I think the problem with the Galaxy-class is that in TNG, they tried to make it look as agile as the original Constitution-class, when it's not supposed to be. The Enterprise-D is more akin to a battleship, whereas the original Enterprise (and of course, the NCC-1701-A), were heavy cruisers, and hence more agile.

I don't like the way the Intrepid looks with it's nacelles in the down position - not enough depth below what would be the waterline of the ship - with them up it looks a lot better.

Also, the Sovereign is a ship that looks fine from any angle except directly behind, because it distorts the nacelles to make it look oddly stunted.

My favourite designs:

1. Constitution-class refit
2. Defiant-class (it's like a souped up fighter)   :D
3. Excelsior-class (I think the Enterprise-B version marginally edges out the original)
4. Akira-class
5. Prometheus-class (Multi-Vector Assault Mode!)

Wow, although I've tried to keep an open mind, this does sound bad. I thought they learned a thing or two from Eragon, like don't turn bad fan-fiction into motion pictures.

As for ships... I've never been a fan of the Sovereign class, looks too CGI-y and generally not a practical design.

United Federation of Planets

1: Defiant class
2: Nebula class
3: Steamrunner class
4: Promtheus prototype
5: Galaxy class

Honorable mentions to: Nova class, Danube class and Saber class.

Alien

1: Galor class (Cardassian)
2: D'deridex class (Romulan)
3: B'rel/K'vort class (Klingon BoP)
4: Borg cube
5: Does the Nor class count?    :p

Agreed. Ugh, I'm gonna puke.

I don't know why they wouldn't have Doohan's son play Scotty but what ever they casted Winona Ryder so fuck it. Also what ever happened to Kirks comendation for original thinking for beating the Kobayashi Maru? Fuck all the casting I don't see half the cast as the roles they are supposed to play. Anton Yelchin as Chekov  :puke:.

I generally hate time travel plots and this one ugh not sounding good at all. If this is as bad as it sounds then we'll... Well I don't know.

Well, he probably had some people (including the Head of the Academy) angry with him at first, because what he did would technically be considered cheating. Ever heard of the phrase 'cheating death'? Well, that's what Kirk did during the Kobayashi Maru; and kept on doing ever since then. Obviously he came out on top in the end and received his commendation.

So, according to the updated trailor for the movie on it's website, it's now scheduled for "Summer 2009" instead of the previously advertised "May 2009". Ooh, fun.

I can't imagine a more blowfull casting decision than putting emptyheaded clothes thief Winnona Ryder in the new movie.  It's a bad omen; a bad omen I say!
