I can understand as it is a brilliantly funny show and I want it to go on as long as possible!

I wondered that myself.  How long can The Simpsons go on?  Sure, it's a cash cow, but enough already!  The Simpsons has had it's day in the sun for too long.  Why not have something new like King of the Hill, Family Guy, and American Dad take it's place?

In my opinion, the last good episode of Family Guy was The Fat Guy Strangler episode. Everything after that is crap!

It just makes me so angry when people say that Family Guy in general is a much better show than The Simpsons. That's absolutely insane!!!

Let's see...The Simpsons had at least 10 completely smart and hilarious seasons before it started going downhill.
Family Guy had about four stupid yet still hilarious seasons, then became completely terrible.
So explain to me how Family Guy is better?

To me, Family Guy is like Married with Children meets Naked Gun.  Family Guy's humor and characters are way more extreme than The Simpsons.

Dammit Family Guy quit using those same Irish stereotypes (the wife beating one I don't get at all), you could at least research some good stereotypes to use!

Also, that was a fucking British taxi, dumbasses.

I guess the wife-beating stereotype is more for Irish-Americans, so it'd make "sense" to carry it over to Ireland. Still lame, though.

Here's a good stereotype: The Irishman who wins all the PEELies. Eh? Eh?  :D

Ugh, this show is occassionally funny, and that's about it. The depths they often sink to in the hunt for a laugh really is quite stomach-turning!

Certainly not the worst show in the history of television programming...but it again demonstrates the retardation of Fox - they renew this tripe in favour of other, higher-quality shows like Futurama and Dark Angel, amongst others?

Peter fighting with the Cicken is funny but the show isn't a funny as it could be. If I want to watch somethin with retarded humor I'll watch it. I'll never get why Fox went for Family Guy and keeps renewing it instead of much more funny and intellegent shows like Futurama.

Personally I didn't notice the difference in between the cancelled seasons....I still laugh my arse off but there has been a few episodes where I only laughed a few times but not many....

Also I loved Family Guy from day one when it first aired here back somewhere in 2000 (only 2 eps of Season 1) but I knew I would love it....but it was never shown again, then fast forward to last year I think when they started showing it again late at night and all of a sudden my friends are saying "Have you seen this show called Family Guy damn it's funny....!"

Yeah of course....I saw it 6 years ago but now all of a sudden it's popular just because it was cancelled and became a cult hit....

And how can you not laugh when Stewie keeps pestering Lois after she saves his life....!

"Mum, mum, mum, mum, mummy, mummy, mummy, mummy, Ma, Ma, Ma, Ma, Lois, Lois, Lois, Lois...." etc

Fuck that's funny....!

I had the same experience when family guy first started getting aired on Adult Swim.  Maybe I'm a pompous arrogant tv watcher, but I generally have a thing about bandwagons: I don't approve of them.  So while everyone is yelling Family Guy is so GREAT!@1  I'm staring at them disapprovingly as I suggest that by watching that show they have the maturity of a snot-nosed second grader who revels in telling potty humor.  That's not entirely fair to the show.  I watched it when it first came on, and I admit, I liked it a lot.  I believe it first premiered after the premier of futurama, which I was wholly more interested in.  Futurama is definitely the better of the two, but Family Guy was witty, and in a way original; its flashback sequences which parodied popular culture from decades ago sparsed with a few randoms is actually quite entertaining and humorous, at least on the first viewing.  In a way it wasn't original though either; an analogy can easily be comprised about it of "it's the simpsons, only much more crazier".  To a certain extent, that is actually a pretty close description (you could also insert random sitcom family in place of "simpsons" ).  I think maybe one of the largest reasons I know have a such a strong negative reaction to family guy is that exploded into success off the bandwagon.... even though futurama seemed to not get the attention it deserved.  Then again, I suppose Futurama was better recieved in my mind, if only for the fact that I knew it was great and it was something I didn't have to share with lesser beings.  That will probably change in the future, if it hasn't already.  Maybe I should think twice about getting on my high horse... and I suppose I can still watch Family Guy and enjoy it... I think I'll always still have a little spite for the bandwagoners who now wear the merchandise and quote the show ad nauseum.  Afterall, where were they when the show got cancelled the numerous times it did?  No... they're the kind of people that follow things because its popular - I'll probably never have any respect for that kind of mentality. :sigh:
