The new Disney Channel is crap. I would only watch Toon Disney because it had the stuff I grew up with.

I'll bet the new one is better.
If the old one had no ads, then it probably had subliminal messages.
Unless the new one has ads AND subliminal messages.

I prefer no Disney channel.

I love classics, like Lion KIng, and even mushy stuff like Alddin, but if you know me you know that I probably hate disney more than fox.  Not one good show. Some of the worst shows in existence: Lizze McGuire takes the crown for worst show ever (i mean, it's where, dare i say it,where duff started), Proud Family, what a horrible show, also it can be inappropiate for its designated age group, etc.  I could go on and on forever about how much i hate disney, so i won't.  I'm not sure if i watched old disney, i grew up watching CN and Nick.

Agreed. I was a Disney fan when I was a wee lad but quickly realized as I grew older that 97% of the movies made by Disney were...well pretty much the same. Disney mangles history, creates stereotypical bad guys, and let's not forget, Walt Disney was a nazi sympathizer (Boy do I looooove pissing on the dead). Sadly, all the other bad legends about Walt Disney are false.
If you want quality cable television for yor kids then have them watch Cartoon Network or some old tapes of Invader Zim, Pete & Pete, Ren and Stimpy, Big Wolf on Campus, Rocko's Modern Life, and Kids in the Hall (it's never too early to introduce your kids to Canadian sketch comedy).

In the older days, the Disney Channel was a special treat. We only saw it on free preview weekends. I love free preview weekends. They put their best foot forward and then you order the channel and all you see is shit. Their channel has produced some weak shows, but I'm not afraid to admit I liked their series "So Weird," unfortunately the lead girl left and the series went downhill from there. With the first girl, it had more of an X-files feel to it. (The truth is out there) It had an excellent side plot exploring the mystery behind her dad's death as well as random weird things that happened. Then the new girl got on and the only mystery there was that she had this mysterious panther guardian. It might have worked had they not left the first mysteries unsolved, but they did and I couldn't settle in for the new ride. It was cancelled soon after and most of the reruns shown are from the first girl's time on the show. Wonder why? ;)

Anyway, with the loss of that series went my interest in anything on that channel. Most of their other series have not been up to the same level achieved by "So Weird"

Their newest series "That's So Raven" has me puking so hard it's not funny. For an excellent show featuring a psychic I recommend USA's "The Dead Zone" That's the good stuff people.

Oh and not to sound racist, but has anyone noticed the increase of black programming on that channel? (The Proud Family, Smart Guy, Sister Sister, The Famous Jett Jackson) It's npt that I mind, it's just a trend I noticed.

I never watched it. The Disney Channel only seemed too girlish for me. It was either for really young kids or tweenage girls. Both of which are my favorite groups of people.  :nono:

The new Disney channel sucks.  I miss the old one where they were showing all sorts of really cool classic cartoons.  Now they just show stuff for preschoolers and lame-o original series.

Never watched Disney Channel, I was a fan of Disney when I was younger. As I read more of the books that were made into the classic movies I realized how much they bastardized the source material (Kaa was a good guy!) and started to drift away.

I despise what they are today, releasing crap constantly tarnishing what good they used to have...

Really bad how Toon Disney has the rights to the Myazaki films, I have a fealing Cartoon Network would have really gave them the expsosure and promotion they deserved. (check out how they treat Iron Giant)

Yeah, they do bastardize a lot. However, they remained pretty true to Pocahantas. (Although I think that the sequel was a bit off in that she really stayed in England. She didn't go back home.)

So the endings are all screwed up. I'm not saying thet didn't bastardize it, just stayed close to the way the story happened. And notice I said 'story'? That could be wrong too.

I didn't even know the Lion King was a rip-off of the story Kimba the Lion until recently. But then you can say that Kimba took from Hamlet. One movie star said it best: "Originality is really undetected plagiarism."

They just started offering this channel as part of our basic service in June. Too bad there's almost nothing left worth watching. All the good stuff's been exiled to Toon Disney, and you need to order digital cable for that.

And does anyone remember when "Raven" (and is there anything more pretentious than calling yourself by one name, especially if you don't have the actual talent to back it up) was the irritating little kid that send the Cosby Show hurtling over the shark?

There are shows that I like that are in the new Disney channel but the old disney channel had Zoogs (The old ones) I was a HUGE fan of MZ and Cube Show. and they certainly didn't have our classics on EVIL time slots. (HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO WATCH SO WEIRD AT 3:30 AM??!!

Actually, that's still the same channel. We're all talking about when Disney was a noncommerical, more than basic, cable channel. You're thinking of something the new channel used to do.

I agree with the time slot thing. Oh another quirk. Both new and old Disney channel aired really old shows at night. Now they've gotten rid of Vault Disney and all that's shown now is repeats from the day programming.

Bah! I say. Zorro was pretty good at times.

Oh yeah, Vault Disney!  That totally rocked!  I always set my VCR to record that stuff and watched it nearly everyday.  It's so frustrating that the Disney Channel changed for the worse.  BTW, I was wondering, how does the Disney Channel make money?  After all, they don't have any commercial advertisments and such.

Toon Disney had ads. Also, Disney owns ABC and what used to be Fox Family. They can afford to show self related commericals. I think they should go back to NO commericals. They do it for the little kids and I'm sorry, but I want to shoot myself if I catch a glimpse of their early programming.

Are you aware Kim Possible is in the nominations for the emmy for best animated program and is a threat to Futurama's chances for winning it? (not a big threat though)

Eh, I wouldn't even consider the threat.  It's nowhere near "best animated show" quality.  It's probably there just because a certain number of shows have to be nominated.  That's my best guess.

Today's Disney Channel sucks.

Back then, Disney produced some good shows and aired movies like The Phantom Bicycle, Flight of the Navigator and anime movies featuring Unico.

Now they produce their own crap like High Musical and use spoiled child stars.

Shows like Sister, Sister, Smart Guy don't count since they used to be another network and Disney just mooches off their success airing reruns.

Even their own shows suck.  They always have the same concept.  Three friends, one annoying main character, one who tries to be cool or potential love interest of main character, and another is a complete moron that you wonder why are they in school level that they are.  These shows make me think that Disney thinks TV viewers are stupid.  What are the writers thinking?

Hannah Montana- Piece of shit.  It's impossible for a pop star to pose as average student, with the media today. Can't anybody on that show tell they are one in the same based on their facial features. If Hannah were to wear sunglasses, it would be more convincing disguise.  Her friends are both so dumb, the boy Oliver is such a retard.

Cory In the House-  Same concept three friends, main character annoying, one who's the potential love interest and one who's a moron, and they live in the White House?  No, wonder why terrorists hate Americans.  If they watch this show, they'd think the president is as dumb as the president on this show.  I give Bush more credit, which I'm a little disgusted to say, but this show has made me say that.  If I want to see people make fun of the president, I'd watch SNL or Madtv.

That's so Raven-  This follows the same formula.  Main character annoying, one character trying to be cool and one character who acts stupid, nothing original.

The Suite Life-  This is a decent show, it reminds me of some of the old comedy short--Marx Brothers, Three Stooge--since it's featured in a Hotel.  At least the dumb character is dumb and rich [Paris Hilton parody], which explains why she'd have little intelligence.

The only thing that makes new Disney Channel good is that they air cartoons like Kim Possible, The Emperor's New School, The Replacements and to a lesser extent, American Dragon.  Kim Possible is the only good show Disney channel airs today.  The Replacements is a sleeper hit, but still good.

Whichever Disney Channel without the live-action "comedies" and High School Musical. I love Kim Possible, all other DC shows are completely unoriginal piles of trash.
