Highlander: Endgame

Horrible, horrible movie.  Throws Highlander 2 out the window.  You would think that after however many movies, Christopher Lambert would have figured out at least how to look like you know how to use a sword.  Anyway, it cemented the idea that the key phrase for the Highlander series is "Conintuity be damned!"

Zoolander
Not that bad a movie.  Worth the price of a rental, at least.  Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson did a good job, and it was just a goofy, off-kilter movie.  Lots of celebrity cameos.  I don't regret seeing it.

I have never seen any Highlander movie, but didn't part 2 throw the original out the window? I thought the second movie was the bastard of the series, that nobody cared about or even remembered when making the sequels/tv series.

The 51st State.

What can I say, Samuel L. Jackson can't make a bad movie in my opinion.
Give his character the power to
plus team him up with that guy from The Full Monty and a kilt and you have a sweeet funny as hell movie!!

Grab yourself a copy now.

I totally agree.

Watch the first one, then never see any of the others. EVER.

Apologies for the double-post:

Just watched "Razor Blade Smile" (avoid, bad film, bad direction, badly written, badly acted, I've got chairs that act less-wooden than in this film).

I feel violated.  It reminds me of why I hate Goths so much.

So, to make up, I'm currently watching the "Untitled" cut of "Almost Famous" on DVD.

Which is really cool.

I went to see this with my brother because he's a big Highlander fan.  I agree with you, it's one of the terdliest movies I've ever seen.  It also contains the most in your face product placement I've seen in a movie.  There's a rooftop fight at night backlit by a giant JVC sign.  That's subtle.
I liked the Highlander TV series, makes me wonder how they turned the movie so bad.

i really liked monsters inc.

anyway...

My.Big.Fat.Greek.Wedding.SCREENER-ESOTERiC
this movie's really really great.  my lil randi is half greek and says this is the funniest movie ever, so naturally I wajnted to watch it   :D so the other day i finally was able to download a good copy and heres my review!

The story is just so funny...its about tis 30 year old greek women who is like the only person in her 30+ family of people that hasnt been married yet or has a girlfriend/boyfriend or dated.  So blah blah blah a lot happens and she meets this guy (his acting wasnt amazing, but it fit the role perfectly) and they fall in love and, of course, get engaged.  Problem is he isnt greek, and not one person in her family has been with a nongreek, so you can imagine all the horror the family goes through when they find out she loves him.

Anyway, the acting in this movie is A+ and the story is quite hilarious.  my mom and I both agree this was way funnier than meet the parents, and whats funny is a lot of greeks are like this in real life, so its not really a joke, cause its how they act.

10/10

I rented Best In Show the other day. It was good, but not as good as I had expected. There were lots of funny quirky stuff, but I don't think I LOL-ed once. I would just sit quietly and think, "hmm amusing." oh well

24-Hour Party People

Loved this movie.  Was really into Joy Division/New Order, and had been looking forward to it.

Steve Coogan seemed to be channelling Tony Wilson, all his mannerisms and meaningless drivel came out.  Soooo funny.  Also for thinking that Shaun Ryder was a genius (compared to Yates the Poet) when he was actually just a druggy bonehead.

Classic.

The Dentist

One of the last movies I got to see before the cable company finally realized I was stealing HBO.

I didn't see all of the movie, but it was a horror/suspense thingy or something. I wouldn't exactly call it "good", but the dental torture scenes were very effective. Even though the effects were kinda cheesy, when you see someone's teeth being drilled all the way through, you can't help but cringe and look away from the screen.

Also it had Mark Ruffalo, and he is kind of sexy. Oh and some teenage girl who gets into sexy situations.

Unless you're a pedophile or a horror movie fan, I wouldn't recommend renting it. But if you have free HBO and it comes on in the middle of the night, I say sure, why not.

I saw parts of Inspector Gadget yesterday.  Man that movie sucked more than everything I've ever seen.  I wonder why that channel showed a movie for kids after 9:30, and in the middle of the week.

I hate the cartoon too btw.

Heheh, Inspect-her Gadget.

The Big Lebowski

Best Coen Brothers film everrrr!!
Got it on DVD, has no extra features at all
But I still have to see Oh Brother Where Art Thou.
Anyway, Jeff Bridges is brilliant as "The Dude" ("His Dudeness", "Duder" etc.), plus John Goodman and Steve Buscemi (and special appearance by Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.) and also brilliant.

Some excellent tripped out scenes:
Jeffery Lebowski IN: GUTTERBALLS!!
also starring Sadam Hussein as a Bowling Alley Guy Who Gives out the Shoes!!!

Great plot with twists and turns all around the place. Had me in stitches laughing.
Go for it baby!!
A+

The Guru

I went to see it today and thought it was Brilliant. it's kind of a Bollywood, song and dance film.

Jimi Mistry  plays this Asain guy who went to American to become a moive star but was mistaken as a sex guru.Heather Graham in it too and she's good.

I just love all the dancing scenes.

High Fidelity - JB's performance sticks out in the film (one of my favourite film, of my favourite book) especially him singing at the end.

Evil Woman - JB with Jason Biggs, Steve Zahn, Amanda Peet.  JB, Biggs and Zahn are a Neil Diamond cover-band!  Peet is utterly despisable as Biggs' girlfriend (the 'Evil Woman' of the title).

Enemy Of The State - JB plays "Fiedler". Great movie.

Cable Guy - Plays Matt Broderick's best mate.  I still like it.

Orange County hasn't come out yet over here, I think.

Plus small roles in Mars Attacks and some others.

Look out for Kyle Gass (his partner in Tenacious D) in JB's films (Shallow Hal, Evil Woman, Cable Guy, probably more....

Oh, and 'The D' were in Bio Dome.

"Evil Woman"? Are you making that up? Or did they re-title it for the UK release? In the states it was called "Saving Silverman".

I snuck into Orange County and watched like five minutes of it. Jack Black is a sexy man, but the movie really sucked.

wow. that makes up for the harry potter title change in the US. people complained that Americans were too dumb to know what a philosopher was and that may be true, but at least we know what "saving" means!

The English title: Amelie

And what was that b-movie with the mutated spiders? Arac attack aka Eight legged freaks. I actually hate both titles.  So...b-movie.

I probably wouldn't rate this as high as Toy Story II, however this was still a hugely enjoyable movie and tremendous fun.

One Hour Photo

Right up with The Road to Perditionas one of the simply best directed films of the year. The movie is visually stunning, and Robin Williams basically delievers what I thought he couldn't do-give a performance that doesn't involve him warming our hearts. This could be Williams' best, although I haven't seen Insomnia yet, and I do have a low opinion of most of the actor's work.
For the first hour, I wasn't sure whether or not to pity Williams' "Sy the Photo Guy" or be afraid of him. In fact, I think that you're supposed to feel like that for the first half of the movie, and the end, well....wow. .
Great job all around, probably a 9 out of 10. Plus, there's references to both The Simpsons and Neon Genesis: Evangelion, except that goddamn kid gets his info wrong! What the fuck! I hate you, stupid boy. Calling Eva Units 05-13 "good guys"?! AHHH! :finger:
    Ahem....yes, good film.

This may mean nothing to you guys stateside, but it's the story of Tony Wilson - the man behind Factory Records (New Order, Happy Mondays and others) and the Hacienda club in Manchester, England.  Loads of good music and very very funny.
