It's that show for little kids? So it isn't that funny.

Yes it's funny as hell! And homerjay, it's not really for kids at all.

I hadn't heard of it either, but I searched for it on Google and found this site. It looks funny, and vaguely like Banzai.

I think it's called "Most Extreme Elimination Challenge" here.

its on the comedy ch.
this is one of the best shows ever, its a japanese quiz show and contestants have to complete some of the most painful, embarassing, and funny as hell challenges.
On one show an old man had to pick one of five walls. 4 of the walls were made of concrete blocks and one was made of foam blocks, they all looked the same. First he had to choose which one it was and then they would fire him out of a giant sling shot to see if he was right...
most contestants go home with broken limbs and crying....hehehehehehhehehehe he    :laff:

edit: by the way, yes its just like "banzi"

Go Takeshi! That's the only Game show I like!
Have you seen what the Winners get?  :laff:

Besides, I think you could only win by accident...

to be fair.....its aint that much like banzai....mmmm you start with one hundred people and whitle them down by a series of challenges...its mor elike its a knockout....but more painful.

Its fantastic though....but i dont know how to take craig charles commenty??? sometimes its funny and at other times it annoying...still its a great show.

Has anyone actually won yet???

It's more like It's A Knockout (cheesy British slapstick game-show of the 70s/80s that got resurrected on Channel 5 and Challenge TV a few years ago with Keith Chegwin, Nell McAndrew and Frank Bruno. It was the kind of thing they normally played at the seaside... I went to see the filming of one once. Wait, why did I do that? Oh yeah, cos it was free).

Anyway, it's much more similar to It's A Knockout than to Banzai.

It's more like Noel's House Party if Noel Edmonds was Japanese, but was really Stuart Hall.

Craig Charles' commentary is what makes it though.

according to the website that zoidyzoid said about only around 3 people have won, and seeing as how many epidodes there are its only a tiny percentage.

I've seen it both in Britain and Germany and I think it's as funny as hell. I couldn't understand the German commentary but laughed at what I could see, but Craig Charles really adds to it in English. I like how he takes the show even less seriously (if that's possible) than the original makers.  :D

After all, I doubt that winning was really part of the game concept...  :evillaugh:

It always seems bloody impossible to win, what do they get? It's a great show to watch whilst 'influenced'.

I think all they get is some sort of worthless junk. At least they never said anything that they (the winners) had won any money or other valueable stuff.  :evillaugh:

Takeshi's Castle is the best show ever! (Except Futurama of course...) Even though I wouldn't last two seconds on it if I was to compete...

What's your favourite challenge? I like the Gauntlet best, followed by HoneyComb maze.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but it's better than making a new thread...

Out of all the shows ive seen its somewhere in my top 10, about 8. I like the honeycomb maze and someone DID actually win the final round.
Tv.Com said it was aired Friday November 1, 2002 and ended Sunday May 11, 2003. Hard to beleve huh?

This show deserves a bump. There's nothing that can quite compare. More entertaining than anything in the world, and I do mean anything.

It's on as MXC: Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, and it's a hoot.  Love the banter between "Kenny Blankenship & Vic Romano".

Nothing wrong with watching Asian people hurt themselves.

I do enjoy this program, Skipping Stones is easily the best to watch. Oh the pain...

I loved it.. so many rofl ...but with "further development"

ill explain.. Takeshi's Castle was aired in Spain back from 1990 to 1995 as "Humor amarillo" (yellow humour) , instead directly dubbing it.. "adaptation" was made in a quite original and unexpected way.. Juan Herrera and Miguel Ángel Coll (wich would became famous for the work) dubbed as if they were two "event reporters" comenting on the show to the audience .. rather than dubbing what characters on screen were saying they allways made up some hilarious backstory using the show characters as it was as the characters for the unrelated hystory..

This sounds like a total destruction of the original show (and it was really) but somehow Herrera and Coll made up so inmensely hilarious and absurd hystories.. they renamed all characters and show trials and even asigned characters to some contenders making them even have continuity within the program itself..

The show became a legend that even when only like 40 episodes from the total 100 were "adapted" they were ran each weekend (2 eps per weekend) for 5 years non-stop..

The legend lived on so much that in 2006 another station bought up the show's 100 episodes and they had another two famous humorists Fernando Costilla and  Paco Bravo re-dub the show totally in the same style as Herrera and Coll.. the new adaptation envolved all 100 episodes.. tought it has not reached as much fame as the 1990 adaptation..

I know most of you will see what we did to the show as a total destruction and afrent to the original Takeshi's work (and in some way it is) and i dont know if this was made in other countries.. but here it made the show a national legend forever .. quite hard (if not impossible) to explain to outsiders..
