Futurama is king of Adult Swim.  I enjoy Home Movies, but it's not near the level of Futurama.  I go out of my way to avoid Family Guy.  It looks even worse than normal by following Futurama.

Home Movies is watchable, but I don't see it on a regular basis.  I also try to avoid Family Guy.  I do think the show is funny.  But for whatever reason, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth after I see it.  Also, I don't think the characters are sympathetic.

Eh, Home Movies is funny because it's pathetic.  That John McGirk guy is pathetic but funny.  I also like the part when Jason is like high off candy and sugar.  That always makes me chuckle.  Of course, Home Movies' plot is kind of dumb if you even want to say it has a plot and there is not much emotion.  Futurama kicks it's ass.  I don't know why people hate Family Guy.  I always found it funny and original.  I don't usually watch it, but it isn't too bad.

Newsweek just did an article about Family Guy's success on Cartoon Network.  They praise it as "bitingly funny" and mention how popular it has become now that's it's no longer on Fox.  But no, they say not a word about that other Fox show that was abused during its original run but is now finding a new audience on CN and getting ratings comparable to Family Guy's.

I don't know, I think they wanted to play up the relative obscurity of Family Guy, and of course Futurama can always be identified, even by people who haven't seen it, as the show "From the Creator of The Simpsons!"  I'm still annoyed, though, especially since I don't think Family Guy is anywhere close to being as good as Futurama.

Yeah, same here.  But both shows are still getting good ratings and whatnot.

Family Guy is perfectly watchable, but you feel like you've seen it all before. It's the result of mixing The Simpsons setting, Futurama's off-the-wall jokes and general weirdness (weird in a very good way), and a bit of South Park style humour. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just not in the same league as any of the shows it so desperatly wants to be. Altough I have to give respect to the guy who created it, apparently he writes it and does some of the voices too. He's living the dream.

i think you've been ridiculed enough, so i'll make mine short. this continuality thing you keep referring to so matter-of-factly; i looked it up, it's not a real word. i *suppose* you meant continuity, so to you i say: what do you expect? you act like futurama is unusual or flawed by that; its a comedy! most of those don't have big, sweeping, hard-to-follow story arcs. it's a common style of show! it doesn't have to be serious all the time! its fun!
as stated by fry himself:
"[It's] just a matter of knowing the secret of all TV shows.  At the end of the episode everything's always right back to normal."
so don't tell us to move on just because you have some stupid theory about how tv shows *should* work.
wow that was way longer then i intended. bye now.

Actually if you want a show with continuity, Futurama should be first on your list!

They probably already covered that several times since the start of the CN run and didn't feel like beating a dead horse.

If you said that around most other anime fans, you'd be bombarded with bricks.  :p

Anyway, they arent all the same. On the surface, most of the most popular animes look the same in style, but just look at Cyborg 009 or that new show kikaider. Those are solid proof.

I guess its easy to say they all look the same when you arent really a big fan of them, but when you dismiss entire series' that look entirely different and unique in thier own way, well, thats just kind of hurtful to a fan of those series'.   :(

And speaking to gregoriev: of course most of the episodes are self contained. Shows like the Simpsons, Family and Futurama are all like that. The difference between Inuyasha and Futurama is that Inuyasha is an anime, it has a big picture and a story to tell. Its more of an action/drama than a comedy like Futurama. And like most comedy shows/movies, the plot is just there to move along whats important, the Comedy.   :D

Shows like Inuyasha were meant to be taken seriously, but Futurama is just for fun, it hardly takes itself seriously.   :)

Um the shows you listed suck... But there is one show that I feel might be equal or greater than to Futurama and that is Trigun.

Coop, I didn't mean to diss it or anything, I'm just not a giant fan.  Most of the animation is great though.  In fact, there are some anime shows that I really enjoy.

Yeah, Coop i know, what about Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and even Lupin III. All adult swim shows and 2 out of the 3 i feel that or equal or better than futurama. This poll is bias. As I think if you had Trigun and Cowboy Bebop and got rid of Reign and Big 0 you would have the majority of the top adult swim shows on the poll.
