Are any of you planning of watching the New Simpsons Halloween special this sunday? I'm not sure because I feel if I do I'll be a sellout to fox.

I wont be able to see it for another year or so anyways, being UK.

The one episode I'm really curious about is the upcoming England episode. Part of me wants to watch that to see what Tony Blair took time off from the Iraq war for and part of me doesn't want to give him, J.K Rowling and The Simpsons in general the time of day.

There's a 99% chance I'll forget it's on, since I have forgotten it's on every Sunday since I've been about 12.

Yeah, sure.  I'll watch.  Why not?

It's not as if refusing to watch will bring Futurama back.

Unless you have a Nielsen box in your home, watching it wont give Fox any ratings.  So you don't have to worry about that.

That said I am skipping the shitty sounding Tony Blair episode.  Even if it turns out well, I hate Tony Blair enough that if I bothered to watch it I'd still hate it because of him.  Its like getting OJ Simpson as a guest star.  Or Hitler.  Definetely Hitler.

What I hate is how Fox is now showing the Halloween episodes the weekend after the holiday. WTF? Would it cost so much to air it the weekend before, or even on a weekday?

There's a few potential reasons for it (all of them evil of course)

1.  The World Series.  If it goes to seven games then they can't show it, at least not without showing it on a "special night" in which case the ratings wouldn't be as high.  If it doesn't go to seven games then that leaves the slot open, but anyone planning in advance to watch it on the 2nd (or which ever day it is) may not know of the change and might miss it.

2.  November is sweeps month.  #1 is the official answer Fox has given, but I would bet this factors in too.  The first episode of a Simpsons season generally gets huge ratings.  Same goes with a THOH.  Combine the two, and you have you HUGE ratings.  And Fox probably wants to capitalize on that for sweeps.

You think that sucks, in Australia the Halloween episode is always the season opener....usually mid year April/May....

Not that it matters to me....the Halloween eps are usually my favourite.... :D

But you live in Australia, which is in Opposite Land, where your summer is our winter and our Mondays are your next Wednesdays.

I'll watch this Halloween ep. It looks more of the traditional scary stuff from the older specials.
