I've noticed that many of the people who distribute Futurama episodes online (not: no clues here about how this is done or how to find them) also distribute Dead Like Me. In fact, after South Park and the Simpsons, it seems to have more distributors in common with Futurama than any other show.

This seems very odd to me. I know there's a big overlap in fandom between Futurama and South Park and the Simpsons, but is there that much overlap with Dead Like Me (a one-hour drama on Showtime about the lives of reapers, who separate the souls of the dead from their bodies)? Or is it just a coincidence?

Anyway, I've watched a few episodes (just because of where I've found them), and it's not a great show by any means. It's certainly better than most of the other crap on TV, but I'm not sure it's worth watching regularly.

I have no idea why so many critics loved their preview copies so much, or why so many hated the show as soon as those same episodes appeared on TV--or why so many illegal Futurama distributors seem to like it.

Any thoughts?

it's a pretty good show, but not the best thing on TV.  Good acting.  I'd rate it a A- overall.

It an Awesome show, Its dark comdey, it sometimes has the sillyness and fun has Futurama. So i think some fans futurama will like it also because of that. Beats anything on network tv now, since Future is canceled (but its on showtime, so you have pay for it)

People who seen the show, and know the sence where Roxy tells Mason she wants a parrot. know what i man. Pure Comdey there

Dead Like Me rocks. Easily one of the best programmes on the TV at the moment. The Toilet Tree has to be one of the best aspects of the show...   :D Makes me laugh every time.

Exactly. It's one show where I laugh and cry in the same episode.

I love it. Period... it's got a theater of the absurd quality to it and it's just downright top-notch story telling, plus they have the single greatest clip-show ever made. episode 12. it uses clips from former shows to show the inter psche` of the characters + it ties it all into a heartfelt bundle of emotions with a most righteous refrence to a most righteous famous painting. God bless showtime. Period. God bless all of us watchers! (P.S if you want the whole first season on tape. I'll give you my adress and as long as you cover the cost of the tapes I'll copy it for ya free of cost) & Yes you can sure as shit laugh, cry ,and contemplate life all in the same 45- to -60 minutes WOOHOO!

God the main character (that frowny pouty girl with the mannish voice) is bloody annoying.
I didn't think you could get more pouty and frowny and angsty than Buffy Summers, but I was wrong.

That other reaper chick is hot though.
Humour was ok (I've only seen the one episode).

I caught it on broadcast tv one of the past weekends and got into it since then. Just finished watching the first two seasons (how many seasons are there?). I really enjoyed it. I liked George except she became a bit whorish second season. And the rules became inconsistent (not unlike Buffy...). Still good show though.

Yeah I realize I'm 4 years late with this post. I don't get cable/satellite, confound you!  :(

I've caught a few eps here and there, and I've loved every second of it. I didn't want it to stop. But... it was not to be.

Woah.... 4 year gap??

BRUMP.

This wasn't a bad show, but I'm torn between being conflicted or at a crossroads! The main character is too angsty and whiny, most dead people should be less self-absorbed. The supporting cast is pretty good, though, and the gruesome deaths appeal to the barely contained bloodlust constantly bubbling under my surface! :)
