Palpatine, he played the game well but was betrayed by a stupid Chosen One.
What are the odds, eh?

I choose Gocad, he's my favourite fictional character.

But I chose Han on the list

Han Solo, he's a baddass.

Shoot first, quip later - that's how we likes it.

No one can beat Boba Fett. Best bounty hunter in the universe, has kick ass armor/weapons, and his name is Jaster! I mean Jaster! I'd kill for that name! Boba Fett.

Jango Fett?  JANGO FETT?  Boba Fett only had 3 lines and wasn't even named until Return of the Jedi, and he still owned his old man.

Out of protest, I'm voting Yoda.

Don't you mean quip first, get shot at second, and then shoot?

Actually, he escapes from the Sarlacc in the Great Pit of Carkoon by killing the creature with a grenade and crawling out. It's covered in the novels "Tales of the Bounty Hunters" and "Tales from Jabba's Palace." He makes appearances in later comics, too (not official canon, I know, but we're talking about a fictional universe anyway).

So I vote Boba Fett, but since only Jango's on the list, it goes to "other."

Well, he was digested first, but the only reason he survived is because of his armor. He has to get constant kemo and can't have kids anymore...

I read "Tales of the Bounty Hunters" a few years ago.  Something very interesting is told about IG-88 at the end of his tale:

Also, I believe that Bossk deserves a mention in this subject.

EDIT: Thanks LAN.gnome

I was trying to make a long story short. I also could have mentioned the Sarlacc's strange telepathic abilities and it's odd abilitity to absorb the memories of the it digested.

EDIT: Atticus, it's "Bossk" not "Bosk."

If it didn't happen in the films then as far as I'm concerned it didn't happen.

@ Speli: Male.

@ Tweek: There's a lot of action going on off-camera in all the Star Wars movies. George Lucas is nothing if not thorough and creates extensive background stories for every character you see on film. For example, most of the aliens in the Mos Eisley cantina have stories outlined by Lucas as to how they got to that point in life.

Besides, even if anything did happen in the films, it still didn't really happen. The movies and books are just different mediums to tell the same story about a fictional world. One can't be more right than the other.

That can't be true.  Why would a bounty hunter be abour the DSII?  And why would the empire grant computer access to a bounty hunter?  The only reason the Empire was employing them was to get Han and Leia in order to lure Luke into a trap, and that plan failed.

And I believe Lucas has said that Fett died in the Sarlacc.

Take it easy Delta-V, what I said earlier was from the end of IG-88's tale.   ;)
I assure you that all of the logical answers to your questions can be found by reading IG-88's tale to it's entirety in the book "Tales of the Bounty Hunters".

Yeah, he has a lot of background info, which is interesting to read about. But so much of the stuff written by other scifi writers is so crappy! Come on...IG-88 downloaded into the Death Star II? That has to be the worst thing I've ever heard.

I don't know if I can pick a favorite character. Han and Vader are pretty rockin' though.

Are any of the Star Wars novels that go beyond the trilogy approved as Star Wars fact by George Lucas?
Or are they just published fan-fictions?

I believe that Lucas has said in interviews the only thing that's 'gospel' in the SW universe is what's in the movies.  Of course, he can change that, too, if he wants.

However, all major plot developments are approved by him, I believe.  He just doesn't have to follow them if he doesn't want to.

It has to be Han Solo. He doesn't have any force powers, and he's not very nimble in field combat... but he can pilot... and he ends up with the girl.

C-3PO is underrated. I thought he was hilarious in the original trilogy. His bits in the prequels have been kind of forced, but I still think he's sexy.
