What's the best movie spoof?
Which is the the worst too?

Of course I couldn't put in Young Frankenstein, because it would have won

I put them in the order of my preference:

"Kep firing assholes!!"

But I couldn't think of a specific movie (that I've seen) to link it to!

Also, I strongly recommend Fatal Instinct if you'e seen Basic Instinct and/or Body Heat.

Airplane! Airplane!

Spaceballs, no contest. Followed distantly by Airplane!.

btw, What is Airplane! a parody of? it has to be a parody of something to make the list. i cant think of anything it parodies.

I have always meant to see Spaceballs...*sigh*

Out of the 3 films out of those I've seen, I would probably have to go with Galaxy Quest. But I won't vote for it, since my knowledge of the subject is woefully small  :hmpf:

"Airplane!" was a parody of Airport, Airport 1975, Airport '77, and The Concorde: Airport '79.  As well as a generic spoof of Irwin Allen-style disaster movies like Earthquake!, The Poisiden Adventure, The Towering Inferno, etc.

And while we're at it, where's Blazing Saddles?  Or The Naked Gun?

I haven't heard of those Airport movies, so that's why I didn't attribute it as a spoof, and Blazing Saddles and Naked gun are a spoff of more than one specific movie.
So  :p

Pathetic excuse.  Even Spaceballs was a spoof of more than one movie.  :p

I voted for Men in Tights.

It's the Cary Elwes factor.

OH JESUS H CHRIST I was just looking at a list of movies Cary is in, and he was the nerd guy on Liar Liar!

THAT IS WRONG!!! WRONG LIKE A PEANUT BUTTER AND KETCHUP SANDWICH!!

The problem with spoofs is that they try too hard to make you laugh, so hard that it makes them not funny most of the time. Out of that list, the one that made me laugh the hardest was the original Scary Movie. I don't know why, but it was just so hilarious the first time I saw it.

The problem is, this is an entirely different kind of spoof altogether.

Melllvar and Evan: "This is an entirely different kind of spoof."

But of those listed: Spaceballs. "Self-destruct button. Don't press unless you really, really, really mean it."

Galaxy Quest, just for everything it represents.

Not that I don't adore Mel Brooks' work.

And the Hot Shots movies will always hold a special place in my heart.

Lucky you.

If Airplane had been there I'd have voted for it, as it isn't I think I'll vote for Galaxy Quest. I hated Spaceballs, and intent to avoid seeing it ever again.

I voted for other, because Young Frankenstein, Airplane, or Blazing Saddles wasn't on the list.

Of the movies on there, Spaceballs was okay, and Galaxy Quest was great for an old school Trekkie.

Spaceballs did have some funny moments though:

"We're combing the desert.  Have you found anything? We ain't found shit!"  :laff:

I go for Hot Shots Part Deux.

I liked all of it, the Saddam bashing, the crazy Rambo-style over-the-top stunts, and possibly the only movie to have an American Gladiators spoof. I used to like that show.

however, it was a close call. i was about to vote for loaded weapon - *gasp* -.
yeah, i know, the movie sucked but some of the jokes in there are so lame they're funny again and those will always have a special place in my heart.
such as the bull horn-joke.

Young Frankenstein! I forgot about that one! That one would have been very close to getting me to vote opposed to the Cary Elwes movie. . . very. . .close. . .

Boo, bad choices!  I agree with the other previously mentioned non-included movies and have to add the first Austin Powers movie to the list of spoofs criminally-gypped by this poll.

Is that the same guy?  I haven't seen Spaceballs in so long I don't remember the face.  He missed out on TNG and wound up on the inferior Voyager.  That's bad luck.
