I'm a new member and this is my first post but on to the topic. I assume everyone here hates koth(I refuse to type out the whole name) but I'm interested in hearing why you hate koth. (be very honest!)  :)

I just hate the characters
Hank is a jackass
Bobby has serious mental issues
and Peggy is a self absorbed bitch
Sometimes these types of characters work but KOTH just makes me hate them

It's not funny at all!  There is a little bit of heart but i don't get emotional. it's plain boring.  EAvery ep is about bobby doing something hank doesn't like.  Animation sucks, and I just don't like this show at all.

Just in case there are people who don't know what King of the Hill is then I'll describe it: A family of hillbillies in Texas have a ton of wacky sitcom-esque adventures usually involving one or more of their crazy neighbors.
I hate it for a number of reasons.

1. It had a better timeslot then Futurama, it would've done fine if it came on after Football because KotH and Football usually share the same fans.
2. It's hard to get involved in an episode.
3. Mike Judge can do better than this.

I have been a fan of Mike Judge for years and when this show premiered I was...disappointed. Yes, I know it's a satire on the south but most of the people who watch it don't realize that because it's way more subtle than the way Beavis and Butthead satire teens (and that was pretty subtle itself).

It occupies a different niche than most cartoon watchers expect.  Every Fox cartoon has had its own theme.  "Family Guy", "King of the Hill", and, to a lesser extent, "Futurama" were just harder to infer for lesser TV watchers than say "South Park" or more recent episodes of "The Simpsons".

If you take the time to think about it, "King of the Hill" is actually quite humorous.  I wouldn't say that it was better than "Futurama", "Family Guy", or old episodes of "The Simpsons", but it is worth watching the old 12:30AM reruns.

Oooh, King of the Hill, right, that show is pretty much lost on me, though I did like this one where they were trying to sneak out of Mexico with that Japanese guy in the trunk and they all end up running away when the guy at the border asks if Arlington is a nice place. Heheh, that was funny the rest I didn't get, especially that fat kid *shudder*

I don't like KOTH because:
1) It's too low key for my taste.  In other words, it's boring.
2) The animation matches the boring nature of the show
3) There seem to be too many episodes centered around Hank disapproving of some non-manly activity Bobby is interested in.
4) I can't get the idea of Hank ordering a large pie, fries, and a coffee out of my head when I see the show.

I don't mind the show.  I don't particularly love it either but it's OK.

I hate Peggy though, and will change if it's an episode centering on her.  But I think Dale's hilarious, all conspiracy theory and weird noises.

I hate the drawing style, the animation is really bad, the characters are boring, and the plots make you fall asleep.  And worst of all, it's stolen Futurama's timeslot way too many times.

This is really sad! It's called sour grapes. Sure, I don't love KOTH as much as Futurama. And I only watch it occassionaly. But it's a perfectly good show! The characters escpecially the suporting cast are really funny. And don't forget it's from Mike Beavis and Butthead  Judge!

B&B is boring, and so overrated. They had all these lame music videos instead of rock videos, and when there finally was a good video, B&B 'd just talk through it.Besides, it was cut up by MTV adverts every 5 minutes.

I have found most eps of KOTH to be lifeless and dull. One example of a ep that was done right was, the ep were Dale Gribble thinks he has gotten . I don't think anyone could sit through that ep and not get rabies a laff.

There's only one thing wrong with killing Peggy... you can't do it again, and again, and again.

Really, she just might be the single most unlikable character in cartoondom.

Each character on the show represents a part of American life we might not think of as ludicrous but frequently is.  The thing about Peggy's character is...  Oh, what's the fucking point?  My dead-horse-beater is broken from the gun thread.

The only good characters are the supporting characters and that doesn't save the show. It's like watching The Simpsons just for Apu or Krusty, while you hate everyone else.

I don't think King of the Hill is that bad. I mean yeah it's not best or the funniest, but it's still somewhat decent. Yeah, there are some pretty boring episodes, but overall i enjoy KOTH. I actually like the neighbors more than the Hills. My favorite character is Boomhauer (sp?)

Kryten, I love you!  Will you marry me?  I want to bear your children! etc...

I used to like KotH, and I used to think Luanne was hot in the dark days before the goddess  Leela  arrived on the scene.  But the show lost it's way somewhere in the third season, and was never as funny again.

And as for Peggy Hill  :puke:

I'm sorry, I thought i could finish that sentence without wretching.

KOTH isn't at fault for Futurama's death, people.  It had nothing to do with it (and I imagine Futurama alum Wes Archer doesn't blame it either given that he's worked on both shows).  Its just Fox stupidity.  KOTH itself has barely survived Fox's "support" during certain seasons, though its seen a recent surge in popularity.  If you want to hate a show for Futurama's sake, hate goddamn Malcolm in the Middle.  Not only did it take Futurama's cushy original post-Simpsons spot (almost ANY show can succeed in that spot, which was probably a big part of Malcolm's initial success), but, well, it just flat out sucks, and is one of the most vapid and shallow (not to mention idiotic) shows on television, maybe EVER.  Its not really Malcolm's fault either I suppose (its not like the producers said "lets go destory Futurama!  Bwahahahahahahaha" ), but the fact that its so goddamn bad should garner it more hate then KOTH.

Anyways, as for KOTH...I like the CONCEPT.  A completely realistic, down to earth, character based show is a great idea, and one that's sadly lacking in any live action sitcoms right now, let alone animation (other then KOTH and the first four Simpsons seasons).  But....the characters just don't really work for me.  I understand that many people who've lived in Texas or similar areas tend to enjoy the show a lot, but personally I just cant relate.  And alot of the characters are just kind of stereotypical of themselves.  Nearly all the material for Hank is him being anal about something, Bobby is always doing something Hank disaproves of (often very flamboyent things), etc.  I can see why other people would like KOTH (whereas most live action sitcoms...Malcolm for example...are too shallow for me to respect), but it personally doesn't resonate with me.

Therein lies the problem.  The early episodes, although not completely realistic, were character driven, and that's what made it so watchable.

But since the third season the storylines have gotten progressively loopier, with the characters getting into more and more outlandish situations, and Peggy falling out of the plane was the final straw.  I quit watching the show about the time of Hank's propane dance troupe.  :nono:

I will go against the grain and say that I honestly love the show. The humor is subtle, though there are valleys of quality lower than expected there are no drastic changes like in the Simpsons, and best of all, the characters are very strong. They all are able to sustain a certain unique quality while all sharing would distinctive character trait: selfishness. Dull? That is really dependant on your taste. I agree that there could be a few less Hank doesn't like Bobby episodes, but I still would be very upset if I ever had to see the series end. From what I can see, there is nothing seriously wrong with the series and I don't think you should blame it for Futurama being canceled. Blame Fox, if anything. They gave the KotH the crappy timeslot now and unlike what some previously claimed, It is NOT working for them.

Who's blaming it for Futurama's cancellation? Is it not legetimate not to like a show?

I don't like KOTH, it's boring characters, it's bland animation or the fact that most of the jokes fall flat on their face. I don't blame it for Futurama's cancellation, but I don't like it either. I'm fairly apathetic about it actually.

It's not a terrible show in itself. It's pretty bland and unfunny for a cartoon sitcom, but some scenes and characters are OK. The Hill family are stupid and 2-dimensional, but Dale and Boomhouer are good for a laugh. Alas, my brother thinks every episode is a riot, since that stupid prostitute episode. He really likes pimps.  :nono:

Perfectly legitimate. The "blame KOTH for Futurama's cancellation" talk did come up earlier though. Purely facetious remarks, I'm sure.

I never had to watch the show, I lived in a neighborhood that was like the real live KOTH.
I was both funny and sad at the same time. *sniff* I miss those dopes.

I never cared for KOTH anyway. Besides I felt that the show should have been cancelled a LONG time ago. If it was I felt that Futurama should have lasted this long.To this day I still think (and know)that fox cancelled the wrong show.
